    Ordered, thanks for sharing :)

  • Been wanting a Switch for ages, decided to treat myself! Thanks for the post.

  • I just realised I need a microsd card for switch as well? Which one should I get? Is there any deal on it?

  • Hi, may I know if they do international delivery?

    • Probably not. Best to contact.

    • It's free delivery in Oz isn't it? Might be better to deliver to yourself and then post to the overseas country if it's a gift, otherwise if you're living overseas then maybe use one of those mail forwarding companies.

  • Any recommendations for the best place to buy games from? Are they pretty much same price everywhere, or some places are better known for giving good deals?

Use this site to track prices. They'll usually mention who's selling it lowest at the moment.

Generally Amazon would price match everyone but I got a few from Catch as well. If you want physical stores then JB Hifi and Big W would normally price match the best price.

      • @hunter14 is the link for digital games? Just bought a switch and looking at games now. Mainly for a 9 year old.

        • +1

It tracks both digital and physical game prices. It'll say so in the description.

          • @Hunter14: Awesome website. Found StarLink game 75% off digital download but requires login from switch that doesn’t arrive in a few days and deal expires in 2 days 😭

            • @Mahalo: Edit: shame, I just realised I saw this after the sale would've finished. But for future reference:

You can create your account and purchase the game via Web browser before the switch arrives. It'll be saved to your account :)

              • @moomilky: Thanks I tried that but I got an error. Ended up finding the game second hand cheaper than the sale.

      • EB Games too at times have lower prices. Have got few games (and Labo vehicle kit) from EB Games.

  • In term of any issue with switch, waz best way get back to Nintendo or reseller? I have one doubt isnt its better to get from jb hifi /big W Etc, like it save you from hassle while returning to a local store as compare to post. Appreciate your comments/views

    • Like any other item, you usually go through the reseller first. Nintendo switches are built quite well from a defect stand point. If they were like the Xbox 360s, I would be concerned but they're not (source: I had the RROD and a hard drive failure with the 360).

You're right, local store is more convenient unless it's Amazon direct because they provide free shipping labels and make it very easy to return stuff. I have prime, not sure if it's as good if you don't have it.

  • thanks got my gf to buy me this for my birthday present.

    • Lucky you! Get her to buy you an XSX or PS5 for Xmas! :P

I'm waiting till they are $399, I sold my launch day one during COVID lockdown for $520 :-)

  • do the common ongoing issues with joystick drift still persist with this model?

    • +2

unfortunately yes they still have those issues with the new model

    • I think the drift issue is down to how you look after it and if you maintian it well.

I have a switch from March 2019 and it has been running with no problems at all.

I clean underneath the joysticks a bit every few months with some IPA.

    • I have 3 sets of joy cons because some 4 player games require both the left and right joy-con and have personally not encountered the drift issue. You get one year warranty and I've also read online that Nintendo have been willing to fix the drift issue outside of warranty as a gesture of goodwill.

Personally I think the Switch is a quality device. My only bad experience with a console was the 360 which RROD outside the first year and also my hdd failed as well.

  • Just checked and its the 2019 version

  • Will cashback work with this deal?

    • No because you used a promo code

  • Thanks, ordered one

  • Surprised this is still going almost 900 units sold now

  • Is this something that you buy for the family or will I need one for each kid? If one for each kid, can the games be shared?

    • Shared as in 2 Player split screen? or 4 Player Split screen?

Yes plenty of games such as mario kart which can be played 2 player or 4 player or 8 player with two consoles

      • +1

Thanks for responding - it’s a lot of money and I just didn’t want to get one to find out I actually need three!

    • +1

Buy 1 console (which includes 1 joy-con controller set), then buy an extra joy-con or pro controller for each additional player. Nintendo's best local multiplayer offerings are Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and Super Smash Bros Ultimate. Buy them both and your kids will be good for a long time.

  • Hi,
How does the switch compare to a Wii U please? Unsure if worth it buying this or just spending the money on games for Wii U. We already have Mario Kart 8, Super Smash Brothers & Super Mario Bros U. Are there more games available for a 7yo if I get this? Thanks

    • +1

Being the latest Nintendo model the Switch is a step up from the Wii U. Personally, I believe the biggest advantage is the Switch can be used as a completely handheld console like a GameBoy or DS. I think the other main point in getting a Switch are the games it has to offer. There is and will be a continually growing list of games for the Switch meanwhile from my knowledge new games won't be coming to the Wii U as it has been superseded. That being said, the Wii U definitely does have a pretty decent list of games.
      In summary:
      - Portable
      - Newer games
      - Better graphics

      • I so wish there was a non-portable version of it. I'd never use it in handheld mode, yet I'd need to fork out for the 720p screen and battery.

That's why I still play at my friend's..

    • +1

It is hands down better than the Wii U. If I were you I would sell the Wii U and all the games you have, as soon as you can before resale prices drop too low. Use the money to buy the Switch and games.

Get Pokemon Sword/shield, mario odyssey, zelda, smash, animal crossing (depends on whether your 7yo is into this one), luigi's mansion etc etc. Basically, if you stick to Nintendo titles for games, you will be fine.

Also keep in mind that the switch will most likely shape your child's personality/interests in the future. Not getting him/her the best console of their generation is a mild form of child abuse :)

  • any recommendations for a controller? Would prefer to use a controller than the joycons

    • +1

The Pro controller is great. I also use an 8bitDo controller leftover from my Android gaming days.

  • Hi all,
Sorry I have no idea how Nintendo Switch works, planning to buy one for my son's birthday… Does the switch comes with any free games bundle or how expensive are the games usually?

I noticed eBay Plus members will have a Switch deal coming up soon which comes with animal crossing game bundle but that deal would $50-$60 more expensive than this…

    • +1

Nope it doesn't come with games.

    • +1

Check out this comment. As the previou poster has said, the Switch deal coming up with Animal Crossing is a good deal but the chances of actually securing the deal are low.

    • I bought one for my family and thought I could buy the games as birthday presents. It all seems very expensive but with three weeks school holidays coming up and no where to go at present, I just figured we’d give it a go.

    • When you pay for the Nintendo Online membership it includes access to a range of classic Super Nes and Original Nintendo games as well

  • Has anyone tried paying using discounted eBay gift cards?

    • Yeah paid partially with gift cards from one of the ebay uk deals, worked fine

  • Once you buy/order this console and delivery seems pretty quick but… it doenst include any games so you wont be able to play with when its delivered next week.

    • Next question is any suggestions on where and what games to buy for multiple players ? kids/family can play together
    • Any "must/essentials" accessories (screenprotector, memory cards etc..) and best where to buy?

Sorry, there is a huge gap from the last nintendo console i play with - Family Com to Switch :-)

    • It seems even if you havent purchase any games, you could look at the FREE games in eShop to test drive your new switch console.

Any Free games you recommend that is actually free and not just like a bait that is easily for kids to buy accidentally.

    • Sandisk MicroSD card

      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/tag/microsd-card

I bought a 128GB Ultra for $25.09 in September 2019 from Amazon Australia. Always better to have more and not need it than need it and not have it.

      • +1

Don't be fooled and buy the branded Nintendo MicroSD cards. You're just paying more for the branding. I also use SanDisk.

  • Sold me V1 today for $370 just so I can buy this updated version LOL

just shows you how well the switches hold its value currently.

    • Just curious, was it the console itself or did it include more? I might try to convince a relative to sell his and get a new one.

      • +1

console with the original dock, joy con holder, cables etc.

        No box.

And i threw in FIFA 20 which was a rubbish game anyways.

    • Can i still sell my xbox slim 360?

  • +1

When I last checked this deal, they had already sold 1,083 units. Also the heading has been updated to Preorder 24/6.

What do you think the likelyhood is that the original 16/4 preorder purchases will be shipped later this week?

Would they even have enough stock given the limited stock availability elsewhere?

    • I'd say those who purchased when it said Pre-order 16/6 would be in that group and those who buy now will be after the 24th,

It is a large volume of consoles to process but if they can do it hats off to them

As of now 9:16PM QLD time 1,100 unit's sold now very impressive

      • They're close to running out of stock now. When I ordered one for a relative, it showed 750 sold and limited quantity available. Now it's at 1,143 sold with more than 10 available.

      • I wonder how much stock they have. When I checked again this morning, it was no longer "more than 10 available" but limited quantity available.

    • Those like myself who got in on the 16/6 pre-order should receive their console this week as I just got this via email from eBay.

Estimated delivery time Wed, 17 Jun - Thu, 18 Jun.

      • Yep it says my order is on the way. Same ETA as yours.

        • I ordered when it said 24/06 preorder and mine is also on the way already. Due Thursday!

  • Already bought the Sandisk 128GB as reco above.

Any reco to buy carry case + tempered glass ?

    • Found this on ebay plus / free delivery
It claims 16 items included though i was actually looking for the carry case and tempered glass protector only.

I hope I bought the right item for new Switch console.

For Nintendo Switch Travel Carrying Case Bag Screen Protector Cover Accessories ($22.59)
      https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/184110603565?ViewItem=&item=1841…

      • +1

I have that kit and it's well worth the $22.59 can confirm :)

        • Great to know.

My worry is that it maybe for lite or it has different screensize as it mentioned for switch 2017 and I did a quick look if there is a difference in size between switch release in 2017 and 2019 and seems no change.

    • +1

This case was recommended earlier in this thread

As well as a Orzly Glass Screen Protectors

      • Definitely get Orzly Glass Screen Protectors. You'll need it unless you don't mind getting light (or worse) scratches on your screen

  • +3

    My switch arrived today!

    • Get a screen protector for the new baby :P

      • Time to shop around for the best screen protector…..

        • this kit which was linked above comes with two ;)

          Worked great on mine https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/184110603565?ViewItem=&item=1841…

          • +1

            @Gomo: Thanks, I will have a look :)

        • Aren't you suppose to be shopping for the games?
          Else it isnt useable

Or I think i check eShop has free downloadable games while shooping for bargain games.

          • @atlinus: Doing that too… however not many good games on sale at the moment.

            • @gmeno: The used market is quite good, I see many from $40-50 for good titles on sale.

              • @SpeedRunnerLink: Thanks !!!
Can you suggest some fun party games ?
                Currently on my list :
                overcooked 2
                mario party
                super monkey ball..
                Thanks again !!

                • @gmeno: i have mario party and don't recommend it. it gets boring very fast.

my goto game when I have friends over is Puyo Puyo Tetris. Cant recommend this enough. Got it on sale during the sales for $28 i think.

                • @gmeno: go to the EB games website , they have many party games on sale for aorund $20-30.

  • +1

    received mine today, thanks :)

    • When did you order yours? I ordered a grey version on the 14th and my eBay order still says "Paid but not sent" :(

      • +1

they would of ordered in the first run around the 12th or so.

I ordered on the 14th as well which means they will be in the batch around the 24th of June

        • +1

Yeah I ordered on the 12th June and they arrived today even though the ETA was 17-18.

  • Many are purchasing for their kids. I would highly recommend Labo Vehicle kit - great old school type fun activity for Switch enjoyable by kids as well as parents. On sale for $29 at BigW (if you can find stock) - https://www.bigw.com.au/product/nintendo-labo-vehicle-kit/p/…

    • looks cool. educational and enhance creativity
You reckon the cardboard is sturdy enough and would last long?
Seen kids play with card board boxes and stuff and didnt last long.

      • I've seen kids play with just the normal consoles and at times didnt last long.

Kids break things all the time no matter how sturdy you make them.

        • Maybe will give it a go.
There is a website where you can print out the patterns in case the parts needs replacement.

      • Cardboards are of high quality, the folds are perfect.

  • +1

Just got an email from The Gamesmen saying their order has been delayed until 30/6, so I assume it will be shipped out on that date, if not later.

    • I got this email too for the Grey version.

    • When did you order yours?

I haven't gotten this email yet but i ordered it on the 14th.

      • Looks like it's just the grey consoles. Neon seems like it's still on track for next week.

        • Got an email that my unit is being shipped today. I placed an order on teh 14th on a Neon model.
