                @2getted: yeah I love that interview. Really showed how out of touch old english church was. John while restrained was fantastic in pointing out the hypocrisy of them yet they failed to see it.

        • It's the same as how Borat was characterised. But in both cases you really don't come away with any sense of a moral education from seeing the bigotry played out by the onscreen "racist". Just makes you feel it's funny (perhaps even fun if you're watching it with a bunch of mates) to see people in movies make fun of other ethnic/national groups in ways that are not socially acceptable.

        Ironically a lot of the content being removed from platforms is of a liberal mindset both of its time and now.
        I could easily see Always Sunny in Philidelphia having its blackface episodes being removed despite how much it uses blackface to demonstrate how eager the white characters are to don blackface.

      This shows the value of owning your own copy of media. Don't rely on streaming services where the content can be pulled or edited without warning.

      Sometimes the edits are subtle and silent because someone suddenly became offended by a bare backside 35 years later.

        The Declaration of independence did which was enacted 13 years earlier:
        "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness."

        This was the prime driver used to abolish slavery. Lincoln had the Constitution updated to specifically make slavery illegal in 1865:

        13th Amendment: "Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction"

          No mate. In context, the words demonstrate an English tendency to racism. If anything, it gave rise toa generation of poeople noticing the flippant racism, and growing up to be more sympathetic to the BLM movement.

          Its far more derogatory of the English Major, and their oddly 'polite' conversation about people of colour. It highlights racism mate, it doesnt perpetrate it. Context is very important.

If they really take the BLM movement serious they would stay home as it reduces the risk especially to vulnerable indigenous people. These people are gonna undo all of our hard work!       • Man there have been many white people killed by police, I don't really hear their stories much. I think it boils down to police brutality not really racism.

        Also I reckon most cops are doing their job well. And I think it's unfair to declare all cops bad after looking at a few brutal cases. Majority are good, honest person working for the common good. There are some bad ones ofc but don't let that take away the reputation from all of them.

      One thing I've been unsuccessfully trying to confirm, if there are notable VISUAL differences between the non-remastered & remastered DVDs (c1ockwork probably answered the DVD-blu comparison). Yes the remastered has the better extras, but nothing at basen gives me any answers (the remastered scandi seems AWOL). Anyone here know (rather than suspect/presume/educated-guess) of any visual improvements between the 2 DVD versions?

    Does anyone know if they have changed the aspect ratio or have they left it the original 4x3 format?

    I have seen some episodes of Faulty Towers which they try to resize the format to more fit in the 16x9 format, and it looks terrible. In some of the scenes you see Basil Faulty's head off the screen.

    Also, I am in agreement with everyone here, after I found out that the most famous episode of all was removed (in which I GOT OFFENDED), then this culture of "offending" has gone too far. I want to keep my own copies.

    Next they will be banning Con the fruiterer.

    Get it before it's banned altogether along with other series like Love Thy Neighbour, Benny Hill Show, Dick Emery, South Park and any movie where an Anglo actor portrayed another ethnicity or spoke another language other than his own. I miss The Mighty Boosh. 😭

    • So Chris Lilley's series “Angry Boys,” “Summer Heights High,” “We Can Be Heroes” and “Jonah From Tonga" are fine? Even I cringed at his portrayals as they were in such poor taste - so I didn't/don't watch his comedy (my choice).

      But then there's the Kenny Everett Video Show of which "It's all done in the best possible taste!"
