Hi Everyone,

Saw this 12 Month plan get targeted to me on FB. Is not on their website. They are calling it an Online Hidden Offer.

Essentially a 12 Month plan at $35 PER MONTH, for "Unlimited" which is actually just 20GB, but then additional data is capped at 1.5Mbps.

Not a bad deal if you want to stay with Voddafone for $5 a day travel. But overall not the cheapest plan or deal when comparing small retailers.

Also tried to sign up as a current customer, and website was shocking and wouldn't work, so would be interesting to see if anyone new can actually sign up to it.

Nice. So $35/month for 20GB a month. Whats to hide in that for OzBargainers to discover?

  • +5

Might want to reword the post.

Its $35 a MONTH for a 20Gb a MONTH plan, for a year wheras the way you put it could be confused with being a 20gb 12month plan for a total of $35 for the whole year. (now that would be a bargain)

  • +1

$35 per month to be clear - I interpreted it as 20GB for 12 months, then capped at 1.5Mbps

  • Updated. $35 per month. As said if you want vodafone $5 per month for travel, then its good by Vodafone standard..

    • +5

      $5 per day

    • No way I'm travelling when there is no COVID vaccine and even if there was. The entire world can't be vaccinated in the same year as there is a manufacturing capacity limit per year. Useless perk for the time being.

      • We could be visiting our lovely Kiwi neighbors soon lolz so we both can spread the virus even more

Yeah certainly I cant see us like traveling to America dare I say for years

Anyway if we could travel I wouldn't pay the Vodafone $5 a day for roaming at least Optus is a reasonable offer compared to just buying a sim at your destination, I wonder what Telstra charges for roaming?

  • +2

Enjoy unlimited standard national calls to 13, 15, 18 and 1800 numbers in Australia.

  • I'll stick to my $29 35gb telstra deal thanks :P

    • +1

      Which deal is that?

    • And I'll stick too my $50 Optus plan with 125gb data, unlimited calls/sms and same to 35 countries including free roaming in those 35 countries, unmetered Netflix, Iview etc and my 125gb data shared with a separate data sim plus an eBay $150 voucher thrown in,.. thanks ozbargain and Optus for over applying a discount for my plan 🤪 Though the discounts are only for 24 months and I'll be surely nagging Optus to continue the deal

Edit: wish my place was like my cousins place were I can get over 250Mbps downloads speeds, not complaining with only 50Mbps downloading speeds I just visit my cousin place more regularly lolz

  • Compared to what's offered elsewhere it's not actually that great a deal - or am I missing something?

  • +3

Would be great if you could actually Travel :)

  • Who buys these plans when you can get deals like Boost $250/yr (20GB/month, $20.83) on the superior Telstra network (in most cases)… People who can't afford $250 up front I guess?

I went into a Vodafone store the other day and the 3 staff fought to talk to me first. I'm sure I was the first person they'd seen all day (11AM).

    • +5

I can tell you who buys them. It's people who go overseas and pay the $5 day roaming,

      • +2

Actually depending on the travel type you do, works out better using the $5 a day. Especially if travelling for work and in a city for a few days ect…

      • Thanks for answering my question 👍

  • There is no call centre from Vodafone. If you have any issue you might have to visit a store.

  • Must have got lucky click frenzy may 2019.. Optus 80gb per month for $40 a month ($50 p/m sim only less $10 p/m credit).

Still on this. Was looking to change but Optus said the credit has been applied for 2 years.

Looks like Voda is the least competitive among the big 3 telcos, I'm paying $35/45GB with Telstra.

    • it doesn't look available online? all I can see online is $49/15gb for Telstra?

      • +1

This is via JB Hi-Fi in Store. $10 credit for Port In customers over 12 months until 30th June.

        • Does your Telstra plan have unlimited shaped speed data?

          • @BuyNow Think Later: There is no Speed Cap. Extra Data beyond 45GB will be charged in blocks of $10/1GB. I don't use more than 45GB so will not be a problem for me. There is a FAQ section on the linked page.

        • off topic but those JB's website graphics are hard to take seriously

        • Ooo that’s so good. Do you have to ask in store for the $10 credit port in? Doesn’t say on their website.
But would be interested in moving to Telstra tbh

          • @JSki: They automatically apply the $10 credit in store if you're Porting In, and as mentioned, only available until 30th June.

  • Important to note:

Score double the data with $5/mth off plan fees for your first 12 months on a $40 SIM Only Plus Plan.

After 12 months, the discount of $5/month is dropped and the 20GB/month reverts to 10GB/month.

    • Bonus data will continue for as long as you remain continuously connected to your Eligible Plan.

The data will continue as long as you stay on the plan, but it will revert to $40 after 12 months, as clearly highlighted in the title.

It's also worth noting it's not a contract, so you can easily change to another plan in 12 months, which you should.

  • the $5 Discount is applicable for the New connection or Additional New service on the account..

I signed up my wife as she wants to get the NumberSync for her Apple Watch.

Seemless experience, signed up online and had service within 15 minutes on esim and went to Vodafone shop to port old number. All done within 30 minutes.

Obviously not the best plan around.

    • Thought this is 'hidden'? Via chat?

      • I just used the link from this offer and signed up ok

  • If you're an existing customer. Jump on the chat. Complain you don't get any deals for existing customers. They will offer you a discount.i got 20% off the $40 plan

  • This is worse than the same price for 25GB that they offered two months ago.

Kogan mobile that uses Vodaphone network offers more data for less money …

  • I rather keeping my $10/month unlimited text and talk (and 1GB per month) with Belong. With port-in and bonus data deal you end up having 80GB of data for use until it runs out. For my 1GB/month use it runs out in about 80 months. Refer a friend or two and you effectively pay less than $80 per year for unlimited talk and text on Telstra network. Not for data heavy use or number sync for smart toys.
This is how I ported my number to Belong: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/506397

  • Can you potentially use a USB tether app to get around the speed limit/cap? Apparently ClockworkMod Tether (No root) has a high rating and users are able to bypass both hotspot function limit and the data shaping. And apparently works for any carrier. If that's true then any shaped but limitless data plans may serve you very well if you can configure the above of course.

    • I read the description of ClockworkMod Tether in the Android play store and does state it helps the limitation of connecting a USB cable between a mobile and PC for Internet tethering (which I've never had that issue on my Samsung Notes 4, 8 and 9) and doesn't mention anything about fixing speeds that are capped by the mobile network provider (does suggest too remove other USB devices as the slowest device will effect the speed of the connected USB cable tether),.. so wondering if you have more info about this idea from a website somewhere as we all surely be very interested

      • The third review down says outlined this, "…I have the top tier Verizon plan but it only has 30GB hotspot data and after that slows to 600Kbit. Using this, I can utilize more than the 30GB. My only complaint is that I have to restart it from time to time to keep the speed fast. (That may be a limit from my cell company but the method works so I gave this app a 5!"

I have no idea if it will work (and how) and if for all cell companies, but a more experienced mobile tech person might be able to give insight and if it's even legal in Australia.

        • When you say too keep it fast is that the top speed you would of got when not speed limited? How's running at 600Kbit anyway like I said 1.5Mbps on Telstra 4G network seems ok I actually don't see any major difference if I'm say streaming YouTube or browsing the internet, sorry would you have a link to the review for this app? cheers
