Gigabyte GeForce RTX 2070 WINDFORCE 2X 8G GDDR6 Graphics Card $679 + Shipping @ Shopping Express

220

Seems like a good option if you wanted to go the Nvidia route.

The cheapest for this model that I've found. Next cheapest is mwave for $699 + shipping.

cheap because that after market cooler is really bottom of the barrel, couldnt even support 5600xt, how is it going to do with the 2070 super? in terms of temp and noise

    • +1

I didn't know you could compare coolers across different cards. Personally, a 3 fan setup is preferable.

      • +1

Different models have different cooling performance so it's absolutely a thing you need to take into consideration when buying a gpu.

        • I think he is saying Windforce cooling is poor. I wasn't implying all different variations of a card had the same cooling design / effect.

Here come the pro rx5700xt arguments

    • +2

Mainly Because compared to a 2070 Non super the 57000 XT would be a faster card at the same price…

Obviously there will better optimized titles which the 2070 would be better against.

But i'm quite sure the 5700 XT performs better than non super 2070…

      • Yeah I agree. It's a great card. The card of the ozbargain community.

      • Hoe-lee sheet 57000 XT? What year is it?

          1. Lol we had a nice discussion about it didn't we. Pure price to performance can't be beat and there have been plenty of deals lately. It's another story considering other factors though.
          • @mordinhoz: 5700 XT - No frills gaming.

2070 Super - All the NVIDIA goodies like Ray Tracing, the new NVENC and RTX Voice.

            Case closed.

I'm personally looking to get a 5700XT, but if you don't want to think about possible driver issues, want ray tracing, or are a streamer, then 2070/Super is the way to go.

I have a 5700XT after several years of Nvidia GPUs. The performance per dollar is excellent, but I've had a lot of driver issues and the AMD software is pretty rubbish. It's bad enough that when a bargain 2070 Super comes along, I'm switching back.

          • @klaw81: I just switched to AMD after years of Nvidia but no issues so far. Having said that I'm pretty interested in what next-gen will bring

          • @klaw81: Same here. Poor directx 9 performance sealed it for me

Bout where a 2070 non-super should be price wise? What do people think?

    • +3

Quite Sure 2070 Super's Were in The Low $700 Range Pre Covid / Towards end of last year… & i'm not talking about the FTC scam.

Personally will be waiting longer because i hate feeling being ripped off.

Either That or Look at a 5700 XT maybe if i'm desperate.

      • edit: nm i used the search bar tldr they went bankrupt

What happened with FTC in the end? Just for reference I received my Gigabyte 2070 Super from them within a week. All up was $623 plus Gigabyte a few months later sent me a bonus 1TB 2.5" SSD.

      • I paid 719 for the MSI Trio RGB variant pre-covid 19. Great price and it was marginally cheaper before that but I had a stuff around returning my 5700XT so was happy to pay a bit extra to do away with Radeon Rubbish.

        • Why Radeon Rubbish? Why were u returning it btw?

          • @Tehcookiemonsta: Notorious driver issues (Crashes). To my knowledge it's still not entirely fixed and even they acknowledge that. For the pricepoint these things are selling at, in particular one of their flagships in the 5700XT, it's completely unacceptable in my book.

The issues were well documented late 2019. The way they're going, it'll be a year before they even have a full fix and that's only dating back to their first public admittance that they had any real problem.

To quote myself because I can't be bothered hyperlinking my comments:
"I had the 5700xt Mech and dealt with the black screens, BSODs, random drop-outs, etc and ended up sending it back. After 4 weeks of pain and another 2-3 weeks before I was issued a full refund I can safely say it'll be a while before I buy another radeon card. The issue was known about before I bought my card and the lack of support was pretty bad for this level of card. The icing on the cake was the release of an update that acknowledged that they hadn't even fully fixed the issue. I wanted to save a bit of money and not have to spring for a 2070s, lesson learned.

Hindsight and about an 8 week turnaround…. I now own an MSI RTX 2070S Trio and haven't had an issue since."

I'd still recommend them, I think… given they're usually at a slightly lower price point than the 2070s, but my message is more a buyer beware than a don't buy at all.
