    Doesn't appear to be customisable unfortunately. Would have been nice to be able to add another 8gb RAM. I'm on the lookout for a mid/low tier gaming laptop for travel but this doesn't seem to be it.

        I'd recommend you try the new edge browser. Uses about 50% less ram than chrome and is the same speed or faster at most tasks since it is based on chromium. It's also compatible with all chrome extensions.

        I'm a Android and Google user and have used chrome for many years now. Switched a few months ago and don't think I'll ever go back to the mess of a browser that is chrome.

    It's hard to find specs but it seems to have only one SO-DIMM Slot.
    So it's either 4 GB soldered + 1x4 GB SO-DIMM, or just 8 GB soldered RAM with a spare SO-DIMM slot.. Or maybe it's just one SO-DIMM and no soldered RAM??
    I found a pic of the mobo and it had one SO-DIMM slot and under that was soldered RAM, but that may have been VRAM.

              @JoBevo: There are plenty of comments from people on forums that they only get 90 to 120 minutes of use out of the laptop before battery dies. Its only a 40wh battery though so not sure how they make claims it runs for up to 5-6 hours.

              To be fair, I had fun playing games on it initially but now I just web surf on it and I wish I had something lighter and more battery efficient.

        I've basically cut Lenovo in to 2 basic halves.
        Thinkpad - better build quality
        Ideapad - shite

        So as i rule i eliminate the second straight off leaving the Thinkpad range.
        There are some pretty average Thinkpads, but it's rare for them to be outright terrible, i it is passable that some of the cheaper ones are not built like a brick outhouse given they are usually somewhat sturdy and reasonable value sometimes.

    This was gen 2019, gen 2020 seems have better design and way better cpu performance except gpu remains same.

    8GB RAM is the only real issues here… The 1650 is super decent, and the i5 supports it quite nicely, but 8GB RAM will definitely cause issues

          Don't forget to check where your food sources their gluten. The AU factory costs more than the Chinese. One of the big reasons many products aren't 100% made in AU on the label.

      Lenovo is not the best company to deal with

      Not only do they include marketing / spyware in their oem installations they have even gone so far as to make their stuff impossible to remove

      They bought the PC manufacturer division off IBM when IBM became an IT consulting company.

      They are still popular because they kept the good designs from IBM, They are one of the few brands that make laptops better built than Apple

      meanwhile almost all PC makers focus on making the cheapest crap possible with no care for build quality.

        That's consumer class laptops only… Look towards business oriented lines
        For Dell, it's latitude class, though the typical price tags are a little high.. you can still get them from the Dell Outlet though.

          I have used a latitude, you are right, they are pretty good. Unfortunately they copied the flat keyboard from apple, and terrible cooling, but otherwise a good machine.
