$10 more here if you dont want to support Kogan

    • Why the Kogan hate? Is there something I'm missing?

I've bought 10-20 things from Kogan over the years, only had 1 issue where a batch of kogan-branded motion sensor lights sucked. They were heaps good about it, responsive to my issue and are refunding me in full.

Kogan has had multiple issues with the ACCC and general dodgy behavior. You can google and find multiple examples of this. I have used Kogan, and the one time they oversold MSI GTX 1080's and it over a Month to get my refund, I was lucky I did, not everyone always are. Other small purchases from them went ok. Sometimes they have amazing deals that no other shop in Aus can match, grey stock or not.

In current times, I would rather support a "proper" local shop at this stage, especially when the difference is that small.

        • Good explanation, ta. I'll think twice before pulling the trigger in the future. Not a fan of supporting dodgey business.

damn, if only the AX88U was this cheap

    • +1

It was. My RT-AX88U was $330.40 after cashback from Binglee Black Friday deal.

Atm my RT-AC68U is bursted and Sydneytec is sending me a replacement (almost 2 years, warranty until Nov this year) so I'm stuck with only the AX88U. It still covers the entire house + front and back yard 700sqm with lowest speed 80Mbps.

  • Stupid question but my current router struggles to reach the top floor so I have to use and wifi extender. However the furthest room still has weak/no reception at times

Will getting wifi6 mean that it’s range is better meaning I won’t need the extender?

    • +1

No. Any router with good antennas and strong signal will do. That should be enough for almost any house.
If you have an extra large house you could set up a wireless access point on the other floor.

    • +1

Better to use a power over Ethernet with wifi access point on it to reach upstairs. Wifi 6 doesn't really extend the range, plus your devices also need wifi6 to benefit

    • +1

      No

I think a better solution is to get a 3 pack mesh system, replace your current router and extender, and put the 3rd one in the furthest room, or play with the layout to reach the best coverage.

      • +1

Yeah better but costs $400 compared to my solution. All depends on your budget I guess.

    • +1

Get 3 ASUS router and then use iMesh.

  • I love the Wifi 6 but disappointed with my NBN speed :(
will pass for now until I can get 1Gbps NBN plan

Unless really needing a new router now, suggest better to wait for routers using the new WiFi 6E standard, with much greater bandwidth, later this year or early next.

    • Hold your horses. The wifi 6E standard has not been approved for Australian use.

for $60 more you can get the AX6000 (use code PMON20)

    • thats a tp-link. different brand.

        Yes…. Yes it is!

  • If this router is anything like my AX88U, you will be very pleased. They have a really good interface as well. Very pleased with mine so far…
