Yeah, I think you will be happy with 2x 27”. If your eyesight is really bad, then perhaps the 2x 32” might do you better (because everything will be bigger)…but I have glasses, and I definitely still prefer 27” 1440p.

For reference, a 32” 1440p screen will be like a standard 24” 1080p screen, if you ever used one of those. The ppi / text size will be pretty much the same (around 91ppi I think). 27” 1440p is just that little bit higher, at around 109ppi - so text will be just that little bit smaller and sharper. It will be kind of like zooming 15% on a standard 24” monitor (but should look better). When I use a 24”, my word documents are usually at 80-90% scaling, so that’s probably somewhat similar to 100% on a 27” 1440p (but I haven’t done the math! ahaha).

          (And I definitely would take 2x 27” over 1x 32”, although I assume you are choosing between 2x 27” and 2x 32”).

Persnally, I bought a 34” Ultrawide, which is pretty much the equivalent of 1440p 27”, but stretched longer (21:9 instead of 16:9). I prefer the Ultrawide aspect ratio on my main monitor, because it allows more flexibility than a standard 16:9 (can have one really long window, split screen that is much wider than on a regular 16:9 split, or even 3-4 windows across, etc’). I bought the $639 kogan curved model, but I think I would have been perfectly happy with the $449 flat Kogan Ultrawide. That is another option to consider. (I already have 24” monitors, so I use the 34” Ultrawide with a 24” 16:10 monitor, as an asymmetric dual screen setup.)

But yeah, 2x 27” for <$300 each (tax write off) would be a pretty great WFH option!

@caprimulgus: Awesome. My eyesight isn't horrendous, it's just standard "Hey you, here's a gentle reminder that you're getting older" stuff.

I've just ordered 2 of the 27" units, and got 2 of the gas strut monitor stand thingos that were linked here on Ozb recently from Amazon, for $40-odd each. Each purchase is under the magical $300 threshold, so won't have to fluff about with depreciation and all that.

Hopefully they'll last and I won't need to engage with Kogan's "support". Time will tell I guess.

Again, thanks for your input, it's been relly helpful.

            • @kale chips suck: All good, no worries, enjoy! :)

(I bought the same North Bayou F80 mounts for my two side monitors - they are awesome for the money!)

  • Will this make a decent 2nd monitor for work from home?

I'm looking at their very monitor for WFH, currently using a work dell ultra 27in which is great.

I just returned a 27" Samsung f350 as resolution was shocking to work with.

Would this one be ok, even with 14ms response? When most are 8ms or 5ms. Just concerned it won't be enough for office use and monitoring systems.

Pricing is very spot on for QHD for my pricing.

    Any advice be great.👍

    • It's fine. It's just outside the refresh window doe 75hz and for just office use it's plenty.

Bloody hell this monitor is dim. Or is this just me?

Also, they stupidly included HDMI which cannot do 75Hz, so it means forking out extra for a DP cable…

I'm actually trying to decide if it has a screen protector on the front for transit.. I don't see any mention of it.

      • Let me know if youre willing to peel it off HAHA.

    • Mine came in the mail today and I agree that with factory settings it was very dim, especially when sitting next to my Acer Predator. That said, I was able to achieve similar brightness by opening up the monitor settings using the button at the back of the monitor, turning on brightness all the way up to 100 and changing the colour temp to Normal (for some reason it was set to user which caused the picture to be dull). Also I had to play around with some of the colours settings within the Nvidia graphics control panel and played around with the contrast and brightness specifically with blue and red to achieve the same colours as my main monitor.

It took me about 30mins to play around to get the right setting. If you have a dual monitor setup it helps if you play a movie and move the window so that half is on each monitor making it easier to match up the colours.

      • My other monitor is so bright I have to set it to 60 to match the 100% on the Kogan…

        • I have my main monitor at 65 which matches to 100% on the Kogan monitor. If I had to adjust my brightness down on my main monitor I probably would have tried to return it and buy a better quality monitor. But all in all I am very happy with it.
