      • For 12 more days… Anyway Premier will make announcement on Tuesday.

PS I think you mean border.

        • 😂 I do…woops

  • You'll need a new mobile phone sooner or later so put it towards that.

i never buy anything fun for myself.

        Then:

        Own a gaming pc , ps1-4 , Nintendo switch

        Just bought a new phone

        Alright then…

Massage or pamper packs. Check Groupon for cheap vouchers.

    • Funniest shit

    • Literal LMGTFY

  • Nintendo Switch lite

    • Good suggestion but $300 would only cover the cost of the console. Games are pretty pricey on the Switch

  • I would say Lego. The Saturn V and VW Combi van 2 great builds and should be within budget. Or get 1 and something else out of the creator range.

  • Buy two of these for model A & B. You'll have days of fun and with the leftover money buy 2 7-11 coffees.

  • A full body massage.

(a legit one, not a happy ending one…. although?)

  • +2

    A bicycle and helmet.

  • Electric bike kit

    • I was thinking a bike or scooter, they can go into the thousands. I think our crappy Vic laws means you can’t buy anything too powerful

    • Are they easy to install on a existing bike?

  • +1

    Electric helmet and a bicycle

OP: I never buy anything fun for myself.

    Also OP:
    I have a new phone,
    a gaming PC ,
    PS 1-4,
    Nintendo Switch.

    The boredom must be incredible.

i never buy anything fun for myself.

Looks like we all got trolled.

        • What if all those items had not been effective in curing OP's problem?

          • +7

@justwii: OP could be depressed if nothing is enjoyable any more. I suggest spend it at a session at a psychiatrist.

            • @niknah: it will only get one session

psychiatrist wants you to keep coming back so they can explore your mother or father issues.

      • +5

Might throw it out there, but are you okay?
Often boredom and lack of enjoyment in things you used to like can be a sign of depression or something else. If you need someone to talk to PM me.

Otherwise, might be worthwhile trying a new book with cheese and wine, which could cost a lot less than $300 and might give you short and longer term enjoyment.

        All the best mate.

    • +8

This post seems to highlight how entitled some people feel. OP has all the entertainment in the world, yet still considers themselves as someone who has less and rightly deserves more.

      • +1

Yes, my thoughts exactly. I'm sure many people wouldn't have any of those toys in OP's list yet they would be thoroughly enjoying life.

    • But he dont have mavic mini. Fun is still not quite there.

Support jobs and growth by playing the pokies at a local pub

    • +2

Why not just put 300 dollars behind the bar for you and a few mates rather than play pokies?

      • -2

You have a chance of winning it back

        • If you take it back you're not supporting jobs or growth.

          • @Miss B: But gaming machine tax is calculated on EGM profits. Every time you play the pokies you’re keeping the lights on and putting food on the table for gaming attendants. The state benefits from increased tax revenue, the venue potentially from your patronage, and gaming attendants remain gainfully employed by the club/pub.

            • +1

@Findo: How do they profit from you putting money in and then taking the same amount, or more, out again? The people who leave with less than they started with will help. If they buy other things while there they might help.

              • @Miss B: Because odds are that you'll return and you'll lose more than you win (especially if you're like the OP who sounds like they have an issue with dopamine dysregulation)

                • @ChadHominem: The benefit of having a chance of winning it back is only a benefit if you don't then lose it again.

                  • @Miss B: Hardcore gamblers perceive the chance to win as a benefit regardless of outcome, as opposed to not having the chance to win.

            • +1

@Findo: Actually there's research that shows that there are more jobs created from other types of hospitality such as from food and beverage than there is from gaming. Every $1 mil in gaming creates 3 jobs, whereas there's about 20 created from hotels, pubs, etc. from selling food.

Yes, this research is from 2006 but I don't think it would be that different now. The point is gaming is a low labor intensive role that doesn't create as many jobs as other forms of hospitality.

              • +1

@kanmen: That report was a good read and I stand corrected. I had no idea gaming didn’t actually create all that many jobs compared to other forms of hospitality, nor did I know the social costs of gambling were so much higher than the profits generated.

Looks like responsible gambling isn’t actually a driver of jobs and growth.

                • +1

@Findo: Last year in NSW pokies generated $6.5b in profit. Even if you divided the losses amongst every adult in NSW they're not insignificant

                • +2

@Findo: For sure. It's actually quite cooked and you don't realise until you've been harmed by it or until you look into it. There's newer Victorian research that gives a figure and categorises the social costs.

Unfortunately I don't think NSW has as much research even though they have one of the highest, if not the highest losses in the country. Australia as a whole has the highest losses per capita to gambling in the world. It's become so normalised that you don't realise it's actually not that normal to have large venues with machines upon machines open late at night (in some states venues can be open until 4AM,) mostly in areas that typically end up being low socio-economic ie. they have the most to lose and are the most vulnerable.

Depends on your interests but sounds like you have a lot of electronic toys/gadgets so I would suggest Board game. for less than $300 you can invest in some board games (maybe 4-6 good ones) which can retain a high replay value and bring hours of fun. I have a large board game collection that's taken a few years acquire but whenever we have some spare cash, we add to it buy grabbing a new game. There's plenty of different styles/genres of games out there from party games, push-you-luck risk taking games to strategic turn based games etc. Some of the classics to start on would be games like Catan, Carcassone, Splendor, Pandemic, Forbidden Island, check out BoardGameGeek where games are ranked by genre.

    Ukulele

  • Subscriptions to all sort of streaming services for months of fun supplies, $300 is then spent by the time you find them not fun anymore.

  • Nerf Blasters/Water Gun

  • Electric Skateboard! It is fun and in VIC, if you meet with police, just use your foot, pretend that yours is a regular skateboard.

  • More cowbell.

  • $300 in asx.

  • +1

$300 worth of bird feed. Then go find some birds.

  • +3

Pay someone $300 to kill you when you least expect it. You'll feel a rush for the rest of your life

  • +1

    Gold

    • That’s like 5 grams?

  • +3

Give it to charity or a good cause. Sounds like you have a lot that you take for granted. Maybe helping someone in need will change your perspective on what you have.

  • Maybe some camera gear? An old used camera paired with a cheap 50mm or 3rd party manual focus lens might be fun.

  • Drone!

  • Google Nest Hub Max

  • Spend it on learning how to make yourself and others excellent coffee.

For a starter pack, I'd get an Aeropress, a Hario 1lt cold brew jug and a few bags of different speciality roasts.

Fun is subjective, but taking the time to make really good coffee is a rewarding experience and a good use of your money.
