It seems they offer some slight advantages mainly expiry time.

LE is generally setup with auto renewal software, so you set and forget..

Yeah no, don't get scammed. You should be auto-renewing now.
      Neg this BS!

  • US$8 for year , US$25 for 5 year

cheapsslshop offer 5 years for USD20

    • FYI - it's not a cert valid for 5 years, the current max cert life is 2 years, and it will reduce to 1 year after September.

  • Anyone know a cheap option for more than 100 domains per certificate? I hit that limit with lets encrypt but i'd like to have more domains than that per app encrypted, even though it's not "best practice".

    • Not sure what you're doing that has over 100 domains on a single instance, but maybe split some out…??

      • Well it actually comes to 50 unique domains per app because I add a certificate for name.com and for *.name.com. I could split them up over multiple apps. But then I'd be managing multiple apps instead of a single one.

    Cloudflare is free

    • Cloudflare also bundle your domain in with a heap of others on the free SSL cert. But it is better than nothing…

  • what it do?

If you're with the worst host in the world (cough…Netregistry…cough) that also happens to not offer AutoSSL in their cPanel then you should find an alternate host.

Since I've removed all my clients from the evil clutches of the worst host in the world, I can't confirm if this is still an issue. But I am confident that they will still have the worst customer service per dollar spent anywhere in the world.

    • what do you pay for cpanel or hosting with a panel?

      • Unfortunately I don't host on behalf of my clients due to decommitment so I can't advise. People I've worked with have recommended Singaporean reseller accounts for value.

I jumped over a few to VentraIP on the recent $1 deal just up get away from Netregistry. Top notch customer service, but the top plan doesn't blow me away. Budget looking Interserver in the US surprised me with its speed but maybe it's because it was the first host I tried migrating from MelbourneIT/Netregistry.

        • I hear that a lot, that you should offload the hosting to the client because it's not worth the hassle. But aren't they just going to call you anyway if something goes wrong? And if you're talking about Wordpress then when does anything ever go wrong. I've set up random Wordpress apps years ago that I've forgotten about that are still running along just fine.

    • free to transfer to cloudflare right?

      • I've given up on everything CloudFlare, even their DNS, so I can't comment. Since I don't involve myself in client contracts anymore I found it was too much trouble when the host changed something and the client didn't understand or forward the emailed instructions before a critical date.

        • This is what I mean too. You spend all your time learning how to use these server panels, so shouldn't it be you that takes care of things that go wrong. Giving them access to the panel could actually cause even more problems.

  • Your business is obsolete now. Stop peddling your garbage with fancy marketing and pr. Find a new job and move on. Mods… BAN TIME! Not just for this guy but for all the SSL scammers.

  • Scammers like Comodo should go.
