Belong $40 Starter Pack for $20 @ Officeworks

580

Starter Pack Features

  • 40GB Data (+40GB on the 1st billing date)
  • Unlimited national calls & sms.
  • Unlimited data banking.
  • Unlimited data gifting.
  • No lock-in contracts.
  • Flexibility to change plans once every monthly payment cycle.
  • Data slows to 64 kbps if you use all your monthly allowance.
  • Telstra 4G & 3G.
  • 12 month starter pack expiry (you have 12 months from the purchase date to activate)

Here are 2 good options for getting the most out of this starter pack. Before you activate make sure you get a referral code from a friend already with Belong or the OzBargain Belong pool for an additional $20 credit.

Option 1 (4 Months 23GB) - Activate on the $25 10GB per month plan. When the 1st billing date comes you'll get another 10GB. Then switch to the $10 1GB per month plan for the 2nd & remaining months. The first 4 months cost is covered ($40 starter pack credit plus $20 referral credit) $5.00 will be left over for the 5th month.

Option 2 (3 Months 82GB) - Activate on the $40 40GB per month plan. When the 1st billing date comes you'll get another 40GB. Then switch to the $10 1GB per month plan for the 2nd & remaining months. The first 3 months cost is covered ($40 starter pack credit plus $20 referral credit) and data rolls over every month or can be gifted.

Billing Dates (4th, 12th, 20th & 28th)
Plans are billed on the same date monthly. The time between activation and the next billing date is free.
One month worth of data is credited on activation, and another on your first payment date, 1-8 days later. So you effectively get double data for the first monthly payment at no extra cost. You can then change to a lower rate plan ($10/month) and use the banked data allowance.

Thank you for sharing, signed up for $40 then just switched to $10 after first billing cycle started, sitting on 79gb data.
Feel I can just sit in $10 /month until that runs out or gets low.
Way better than the $45 I was paying JB/Telstra 🙂

  • Half price @ Woolies till 25th if it is closer.

  • These are back to $40 by the looks.

Hopeless support, don't bother! Absolutely terrible service from Belong. I would suggest against the headache of using them when other options (Kogan, Boost etc) exist. Plans automatically recharge with no option to disable except contacting support and cancelling the entire plan. We got stung by this when it automatically recharged with the most expensive tier, no worries we can just contact support and get it moved to the cheaper option right? Nope. Support have been hopeless, many messages back and forth and they've done not one thing to help yet, with a strong undertone of telling us to get stuffed.

In contrast a similar issue happened with Kogan and they were quick to rectify the issue after a single message to support. Easily changing the plan over to the desired tier.

    • It sounds like you didn't know what you were signing up for. I even put a link to the Customer Terms in the op.

      Recurring Payment Terms
Your recurring payment date will be displayed on your service dashboard on the date your service is activated. That date will be your regular monthly billing date.

Your right to cancel this service
You can cancel your service by notifying us. We’ll cancel your service within 24 hours. It may take up to 24 hours to process your request, so you’ll need to let us know at least 24 hours before the start of the next monthly bill cycle

Also you can log into your account and change plans anytime after your 1st billing date.

      • No, I saw that, the problem is one of the plan changes didn't go through (it was stuck on pending) and when I went to double check it it was already within 24 hours of the recharge date. If it's within 24 hours they don't accept changes and put it through as the full $40 recharge. Even after contacting support they're refusing to change it to the $10 plan I had already changed it to.

This completely breaks the options in OP.

Again, even other budget providers like Kogan and Catch Connect handle this much better. There's not much point going with a budget group if their dodgy system messes you about and their support is even worse than cheaper options.

        • If you saw it then why did you say -

Plans automatically recharge with no option to disable except contacting support and cancelling the entire plan.

          • @Arthur Dunger: Why wouldn't I restate it? It's another factor against them compared to other providers.

            • @synn: Most people don't seem to have an issue with it. You just open a "Support Request" and ask to cancel your account. Take a screenshot with the date & time so you have proof you did it at least 24 hours before the start of the next monthly bill cycle.

@Arthur Dunger: I suppose we were the unlucky ones then. Didn't think to take a screenshot when changing the plan, haven't had any such issues in the past. Thinking about it, this is more an issue with the provider than the deal so I've removed the negative vote. I'd still recommend going one of the other budget providers though, their support have been much more responsive when I've had to contact them.

@synn: Sometimes if you reply after a day or two through the "Support Request" you will get a different person. I have threatened to leave in order to get my referral credit applied which worked on the 2nd person responding (I missed the spot to enter it when activating once).

Also you can threaten to go to the TIO. Apparently this action ends up costing them money.

@Arthur Dunger: Seems like mentioning the TIO was the key. After I mentioned the TIO they were able to credit the difference between the plans.
