Is that a great price on the GeForce RTX 2080 SUPER Windforce? Worth waiting for the RTX 3000 series or is it likely to be a lot more expensive? I can wait a couple of months, if necessary.

Personally I am holding out for 3000 series, if I wasn't then it's pretty tempting at that price imo

Pretty good price, but I'm hearing September launches for 3rd party 3000 series.

Holding on for the 3000 series myself. There's plenty of deals pop up on graphics cards anyway, so even if you decide to stick with the 2000 series after that based on reviews/prices etc, I don't think you'll be paying more for a 2000 series.

Not a great price considering I bought this exact same card at launch (Sept 2019) from Computer Alliance for $1069. That said, I haven't seen it this low in price since the pandemic hit but I would still hold out for the 3000 series in September.

  • Anybody have any experience with the Omen X?

Not sure why people think as soon as he 3000 series of cards are released that prices for the 2000 series are just going to drop a decent percentage.

This is what was touted when the 2000 series cards were released and it left many people disappointed.

I doubt you will see for example a 2080 Super selling for much less than $1000 AUD within the next 4 - 6 months. Instead expect the 3000 series cards to come at a price higher than what most are anticipating.

    Just my 2c worth.

Agreed, probably not much of a drop I wouldn't think, but the market pricing of cards is probably going to depend on what AMD release and how it compares in terms of performance to Nvidia, so until those come out, I'd expect little to no drop. However, if people are in no rush I wouldn't be jumping on a deal on a 2000 series now until I've got all of the options in front of me to make a decision.

lol thank Toyota for JIT manufacturing/production so the stocks "left over" can be less than demand, that's definitely true however even if the price doesn't drop significantly the new products will likely launch at or close to these prices… and pricing aside with consoles touting ridiculous 4k performance it's fair to say these cards will be as good or better than that.

It is definitely worth waiting and seeing what will happen, i still think we may see a generational change and a decent jump in performance… if you are desperate for a card go for it nothing wrong with that .. if you can wait then my vote is to wait and see.

biggest issue in the past was that AMD had nothing to rival top end nvidia cards… so if they come up with nothing again then yeh these prices will likely stay similar/same… but not get more expensive.

    • I did read somewhere that NVIDIA stopped production of the 2000 series, so prices might even be going up.

      • there is a chance that they might go up but there is always amd cards

To clear stock for 3000 series launch, chance are 30 series launch won't be more expensive than the current 20 series
and rumour that Nvidia manages to produce 30 cheaper than 20 series so all point to 30 maybe for not much more than 20 price

I am waiting for zen 3 and Nvidia 30 for a new PC.

Just hunting for a bargain on cases,PSU, Memory,SSD and Monitor up till then
