Creating a PcPart Picker and found this pretty good deal. Not the cheapest ever but still a great deal considering most AU retailers are 100-200+ (Amazon AU has it for 825.00)

    • True.. but this is only fulfilled by Amazon, delivery date is very wide and not Prime.

  • But which chipset to go with B550 or x570 🤔

    • TUF x570 is $275 from amazon US. I’ve got one on order and seen it in a lot of recent builds.

      • What made you go for that mobo?

        • wanted wifi built in and out of what was available I liked the reviews and specs compared to some of the others. If I didn't want too much in the way of features would have got a tommahawk
edit - also the price at the time compared to other boards

B550 Tomahawk. It's better overall from the reviews i watched. No real need for x570.

      • What do you think of the Asus ROG STRIX B550-E Mobo??

        • Isn't B550-E the one you have to sell your kidney for? The Tomahawk is a great all-rounder as Koipanda said. I doubt you'd ever need anything more unless you're going for competitive overclocks, since anything that'd stress the VRMs too much is going to kill the CPU in a matter of months anyway.

      • Its a new build so I was wondering why I would want x570 considering I wont be using an existing parts from prior gen. Looking at also getting a GTX 2080s

        • b550 with decent vrms like MSI tomahawk will be more than enough. Don't need x570 as the main selling point of pcie gen 4 is offered on b550.

        • Depends what you want to do with it. More channels for cards or drives on x570, some have dual nics etc.

          • @Roger Ramjet: Brand new gaming rig. Looking at 3.5k budget.

Pretty much gaming and will be getting in VR as well

Was looking at the 3700x… might hold off a month or two and see how far the 3900x falls

    • Not a bad idea

(upgrading from 1600) was looking at the 3600… then considering the 3700x for something to last another good 3-ish years… now considering the 3900x because the price keeps falling and is "good value" vs the 3700x. AMD making things hard for us :(

  • Tempting, if Amazon was actually the seller not just the fulfiller I would be inclined to jump on this but I'm in no rush and think these will so go a little lower.

    • I think its the same thing. Fulfilled by Amazon => They handle delivery, returns, support.
