LILLHULT USB type C to USB cord, 1.5 m.

Seems good quality and a good length, especially for $3.50.

Rated 480mbps; 2A.

Thanks to user Connected for posting a similar deal for Lightning (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/556071)

Probably the worst USB-C cable I've ever owned, would not recommend.

Lasted me maybe 2 months in the car before the plastic surrounding the connector failed.

    • +2

Its only $3.50 might last someone longer, Worth a try, At least it didn't damage your device

      • +3

        That's fair.

I'd prefer to buy a better product IMO.
Rather than buying a new cable every few months

Just my experience, I'm sure IKEA would exchange it, I'm glad it didn't damage my device.

Oh, also the only cable that didn't work with Android Auto so far.. Maybe it was because the connector was damaged..?

        • I had the same issue with Android Auto not working with these, tried two cables without success.

    • +4

      I don't think that's fair.
IKEA makes great products for the price especially when it comes to electricity, they're safe and efficient and usually last a long time.

      • +2

        Source?

USB c cables are a nightmare because they have no certs.

        • +3

I worked there and we used to open packages and use their products at work, pretty solid.

          • -1

@The Milk Man: That doesn't mean IKEA have bothered to spend the money on proper circuitry for the better USB C standards.

            • +2

@Tambani: So you say, a worldwide company that puts its focus on safety and reliability will release a terrible terrible terrible product just to cash in?

Some of their items are priced so cheaply they make little to no profit , it's only goal is to get you through the door and engaged , happy. Fill your house with IKEA junk you never knew you needed.

Trust me, if it's IKEA it's up to par.

Is there a warranty, did you discuss with IKEA, is replacement or refund possible.

      • +2

Any product that doesn't state specific lengthy warranty, has a default warranty of 1 year, they will happily replace it 😬✌️
Even without a receipt 👀 they can trace your purchase with phone \ name \ card 🎉

        • +2

Also, in the grand scheme of things in 2020, I think I have better things to put my time and effort towards than making a $3.50 warranty claim.

        • -4

Yes, I've found Ikea very reasonable.
Pre CCP virus outbreak, enjoyed the keenly priced bacon & eggs breakfasts with free coffee refills.

    • blitzwolf was the same for me

      Ikea have 365 days returns.

  • +5

Mine makes a loud click when you pull it out.

    • +3

Mine did this too, but was more like a crackle/rattle and returned it for this reason.

    • +2

It was more of a static/electricity spark sound with mine, dodgy as.

  • +3

I bought this for $7 the other week like a chump. It can't sustain the connection in Android Auto on my JVC receiver, might return it if can't find a use for it other then tying all my Ikea Allen keys together.

  • +6

Personally, I wouldn't recommend. I purchased this item about 1 and a half years ago.

This is the only USB-C cable I have had an issue with. After about a month the connection became loose and the device would intermittently stop and start charging.

The Ikea returns policy is descent if you do run into issues.

    • what would you recommend then?
      👀👀👀

      • +2

        Anker, Blitzwolf or Baseus.

      • +1 for Anker

  • +1

Agreed. This cable is not fit for purpose. Don't waste your money.

    • Please explain.

      • +2

See above. USB-C cables are finnicky at the best of times. I've had lots of bad luck with IKEA electrics quality.

Wouldn't go near IKEA for a USB C functionality. Their cables don't meet any of the useful C standards.

    mfi worth $3.50

  • I use the short cable of this, its around 1m or shorter, great for when I'm using a power bank

  • +1

I purchased this a while ago (sometime last year - don't recall actual date) and have had no issues with it - Maybe I'm not as big of a power user as everyone else here but I use it to charge my phone over night every night without issues.

    • Lots of uber/ delivery drivers itt

  • has anyone received their order from Shopping Square for the USB-C cables (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/552172)??

    • not yet

    • Yes, last week.

  • +2

I also had one of these fail quicker than any other cable I've ever owned. Quick replacement from Kmart still going strong after 6 months though.

  • +1

Bought this over a year ago and use it every night to charge my Pixel. Been great! Would buy again

  • +1

I bought this previously to connect to Android Auto, but unfortunately didn't work at all. It did charge the phone, but didn't really serve my purchase purpose.

  • 2A means it can't fast charge?
