  • It's quite recommended for tech fixers like TronicsFix but you're not going to be assembling IKEA furniture with it.

    • But are the screw bits large enough for some things around the house?

      • I'm not sure what things you want to be screwing around the house but it has standard bits with multiple sizes.

        • Is it powerful?

          • @jayboi: How long is a piece of string? I wouldn't expect it to be very powerful, fine for electronics but nothing more. If you really want a household unit, get the IKEA Fixa one.

          • @jayboi: No, I've used one of these before and its pissweak

  • +8

I think you should of thought about this before you bought it.

    • Tbh I can still cancel it, just wanted it to dispatch today rather than tommorow

      • Maybe cancel it - then decide what you want to screw first and re-buy if you find something to screw.

"Screw it, I'll cancel the order!"

        • +2

I cancelled my order and got a more powerful one for $4.95 extra

@franco cozzo: …no, you're just showing us how "educated" you are.

The collective for pedants is "a boring of".

            • +4

@D C: yes how dare someone appear "educated" what a shameful thing to be
they must have wasted years at primary school to pick up on such a high level mistayk
              what a show off

                @crentist: *mistayk

                  Don't you?

                  • -2

                    @crentist:

                    Don't you?

I don't wander into threads about screwdrivers and show how superior I am by pointing out how the @OP incorrectly used a preposition.

grammer nasi's looser's, on the other hand, just can't help themselves.

                    • +3

@D C: Yes you do. That second link is you wandering into a thread about laptops to talk about a different thread about grammar to show how superior you are for your own views on grammar.

The first link had nothing at all to do with grammar either but by then you were only replying to yourself anyway, so it's more like the sweet babblings of a deranged man in the corner.

                      • @crentist:

                        That second link is you

That now deleted thread was started by a grammer nasi looser to complain about then\than being used wrongly in the laptop thread title. Shock horror!

Said grammer nasi looser took his ball and went home: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/555616 after no-one congratulated him on his intellectual and education superiority. Thin-skinned as usual.

                        The first link

Eh, that's just trolling assorted loosers, like yourself. You always bite.

See the negs? Feel free to add to them.

Now ask yourself, have you helped the @OP in his quest for a screwdriver in any way? No? But you did find the time two get you're pointless grammer nasi'ing on, so well done you.

                        • +1

                          @D C:

That now deleted thread was started by a grammer nasi looser to complain about then\than being used wrongly in the laptop thread title. Shock horror!

Fair point, but you clearly didn't think one thread dedicated to crapping on the grammar nazi was enough, and wanted to get the same vibe going in the laptop thread with a few more jabs to feel superior about.
But from memory, the then/than poster was pretty ESL and could have just been wondering about this common mistake they keep seeing. Jumping on them from the get-go and trying to get people in other threads to pile on is a bit triggered.

                          that's just trolling assorted loosers

Like who? There was nothing related to grammar in that thread, you were just replying to yourself for a couple of days.
Why are you trolling without any kind of prompt?

you did find the time two get you're pointless grammer nasi'ing on

No, I didn't criticise your grammar at all. Just your hypersensitive anti-intellectualism, and now your obsessive fixation on grammar.
More than the "grammer nasi loosers" that you've made up your own cute name for, troll when they aren't around, and "always bite" when they are.

You claim it's a very minor point to feel superior about (even when they apologetically call themselves a pedant), but it's an even smaller point to be so obviously threatened by.

  • Near useless around the house

    • What can it be used for apart from fixing electronics? Is it powerful?

      • It struggled to open the battery door on my acme an@l impaler.

      • …it is powerful like tiger from the jungle!

  • You can use it on tiny screws on phones, handheld consoles, toys and other small electronics. For anything bigger it won't have enough torque or the grip.

For work around the hous get a 8 or 10v cordless screwdriver for small jobs and/or an impact driver for tasks like IKEA assembly, etc.

    • Can I just loosen the screws with a standard screwdriver and just do the rest with this?

      • +2

That pretty much defies the purpose of getting one doesn't it?

        • All the others on Amazon are 3.7 volt at this price and this one is the most compact

          • +5

@jayboi: It is compact for a reason. There is a right tool for the right job. Same reason you would not use a 18v driver to remove an iphone logicboard or use this tiny screwdriver to assemble a bed.

From the questions you are asking it is abundantly clear that you have no idea about power tools. If I were you I'd cancel this and have a think about what my use case is and buy the right tool after doing some research. If you are an electronics enthusiast or repairman this would be perfect for anything else around the house you have wasted your money.

I have the wowstick and I'm not having a go at you here. For the laptop the wowstick would be fine but you could have easily removed 10-15 screws you need to get to the fans easily with a manual screwdriver and a normal screw driver would be better as the wowstick cannot reach screws hidden inside deep holes and at tight spots. I use the wowstick coz I work with a lot of electronics on a daily basis.

<insert requisite quip here re. screwing>

  • I deal with quite a few electronics so these work great for that and I was really happy with my purchase. Stronger then I expected it to be as I didn't expect much from it. But it all depends with you, it may prompt you to want to open more things up, play around with more things or fix up some stuff. But if you're looking for household furniture stuff you'll likely need something bigger.

  • If you're seldom using it, you're better off getting the precision screwdriver kit.

I think it'll be a bit annoying recharging.

Reading the decision making process here is quite extraordinary to my way of making decisions.
It’s like showing up at the car yard and deciding between a Ferrari, a Corolla and a Jeep based on which has the loudest horn.

I mean, I guess it is a factor, but it seems like it comes after some other fundamentals.

  • +1

The biggest problem with all those tool are the bits are too short for most stuff.

You need these sorts of things: https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/351732121162

I've had the Aldi version of this: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4001233920078.html for quite a while which works fine.

Also got one of these the other day: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4000273327213.htm the other day which has a surprising amount of torque. Haven't played with it much, but seem to work. Fairly basic, no clutch or speed settings .Has a 18650 so easy enough to replace if the supplied one is crap. Pulled a microwave oven apart using it, probably wouldn't use it on a phone though.

Merged from Which Electric Screwdriver Should I Get for around The House? eg. Setting up Basic Furniture etc

I want to get an electric screwdriver, My amazon gift cards are expiring tommorow and I am deciding between 2 mainly but feel free to recommend more in the comments that are on amazon.
    First is: Xiaomi Electric Screwdriver
    Second is: Bosch Cordless screwdriver
What do you guys think, Comment down below, If they have the same power then I will get Xiaomi But if the Bosch is more powerful I will get that.
I also want something that will last and be durable.

Don't forget to like and subscribe!

      • LOL, I sound like a YouTuber

    • They are much of a muchness in terms of power. I'd probably go the MIJIA for the USC-C and it looks cooler :)

      • Yes that's what I was thinking as well

    • +2

Use your gift cards on something else and buy this $30 cheaper and you can get replacemnet easier if it needs warranty

      https://www.bunnings.com.au/ozito-3-6v-screwdriver-torch-wit…

      • I have one of those and totally rate it as being pretty good for doing small jobs or for running screws up. Definitely not for trade or industrial use though.

    • Smallest driver that takes standard size bits. Doesn't matter the voltage or brusless.

(Neither options provided are great. Just get an ozito from bunnings when it is on sale.)

    • +2

At least you asked before buying, unlike some.

As tshow said above, an ozito will probably be much better. A cordless drill also works as an effective electric screwdriver, while also being a drill, and likely giving you a battery that you can swap into other "skins" of the same ecosystem.

    • Not again!
Twice in two days…Feel like stabbing myself with a screwdriver now….

    • I'm gonna get this on Saturday. 3 year warranty makes me feel a little better.

I am leaning towards the Xiaomi Electric screwdriver because you guys told me that It has the same amount of power than the Bosch and it has some nice features on board too!
      Or maybe This?

        • I might cancel that

          • @jayboi: Well whatever we suggest, I'm sure you'll cancel it!

        • -1

Yesterday he claimed he got the Xiaomi(Two actually, in the same post he cancelled one and towards the end bought another) as his gift cards were expiring and another post today asking practically the same question once again and apparently the gift cards are still valid. He wants to use the same electric screwdriver to open his laptop and assemble furniture. You would open a laptop once a year at most to clean the fans and op somehow thinks a normal screwdriver is not up to this once a year task. And today this….

Just imagine Op making purchase decisions with something that really matters such as a house or a car!

          • -2

@websterp: I am just deciding and I bought 1 not 2, get that right, and I can cancel the order so Just deciding, So what? Does that matter to you??
