      ?

      • Just a commentary on the influx of disposable masks. It's been eveything from hand sanitiser to eneloops to Bose QC35II at times. The Great kitchen knife war of 2020. Nothing personal, seasonally speaking there is often an item that is, how should I put it politely, overrepresented. This month, it's this. Washable masks, represent.

Better available than unavailable. I'm glad to see the deals.
They were impossible to buy at one time.

Results The rates of all infection outcomes were highest in the cloth mask arm, with the rate of ILI statistically significantly higher in the cloth mask arm (relative risk (RR)=13.00, 95% CI 1.69 to 100.07) compared with the medical mask arm. Cloth masks also had significantly higher rates of ILI compared with the control arm. An analysis by mask use showed ILI (RR=6.64, 95% CI 1.45 to 28.65) and laboratory-confirmed virus (RR=1.72, 95% CI 1.01 to 2.94) were significantly higher in the cloth masks group compared with the medical masks group. Penetration of cloth masks by particles was almost 97% and medical masks 44%.

Conclusions This study is the first RCT of cloth masks, and the results caution against the use of cloth masks. This is an important finding to inform occupational health and safety. Moisture retention, reuse of cloth masks and poor filtration may result in increased risk of infection. Further research is needed to inform the widespread use of cloth masks globally. However, as a precautionary measure, cloth masks should not be recommended for HCWs, particularly in high-risk situations, and guidelines need to be updated.

        Ben Swann fan?

Biggest issue with that video he made is asking the question if masks reduce spread.. presents studies that compare one time use vs cloth masks and from there determiners masks are not effective in curbing spread. Not exactly some of his best work.

Since then has had the original video removed because of false info and done and QnA which I have yet to listen to.

    • Just like all the kitchen knife set deals.. it shall come to pass!!

Coming from China, so might arrive in time for the next pandemic. Maybe.

    • You can get it shipped from the US instead, although I wouldn't trust a US product more than a Chinese one right now.

  • +1

These are from the Chinese warehouse.

    • -6

Yeah, where do you think all the face masks are made?

      • Where all cheap masks are made. China isn't the only producer of face masks but certainly the cheapest

        • +2

I bet its cheaper in India/SEA.

      • +2

They are not being shipped from Banggood's Australian warehouse.

I made no mention of where they are made…

        • -8

Yes, but you made a vaguely racist comment for no reason?

          • +1

@Brofung: I think you are reading too much into it.

          • +2

            @Brofung:

            made a vaguely racist comment

Umm, where was I being racist ???

I stated a fact that you neglected to mention in your description.

            • -4

@jv: Using the word CHINESE in bold like it's some ominous fact. What was your point if you were just stating that fact?

              • +2

                @Brofung:

CHINESE in bold like it's some ominous fact.

                It is a fact.

It is the location of the warehouse they are coming from.

What was your point if you were just stating that fact?

So people know it is not coming from their local warehouse.

                • @jv: This is exactly why I stated 20-35 days shipping time.

          • +3

            @Brofung: What's wrong with you?
We're talking about geographic location not about ethnicity.

Getting masks from an overseas warehouse will take a lot longer than getting masks from an Australian warehouse. Seeing as masks are something one would prefer to have sooner rather than later I'm not sure why anyone would be willing to wait 35 business days?

            • @pennypincher98: I mentioned in the description 20-35 days shipping. I understand if this is a dealbreaker to you, but I don't see why it needed to be added that it comes from China.

              • @Brofung: You do realise that
                a) restrictions are in place for overseas shipping
                b) they mean business days after dispatch
                c) that's just a rough estimate which can vary wildly

                • @pennypincher98: Which goes for any overseas product which I understand. Clearly anything with a shipping time of 20-35 days isn't local stock.

                @Brofung:

I mentioned in the description 20-35 days shipping

                Which is incorrect

                The link states:

                Shipping time:20-35 business days

                Because that's where it's from?
Jesus Christ some people make me ashamed to be Australian.

@jv: I don't need someone who is ok with racism towards Adam Goodes lecturing me about racism…

              • +1

                @[Deactivated]: What?
I would say the exact same thing to something coming from America.
                This isn't about racism.
I have no problem getting a Chinese product from an Australian warehouse.

              • @[Deactivated]: Has it occured to you that some geographic locations have more people from specific ethnicities…

      • Things might have been made in China but soon will longer be the case because of the low quality, toxic, unethical products.

    • +1

These are from the Chinese warehouse.
jv, Thanks for pointing it out. I'll pass. Refuse to buy any COVID-19 related stuffs that made in China.

  • +1

Would take way too long to get here to save like $4

    • Yeah, but I assume we're still going to need them in 20-30 days' time.

      • There's much cheaper sellers on Amazon if you want to wait until mid September for a delivery.
        50 for $22 isn't that great.

  • OP, Put $22.65 Delivered in the title
    EDIT: Already done

  • …these sound as useful as toilet paper at stopping corona virus

    • +1

Why? They're 3-ply surgical masks. They're certainly not impenetrable armour, but they're a lot better than nothing and don't break the bank.

    • +1

Yes, why? Plenty of anecdotal evidence that mask wearing helps to inhibit transmission.

  • +3

Yeah…if I need them, will be long time before they arrived.
Prefer to get local for something like this.

    • -2

You can choose to get them shipped a bit quicker from the US for an extra $1 or $2 if you want. But given what's happening over there right now, I wouldn't blame you if you didn't trust it.

  • +2

I doubt this is even a bargain, same product was available cheaper the other day

  • a stereoscopic 360 ° breathing space.

    what does this even mean

  • Would these be good for mowing the lawn?

    • +3

No, you use a mower for that…

      • yeh…i was gonna say thats gonna take a while if you try that

    • lol

  • wont need them by the time they get delivered

    • 7 Weeks? Remind me to come back here.

  • First Virus came from China
Now Hand Sanitizer and Mask and Mask shields are coming from China.

WHY EVERYONE IS MAKING MONEY ON THE NAME ON VIRUS?

    50 masks @$25 to $35 why

It does not cost that much

Why they are adding more than half a margin?

    • Shipping costs - Freight - GST - Income wages - Duties for border import - Import taxes or something
Profit or fluff added onto of the original production costs.

      • I think, Govt must not charge GST and import tax on those things which is helpful in preventing the virus to spread. So that more people can buy and wear the mask.

        • Then there is no reason to increase the prices apart from just pure greed.
