EB Games are having a trade credit increase on consoles until 23 August. Advert says "get up to" meaning console must be complete and fully working with a controller, power cord and hdmi cable to get full amount.

EB Games will also donate $10 to the Starlight Foundation for every console traded in

      The money will be the same as this or less.

      I'd always assumed 350 would be top for the pro/x

      One way this seems to be better than the trade in for the pro /x
      and what I wasn't expecting -
      No need to trade 2 games with the console I like I did with my pro

      So I'd say go for it now if you're 100% not playing and don't want to do private

        Thanks, I'll check out gumtree first. Some prices are crazy, no idea if people are actually paying that much for used.

        The controller it came with is unused (only use an elite controller), so hopefully that helps sell it.

      Just spoke to someone at pitt st Sydney - there is most likely going to be trade incentive deal coming up - might want to wait

      Of course, he does work for eb so might be lying - it's in their job description

          So the Australian government worked out a deal with Sony and Microsoft to limit warranty to one year or they wouldn't sell the their wares in Australia anymore?

          That's one of the lies the eb games manger of chatswood nsw told me when I tried to claim warranty

    Wow, I can get $230 for an Xbox One S (bundled with games) I purchased for $270 more than three years ago? Count me in!

    That will almost be $500 of store credit. Next-gen pre-order pretty much paid off with minimal effort.

      They'll make it to next gen, but how many they have left in them is anyone's guess. But they've easily got a few months left, so I wouldn't worry about that. This time 5 years from now though, who knows?

    Just spoke to nice dude at the pitt store, he said they might be doing the trade in and it could be more, speculation, but if you're trading in for next gen, he suggested might want to wait

    Also you can't trade the money towards a PS5/xbox and would need to put the money on other stuff then move it to PS5 later.

      Doesn't affect the value. I asked about this when I traded my OG 500GB PS4 in last year as I also upgraded it to a 2TB HDD. I was told that wouldn't change the amount I get for it, so put the original HDD back in before trading.

        Yeah, I did the same thing - I upgraded my OG PS4 to 1Tb, then went to trade it for a Pro and didn't get any more than if it had been the original 500gb. I didn't bother swapping it out for the original since I don't have anything else to put it in anyway so figured it wasn't really worth the time and effort of changing it over.

      Think I’ve seen the S at around $250-$270ish mark, but the prices have been higher the past few years with the AUD falling and the release of the “All Digital” edition which has no drive. Was a while there where under $200 wasn’t entirely uncommon.

      Might drop in price once the new models arrive I’d say, particularly as MS in the past fortnight have stopped producing the All Digital and One X models.

    I called past my local ebgames 30min ago and asked about trading in my Xbox one x and was told I would get $350 store credit and that includes my level 4 20% extra?

    They also said if I could wait till November there should be a better trade deal with trading in on the Xbox series x??

    I gave them a call to enquire about trading in for next gen consoles but was told they can't use the credit to take in preorders for consoles in-store currently as it's possible that console preorders will be online only when they go live. So nowhere to really place that large amount of credit for now. Ah well. I guess I'll wait a bit longer.

        Can't use gift cards for preorders online so you would be taking a risk if they do decide to go online only for console preorders.

        I think they will be able to release them in-store but with 2020 there's always a risk!

          Not 100%, but I'm pretty sure you can. I have open preorders online and just about everything I've bought with them online has been through gift cards, though I've never initiated a preorder online.

      If you purchased an XB1S 1TB from one of those OZB deals, the trade in value right now already exceeds that.

      You could wait for the console preorder trade in deal, but we don't know what that will be like.

      I don’t think there even was trade in deals for the One, PS4 or Switch. There’s also rumours stock won’t be plentiful due to COVID impacting production, and demand may be high for the same reason. Thus little incentive to offer amazing trade in deals to sell new gen consoles. The value of these consoles So far as EB is concerned also drops as soon as they are superseded.

      I’d say it’s a gamble to wait. If you aren’t using your current console I’d offload it now personally. If they do better in November, it won’t be by much anyway. You just need to compare the trade in price to the current RRP to see there won’t be much margin to do better.

    Is it worth trading if I have a limited edition console? It's the spider man version but I see listings on gumtree etc not being sold that are selling for double. I feel like I'd save a lot of trouble just by trading.

      I'd privately sell limited edition consoles as you'll get a heck of a lot more. I'm still gutted that I missed out on the cyberpunk Xbox One X which was selling for $429 and now on eBay they are selling for twice as much.

        I just looked around ebay and the only listing for a used spider man ps4 is going for ~$420 used which is what I would get if I traded with eb (level 4). Also I looked at gumtree and the xbox console minimum price is around $600 brand new. I feel like a lot of its value is lost since its used and think people would not pay as much as what I would get if I traded it.

        Well, they're selling brand new for about $600, maybe $650, so I don't think they're worth as much as you think. Don't forget about the high fees that ebay charges for sold items as well, so the sellers aren't making that much from them. Still better than an ebgames trade anyway.

              If I have $400 over 4 pre-orders I can cancel individual ones and re-distribute funds. Having them on one item really can mess the system up, not to mention inexperienced staff also..
