Good find, look like Aussie stock because they said they don’t sell grey import on the eBay listing

    • +1

Just changed the description, on eBay listing, it says Aussie stock :)

      • Official Xiaomi Aussie 2 year warranty ?

    • +8

      And?

  • +1

So want to buy but so scared. All reviews seem mostly positive in the history thread but I wonder if I should get a 4k screen instead.

Intend to use for gaming and photo work

    • +1

Are you expecting to game with high FPS to take advantage of the increased refresh rate?

Not sure why someone negged you..

      • yes for high FPS,
meh for negging, people are allowed their own opinions :)

4k gaming can be downscaled to 2k if really struggling for power (photo friends do it when gaming for fps).

This screen would be perfect for everyday use and overall gaming. I do like the idea of a 4k screen more focused towards colour repro (ARGB) as i tend to print 1m+ every now and then so I am torn between choosing the best for all platforms.

also not sure if i'll notice the VA vs IPS debate (don't care too much but never had experienced it).

Can't get a 4k photo and a widey like this just yet.

        • I personally have a 3440x440 and prefer it for gaming, great for FPS. 4k is a lot more pixels, very demanding in the CPU. For example I have to pull back settings on AAA games to get 80+ FPS. Obviously game dependant…

          • +5

            @beeze:

            3440x440

What's this, a monitor for ants?

      • its the internet. who knows why anyone does anything on the internet

    • -3

I can hold your hand for you….

    • +1

      I wouldn't game on 4K…….

      • Whats wrong with gaming on 4k?

        • +8

Takes a ton of GPU grunt to drive high frame rates at 4k, 1440p is much more manageable. Depends on the game but high refresh 1440p is generally much more preferable to low refresh 4k.

        • +1

Need lots of graphics grunt to drive it.

      • what loser down votes this, ffs

    • +1

I have dropped my 4k screen for this. Why? Because the typical 28 inch display is to small for 100% resolution if you want to see something properly while this one stays at 100% and I have more work space than on a 4k screen. Unless the 4k is at least 32 inch

      • Yup! I have the Samsung 28 inch QLED 2017 model 4k. Biggest mistake.

    • I have both side by side (widescreen as main, 4k 27 inch as side at 3840x2160). You would think the pixel density makes a big difference but in practice it dosen't. The widescreen is a lot better for usability though.

      • Do you use scaling on the 4K?

I want to grab a 4K screen to run beside my 34" ultrawide (Kogan version of this Xiaomi, same panel), but thinking I would need 32" or 43" to use it without any scaling.

        • No. I just run both at native. My 4k one is 3840x2160. Only 30hz and you can definitely tell the difference against the xiaomi (at 140hz). Do you want to run scalling to get them at the same PPI?

          • +1

            @killingtime:

Do you want to run scalling to get them at the same PPI?

            Nah, for eyesight! :)

Don't need to match PPI, but I just think at 163ppi (27" 4K) text is going to be too small for me to read comfortably. 32" 4K (137ppi) or 27" 4K scaled to 125% (which would have text size similar to 130ppi but with sharper text, because it's still 163ppi) is probably about right for me.

Plus the jump between my 34" ultrawide (109ppi) and 130-137ppi would be less drastic of a difference than to 163ppi. So yeah, not the same ppi specifically, but closer! :)

      • +1

I'll have a similar setup! I receive my ultrawide on monday and I'll keep it alongside my 4k monitor (28"). Ultrawide being the main display and other for me to throw random apps and documents on to.

    • -1

Color is not that good tho. I wouldn't recommend this for photo work.
But 1440p/144hz is good enough for most games. 2K looks OK on the ultra wide

  • +2

Such a good price for an UW, I would buy it myself but the VA response time is nowhere near LG's UW IPS (This VA uses same panel as many other secondary brands and HW unboxed has reviews). But it's almost 1/3 the price soo….

    That and the warranty stuff.

    • Yup, enjoying mine albeit the edges are a bit bright. This is supposedly local stock, so returns and warranty should be OK.

    • Price is no where near as well

  • Now, if only my desk was big enough to fit this :(

    • how many centimeter do you reckon I need for this? 120 CM long?

      • I reckon your desk needs to be at least 1.5x longer than monitor

        • I have a desk with 1m but itx pc

  • +6

can't wait until xiaomi gets an IPS version of this out to market.

  • Is this good for viewing videos?

    • been using it for 2 weeks, it is fantastic watching movies in 21:9 aspect, really have that cinematic feel.

    • +1

if this is not good, then what is good?

  • No HDR. Im very tempted on this otherwise.

    • For this price no way they will give a 10bit panel in it. Also the from many reviews, if you want HDR you want the higher end of it, low-end HDR400 is not worth.

  • Hopefully they have stock.

    • Estimated delivery 19th Aug to Melbourne so I would say that they have stock

  • Still trying to convince myself that this will be ok for me for work/productivity operating as two seperate screens

    • Easily !

      • You doing this now?

    • Depends what you are doing exactly, but i have done that with even the 29" ultrawides and you can fairly comfortably fit two things next to each other.
Im talking a research paper PDF and essay on word im writing next to each other, or internet and excel/word etc. If you have a program needing far more width well it might be more trouble.

    • I use for home and work. You snap left and right a fair bit.

    • I bought one for this exact reason - working from home, I'm replacing a twin 24" workstation.

I've been testing a 2560x1080 ultrawide for a few days and it's sooo close to what I want, just needs more resolution to get the real estate I need to be fully productive.

      • Yeah i'm replacing 2x 27" 1920x1080.

I constantly have ~15 different windows i alt tab around and use. But only ever 2-3 apps up on the screens at any one time.

  • Bought this a week or so ago and just got told by Dell that delivery won't be until Oct - https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/555647

Wondering if I should cancel and get this one??
Not really fussed in IPS vs VA or wide screen.

    • +1

my friends bought the Dell one too and they all waiting for it.

Panel wise much better, you basically paying $500ish for a monitor that's similar to GL850.

    • +3

I cancelled my Dell and take this instead.

      • I have the VA version of that Dell monitor - few years old and it works fine and good enough.

Mixed use gaming and office … thinking this one may be good enough.

      • How did you cancel your dell order? Just email them?

        • Called them on 1300 303 270

          • @J6: Out of stock & I'm on the phone to Dell. Haha!

            • +1

@bad hombre: Don't worry, another deal like this will come soon. It's a new monitor.

    • I bought mine just now from this ebay seller.
      For $585
Its showing as posted allready :)
      ETA wed 19th Aug.

  • +1

Man, how I wish this was an ips instead. High end ips prices scares me lol

  • +4

Was reading up reviews and went back to my ebay link, refreshed and saw 1 left. Bought the last one! Thanks ozbargain….

Hopefully colour accuracy isn't too bad as I do a bit of photo editing work.

    • Should of gone to a ips if you using it for editing :/

  • oos already :(

  • OOS.

  • +1

    took one, thanks op

  • How is this monitor, Ive never owned VA or TN,

just IPS, using acer predator xr34 75hz (Response time (G2G): 4ms)

so response time looks same, and gaming on this Acer 34 looks fine to me,

    • If you're coming from IPS, you WILL notice slightly slower response times, mainly when scrolling and reading text. I have this monitor and I'd say its decent. Good for general use, gaming, movie watching, but if you read text alot, maybe stick to an IPS.

  • This monitor is great.

  • +4

For anyone who missed out here it may be more expensive but the official Xiaomi AU eBay has this for $619.65 with their 3 year warranty using the same 15% off code: https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/402357767044

  • Has anyone managed to get 144hz with a Macbook pro and one of these? I've tried 3 different cables/adapters and I can only get 100hz.

    • Might be worth checking online as I only found out my old XPS ports is not able to support it at the full refresh rate.. Time to build a new comp :)

    • What cables/adapters are you using? I don't have this specific monitor but I'm running at 144hz QHD on an MBP. Was quite a journey.

    • Yup, I got it on MBP2018.

When you're looking for adapters cables - the ones that say 4k@60Hz will do.
HDMI 2.0 has the capacity but this monitor has it blocked at 100Hz. I was only able to get 50Hz.
To get 144Hz you probably have to use the DP cable. I used this adapter:
      https://www.amazon.com.au/gp/product/B07GQPTHVP/ref=ppx_yo_d…
with the cable provided with the monitor and it works just fine.

Side note: untick HDR in 'displays', this is what made colours faded in my case.

Didn't use the monitor for gaming but love it for office use!

  • Damn it, hopefully more in stock.
    https://www.mi-store.com.au/where-to-buy

DigiDirect are official Retailers where Mobileciti are "Official resellers".
I am assuming that warranty is better through the "Official Retailers"?.

  • omg out of stock, anyone else on ebay selling this with the coupon code and is under $600 total?

  • +3

    https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Xiaomi-Mi-Curved-Gaming-Monitor-…

You can still buy it here from DigiDirect at the same price.

    • Good spot. Looks like a brand new listing with 10 units available. Update: Looks like they shut the listing after 3 of the 10 sold

  • +1

Cheapest is $619.65: https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/402357767044. Otherwise you can get it from Gearbyte for $599

    • +1

      What?

    • Are you ok?

  • +4

    Any chance for a restock?

  • +1

I just bought mine from here, I believe it's not Aussie stock but heaps of people have got non-Aussie and don't seem to have any complaints. Shipping was quick and comms was good. Yet to set it up though.

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/553000?page=4#comment-9115…

  • Got this one today, everything is great except for the blur @ 144Hz, other rates fine.. anyone has this?

  • Received mine the other day and loving it so far. Does anyone know how to get a ps4 to display at the right aspect ratio in side by side mode (PBP)? The monitor stretches it vertically there doesn't appear to be an option in the screen's settings to fix this when the PBP feature is enabled.

    • I received mine last week, but I have to return it because they sent me a used monitor, really not happy with that. The seal was opened and the wrappings inside are messy, tried contacting as soon as I received with proofs (photos) and they just ignored the message for 3 days, not impressed at all!

The Pbp is a bit useless I think, because it still expect 21:9 aspect ratio and just squeezed it together.
