      I remember buying the C920 (exact same hardware) for $99 in 2012. Absolutely astounding that people are still giving these grubs their money for this webcam. Should be $30 by now

          • @mwahahaha: I considered that. Can you use droid cam just like an ordinary webcam? E.g., with Zoom, Microsoft Teams, etc. I wasn't sure and never ventured to find out.

  • Been looking into webcams for the last week or so. Hard pressed to find a good deal like this for local stock with most stores either sold out online or grossly inflated pricing. The Amazon reviews of cheaper alternatives aren't flattering but that said, neither is https://www.productreview.com.au/listings/winc …but hey, why not live dangerously in dangerous times?   • Why not just use the laptop cam, asking just out of curiosity

      Some laptops have webcams in insanely odd places. That look up your nose for example (I'm looking at you Dell) . Makes it seem like your always looking down on people too.
      Also when you connect a monitor. The laptop is not necessarily in front of your face so the people get a side profile of you instead.
      I have a webcam and external mic for all my conferences.

    • The image quality from my laptop webcam is quite poor - especially in low light conditions.
      I generally have my laptop off to the side. My primary monitor sits directly in front of me. I'd rather the webcam sitting on top of my primary monitor.

    Tried purchasing this morning and get a payment error. Hopefully they can sort that out as I’ve been trying to find one of these for a while at a reasonable price

        This morning I received another email which starts with 'Your order is confirmed' and only shows the webcam as backorder.

        Now I've received another email which has the winc invoice attached with con note for tracking and shows:

        • You are right - I totally missed the one word on my first email 'backordered' in association with the C922.

          My 2nd email with Invoice is like you say, C922 backordered, Reflex A4 shipping.

          My insider knowledge at Winc is pre-Winc, but my guess is that the C922 is being drop-shipped. Which may also mean that it arrives before Winc sends its next Invoice, but won't know until it happens.

          Did anyone get the C922 shipped out in this deal?

            On my invoice, the status for C922 says '*Backorder Quantity to be shipped at a later date'. That could mean backorder, or could mean to be drop-shippped.

              I have the same status for C922 as yours, the other stuff arrived morning today (19/08), ordered at 17/08 night.

              checked Order History > View Invoice and it says delivery date by "28 August 2020".

          Sounds pretty much what happened to me too.
          13/08: Order placed. An order confirmation was received showing both the C922 and paper as on backorder.
          14/08: A second order confirmation was received showing just the C922 on back order. Invoice received for paper. Both items noted to have been fully dispatched from alternative distribution centre.
          17/08: Goods arrived in separate identical cartons. A second invoice was received for the C922.

    Still waiting for C922 though.

      I logged in to my Winc account and it now says Estimated Delivery by 28 August 2020.

      • My order doesn't even have an Estimated Delivery date under Home > Track Order. Do I need to look somewhere else?

          As I've tried to point out above, I believe the c922 is being drop-shipped, which means winc have sent the order to another company that has the inventory, and that third party will ship it to us. When this happens, data transfer can be a bit weird so that you see delays in their systems.

          tl;dr - wait for someone to get a shipping notification or arrival

          Chat agent explained that mine will be ready at warehouse on 4th September to be delivered 2-3 business days after as well

      "Upon checking here, the item will arrive at the warehouse on 3rd of September and will be delivered to you within 2-3 business days."

      Expecting it will arrive the week after it arrives at the warehouse and we'll all going to get ours in the same timeframe :)

  • For what it's worth I ordered this webcam plus a Logitech H390 headset, and was advised:

    "Upon checking the item Logitech H390 USB Headset it will be available on the 09.09 while item Logitech C922 Pro Stream Webcam is on 08.09 and Delivery would take 2-3 business days for Metro areas and 5-10 business days for Country areas after the arrival date of item in our warehouse"

    Placed my order 2 weeks ago. Got the paper immediately and this morning a cancellation notice on the webcam. Poor form.

    • Logged in to Winc and mine says "Completely Despatched" for the camera. I checked yesterday and it still said "waiting to be dispatched".
      I haven't received any email notice yet though.

      • Okay nevermind, I just saw it's "Completed Despatched" because they cancelled it. What a shame. Haven't even received notification of cancellation.

        Maybe I'll get them to process a return of the paper in spite since I haven't even opened the box. That's if they don't make me pay for return shipping.

      Mine was cancelled too. My live chat agent claims there were no notes for my cancellation, that
      "the item is long term out of stock without alternative…expected eta to restock is 14/09."

      I feel so let down. Surely they'd notify us much earlier if they knew our orders couldn't be fulfilled.
      So much patience and waiting for naught :/

    I'v asked for it to be escalated. We'll see if I can get someone who knows whats going on. Clearly some bad practices going on here…. its not that hard to sell what you will have in stock, as opposed to taking orders and working out stock later.

  • Wow! These guys are so dodgy!

    First they cancelled my webcam, then today they charged me an extra $11 for the shipping of the order that never happened! Apparently that's the shipping cost for the $7 junk that I ordered with the webcam.
    So basically I paid $18 for nothing ($7 Junk + $11 Delivery) instead of $151 for Webcam ($143 Webcam + $7 Junk + $11 Delivery - $20 Discount) to $18!

    Interesting business model!

    PS: I called them and after a lengthy discussion, they agreed to return the shipping cost as a "one time favour"!

    Saw my order as cancelled too, what a bummer and definitely not happy. Really dodgy practice here happening. Good thing that they only charge me for the other stuff and not the webcam so I don't have to chase them up for a refund (which has problems in their process reading reviews online).

    Edit: Got no email of cancellation as well, just out of curiosity I check on my order history on their website today and found out it's cancelled on their end. The reason I'm checking is that the customer support I contacted last week states that they'll get some stocks today.

      • Forget it. Just had a talk with WinC and they're very sure that the Webcam will not be delivered this Sept, and the ETA is Nov (WTF?). They also said the charge was pre-authorised. I've cancelled the Webcam and asked for refund. I'm done with this.

    Just had a talk on their live chat, here's what I got from the agent:

    I asked why my order was cancelled and here's the answer that I got = "Upon checking the item is now tagged as Long term out of stock that's why it was cancelled."

    Also asked why I didn't get any notification about cancellation and here's the answer = "we are still working out on sending emails to the cancelled item. Apologies for the inconvenience."

    When asked about the first order voucher and how we all won't be able to use it anymore = "Okay. I could forward that note to our relevant team. Kindly provide your email address so I can update you on how to addressed that kind of situation."

    and yeah last I said that they should not put the item on sale if they don't have stock and all the agent said was apologies.

    EDIT: Also here's another one from the agent after talking for a while: "I think volume of orders for the item was not anticipated correctly (as recently volume for items like webcams is high)and delay with our vendors adds up to that."

    Not sure if it's a robot answer, but yeah looks like many of us won't get their webcam and their email notification of cancellation.

  • I sent them an email yesterday asking why my order said it was complete by having the camera cancelled.

    Just received a reply back saying they're reinstating my order for the camera and expected replenish date is 14 September.

    Checked on the product page and it also says 'In Stock 14 September'.

    I guess I'll hold out another 10 days to see what happens.

  • Add another to the cancelled without notice. Poor form. Personally, I would like a choice of not waiting 1-2 months for an item even if it means paying slightly more or choosing an alternative. Then again, shouldn't be surprised, here in Melbourne we don't even have a choice about much these days…

    Update from me today:

    After the discussion with the Live Chat support on 04/09. I haven't receive any email cancellation and the customer service agent just ended the chat apologising. Today (07/09) at 2.30 pm, I receive a charge from Winc to the amount of the webcam in my bank account, I immediately check my order status on the order I made and found out that the webcam went from "Cancelled" back to "Being Processed". I didn't ask them to reinstate my order or anything, just had a bit of chat that I summarized on the post above.

    We'll see how it goes on the 14th of September because it seems that's the restock date on their website. Fingers crossed

    Hey it's me again with another update! (Hope you're not bored seeing my name a lot in this thread)

    So today (08/09) morning, I receive an email notification saying my order has been dispatched and then at 11.30 am the webcam arrived!!!

    Well that was a quick turnaround from the sudden pre-authorised charged in my credit card to the delivery. I am happy that I finally get my webcam, but the thing I'm unhappy with is they didn't ask me beforehand if I still want the webcam, instead charging my credit card immediately and reinstate my order without me asking for it/giving consent. Had I decided to purchase another webcam after they cancel my order, I will end up with 2 webcams and 1 won't ever be used! So yeah mixed feelings here both happy and unhappy at the same time.

    For people that still want their cam, I think best for you to do the same thing as me (leave a review on ProductReview, more details provided below) and wait for the WINC rep there to sort things out for you there.

    Summary of events:

    17/08: Put an order after seeing this thread

    19/08: Other stuff arrived, not the webcam.

    28/08: Asked customer service agent using live chat in their website, in which I got a reply that they will have stock on 03/09 (refer here https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/558958#comment-9208243 )

    03/09: Checked the website for my order history and saw my order getting cancelled without any notice. Didn't receive email notification as well (refer here https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/9238657/redir )

    04/09: Talked to their customer service agent again in their website asking for explanation on why my order was cancelled and asking about the first order voucher that was void but we didn't get the item we want (answers from them here https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/558958#comment-9244230 ).

    At this day, I also left a 1-star review on the ProductReview website. After I left the review, the WINC representative there private messaged me for my order number and told me they were going to investigate. No more message from them afterwards.

    07/09: My credit card was charged (pre-authorised) for the amount of the webcam and I was shocked! Immediately opened my order history in the website and saw there my order went back from "Cancelled" to "Being Processed". At the same day, the WINC rep at ProductReview messaged me saying that my order is being reinstated and they are finally able to secure some webcams from their supplier and will be dispatched to me soon.     08/09: Received an email saying my order is being delivered today and on 11.30am the webcam is delivered to me.

      They did so immediately, saying 'I have reinstated your order', and I received the charge for the webcam straight away.

      No ETA for delivery as the order was reinstated just now, but I'll keep an eye on my Track Order page for updates

        After my order was reinstated by them without notice, I received the charge for the webcam and No ETA for the delivery as well.

        Just received the shipment notification today (which is a day after order reinstated so yeah the delivery time is a surprise, lucky mine is a day after). I don't think there will be any ETA but just a delivery notification on the day they decided to ship it to you.

      After re-instating my order on Friday, mine still says backordered and I haven't been charged.
      Sounds like a mess on their end though.

      • That's weird, my order got re-instated yesterday by their end without notifying me and I got charge right away. Without the charge my card I wouldn't know that my order has been re-instated. And then I got my cam today.

        I would suggest to go to ProductReview site and leave a review or try messaging the rep there, I found that the rep there is more helpful and provides decent answer rather than the live chat that provides us "automated replies" and not really solving problems. I think the investigation work that the rep did there made my order status re-instated without notice.

        I have to agree with you that it seems that this is messy and they have no coordination between the customer service rep, the warehouse and other division.

  • Mine has gone from backorder straight to on-board delivery with driver….. maybe the GM has a car filled with them driving around! Bizarre set of circumstances given it wasn't supposed to arrive until 14th Sept…. not sure anyone knows whats going on. Anyway, I will believe it once it arrives and I open the box.

      We all got ours as you see above but we have placed our order on the 17/08 and got all our orders cancelled so yours might be a different case to us since it hasn't been cancelled. I'd suggest following up with them since it's 15/09 now and they should have stock ready now.
