BenQ PD2700Q 27" 2K QHD 100% sRGB IPS Professional Monitor $479 + Delivery @ Mwave

560

I was looking for an additional work monitor for a while and finally decided on this one. Seems like a really good price for this monitor. Highly adjustable for work (swivel for portrait mode etc.). Excellent for image editing and design work (100% sRGB) and I read that the colour reproduction is excellent on this. You won't find anything that is professional grade at this price.

If you're looking for a large, adjustable monitor with a good resolution (2k IMO is better than 4k if you're using it for work - no need to deal with scaling issues @4k), this seems to be the best pick from what I could see. The bezels are not as thin as many Dell models (example, Dell S2719DC, which was featured a couple of days back on Ozbargain), but I feel that for work, this monitor will be a better option due to being adjustable with a wider colour output.

    Damn those are huge bezels

    • +3

Hahaha, that's the biggest negative outside of gaming performance.

Thin bezels are overrated IMO though..

      • +13

But if you're going for dual monitors, the thickness of the bezels matters a lot more

        • +3

It's just a matter of personal preference thing at the end of the day.. Pros and Cons as with most tech items (unless you're willing on spending $1k+ for a monitor, and in that case the con will be the price lol)

          • +10

@Crimzin: When I use dual monitors for work I use them as well and truly screens. Bezel size doesn’t matter as I never have anything spanning them. Totally a personal preference though, guess with gaming you’d be spanning screens.

            • @Forrest Rivers: Yeah, I do quite a lot of sim racing so need the bezels to be as thin as possible

              • @Omk4r123: Probably want something with a higher refresh then? I game on my 60hz screen and it's okay, but if I was a serious gamer I'd be getting at least a 144hz minimum.

                • +1

@nafe: Nah, my PC can't push 144hz. I previously had a Samsung 144hz QHD and my GPU just couldn't keep up, especially with triple monitor

          • @Crimzin: Tell that to me who purchased thin bezel higher spec 2k Dell monitor on its glorious sale hehe Dell 27" IPS 2k

            • +1

@LiMaaa: now you have a monitor that will last longer as you upgrade your PC. That Dell offer was good!

I'm using 2 x SW2700PTs and they also have big bezels. It really isn't an issue for work, or for photo editing as I'm not spanning stuff across both screens. If I needed that for big Excel sheets etc I'd get a widescreen instead.

      • 12ms is not gaming performance lol

when I see 100%, I always feel like 100% cash back

Bugger, bought this a month ago at Officeworks for the very average price of $550 when I had to go back to working from home. Was the only one I could buy the same day that ticked all the boxes. Gorgeous display and love the freedom of movement. Found 27” 1440p to be the sweet spot for work, 32” was way too much eyeball movement at the desk. I found the builtin speakers to be an added bonus, good enough for watching training videos etc. A great buy at this price.

      HI,

Does text looks crisp? Will it be good to be used with MB 16? thanks

      • +2

Yeah text looks really crisp, use it with my HP ProBook 430 G4 home laptop and my Dell Inspiron work laptop, makes me realise how grainy text looks on them when I unplug them. I assume you mean MacBook 2016? Both the laptops I use only have intel HD graphics but work fine as they support up to 4K. I know with the old but gold Dell U2711 1440p monitor that I had to setup a custom graphics mode in the intel HD graphics control panel which I had to install first.

        • thanks for kind reply. I meant to say macbook pro 16".

          • +2

@aznain: It should work fine with a MBP, but ensure you use the DisplayPort for the best resolution. Additionally, you will need to get an active USB-C to DisplayPort cable or adapter, otherwise you just won't get a picture at all. The cable/adapter won't be cheap, expect to pay at least $60-$80 for a good one; Mwave seem to have a few on their site that are rated for 2K/4K/8K,

          • +1

@aznain: I had a 27” iMac with the same res display as this BenQ of 2560 x 1440. That equals 109 ppi (pixels per inch).

It’s decent but it does look grainy compared to the “retina” iMac 5k model which is 218 ppi, and that’s lower than the 16” MacBook which is 226 ppi.

Most people tend to work a bit further away from a 27” display so a high pixel density’s not as critical but it’s worth a demo to see for yourself.

@Soave: Thanks for kind reply. Which monitor do you recommend which looks like iMac 5k or something similar ( for office work / programming, media consumption, reading ) ? help in this regard will be highly appreciated. At office, i use iMac 5K and after using that, normal monitor seems hurting eyes.

              • +1

@aznain: I’m sorry I don’t have a recommendation. Maybe smaller 4k monitors are worth checking out at this price point? Hopefully you can try some out before buying.

      • why neg?

        • Ha that was me and my fat fingers, sorry! Can’t seem to undo it…

  • This or the Dell S2721DGF?

    • Thinking of cancelling Dell?

    • I have been using this monitor for a year. I think it's in the same level with Dell U series.

    • +1

Depends what you use it for. The Dell was designed for gaming, this was designed for professional work that prioritises colour accuracy.

  • Same price at Scorptec with ETA of in stock August 19th

    • Tried purchasing from Scorptec and seems slightly higher shipping costs, so ended up getting it from mwave. Hoping that it will come soon

Free delivery in Vic though according to the banner at the top. Didn’t look in to it much though.

  • Warning, I've been using this monitor for 3-4 months. It has quite noticeable input lag, I honestly do not enjoy using it for anything other than colour work. I have an old benq 24" 120hz monitor next to it and I use that for almost everything as it's just so much smoother and more responsive. I think if you have never used a 120/144 monitor before you should be fine, but side by side it's painful.

    • Can you tell while typing or using for work (ie. excel/word)? Assuming it's the same as any other 60hz monitor?

      • I can notice it for literally everything. I lonly have it open for lightroom and every single other thing I do is on the other monitor. My last monitor was a dell u2717d, I honestly do not think that one was as bad as this but I can't compare now. It just feels so sluggish to me.

        • Reminds me of the Dell 30" monitor I was using previously at work. You wouldn't think high input lag would be annoying for non-gaming tasks, but when you're used to monitors with low input lag, using high latency monitors becomes frustrating and the sluggishness of mouse movement becomes headache-inducing.

    • 12ms is really bad. most ips have 5ms.

      • +1

        That's not true.

Comparing this to the Dell u2415 monitor I have (not a bad display, sells for ~400).

        BenQ:
        4ms grey to grey
        12ms black to white
        60hz

        Dell:
        6ms grey to grey
        19ms black to white
        60hz

The Dell has been perfectly fine, and the BenQ specs look better. So I really don't think it will be an issue unless you're a high level gamer..

  • If a second or primary monitor is the criteria for an everyday office job I would recommend the one below around the same price. Probably no good for colour work but looks and performs loke a gem. Screen is amazing too. PLS so best of both screen types. https://www.centrecom.com.au/samsung-s27h850qfex-27-wqhd-led…

    • why the samsung one is better with 50 bucks more?

      • This Samsung has picture in picture, USB C and looks a damn lot nicer.

    • I just bought that Samsung model, factory refurbished, hopefully I don't regret it, but only paid $410 for it.

With USB C and picture in/by picture looks great can't wait for it to arrive.

      • For the record: I did regret it, kinda, it arrived, took it out, it looked lovely then i turned it on and my heart sank … cracked screen
        https://ibb.co/ZX3NQ5v

Contacted seller, got an immediate refund, and doesn't want it back, but it looks like such a cool monitor, I just wanted it to work.

  • Good price I guess. Note if you're buying this for colour critical work out of the box accuracy will not be enough, you'll need to calibrate it before relying on the sRGB coverage and accuracy.

  • Had big issues with this and a surface dock. Screen would not wake after surface went to sleep. Other screens worked fine.
    something to consider.
