Lets boycott chinese as they boycott another Aussie wines industry

    • +4

      Absolutely agree.

      • +12

First China claims we subsidise many industries we simply could not afford to subsidise. Second, China is one of the biggest hypocrites in this regard, engaging in endless market and currency manipulation. China only makes these claims because it is a way to bury imports in bureaucracy without technically breaching international trade agreements. It’s a leveraging tactic to exert influence. Third, that’s not racism as it is not a any comment on the Chinese people but comment on the policies of their government.

        • +5

This. Simple. Chinese government = bullying into submission. The world is waking up to this tatic. There is absolutely no problem with Chinese citizens.

      • "nobody is above the law" - said by the international law breaker.

yes.. buy Aussie made wifi adapters… lol.

      • +1

At least the original invention was Australian :-)

        • +1

So technically all wifi adapters are Australian and the CSIRO has the lawsuit to prove it ;)

    • Tell the guys in charge to quit mouthing off.

    • personally, i think this is very political, which i am sure everyone know what is going on among US and China, and Australia is just happen to be in the middle

As we are on pandemic, i think we need to save up and spend wisely, instead of become a piece of the soldier chess by listen to the political influence. In the end, we are the one who will make a lost if we are influence by politics

As for myself, i only lean towards whichever cheaper to cover my living needs, disregards which country produce it.

If you are poor, there is a china product VS non-china product, in which china product is cheaper, which one will you choose, and have you thik what will happen with your future life ?

Even US big companies, keep investing in china, because they know china have a lot of population, and they can get product cheap due to the chap labour…

in the end, you are still buying something but made in china sell by reputable non china company, so, in the end, who make the profit? it is the big companies, and the soldier like us need to pay more expensive stuff

US very afraid of china to be over powerful than them, thats why US keep influencing others to boycott china, so US can keep to be no 1

Why do you say it's Chinese? This is shipped by an Aussie ebay seller via Australia Post. Volans is an Australian computer company https://www.volans.com.au/

Volans is apparently named after a constellation in the southern sky that is not even visible from China. We can avoid Made in China products, but this is getting ridiculous.

I believe people are referring too the list specifically stating “Country/Region of Manufacture: China”. That said, I can’t imagine finding a decent high gain wifi on a budget that did not come from China.

    • No more chinese, I can live without peking duck but what about mongolian beef? Technically not Chinese?

  • Anyone have experience with this or have a recommendation for other wifi dongles around $50?

I have an ebay one, same form-factor, different brand. Works well on 5GHZ, where all devices (i tried many) on 2.4 were not working well despite showing good reception. My internet is ~50 Mbps, cant tell you how it is for faster or 2.4 needs.

Looks like a good deal. I got the tp-link alternative for about $75. This should have very similar performance.

    • Usually I'd consider the noname alternative of unknown quality to be at least 2-4x cheaper to approach the reasonable deal definition.

better go with a reputable brand, like Netgear, Asus

Is AC next generation? Thought AX is.

    • AC1900 is the highest USB WIFI can go.

      • But that’s just to date. USB AX/wifi6 will show up eventually.

  • +1

Can we have a deal for the AC1200?

    • hi, maybe next time :)

  • Can anyone tell me the benefit of using this over a range extender/booster?

    • +1

hi, this is just wifi adapter which give your Pc/laptop wifi function if built-in module is broken or simplily not installed.

    • my PC does not have a wifi card, nor a free spot. I use one of these, tried WPS and other methods, using something like this (was a different brand, but looks the same) works well for my 50 Mbps interwebs.

    • +1

If you need to have a long range connection generally a high gain antenna configuration will be faster than a range extender which just trash your bandwidth.

  • Current AU gov't: WE HATE CHINA! CHINA IS BAD!

Also current AU gov't: please, have all of our natural gas for no charge (little johnny howard) and we'll charge OUR people more to make up for it, also please buy all of our water rights and here's a bunch of AU land, too! Please don't hesitate to ring if you need more!

They're a bunch of manipulating BS artists.
