Wish they could tell you what version it'd be.. stupid selling something with the same model number and different IC's..

    • +1

Ah, so there's different versions of the Corsair Vengeance RGB PRO 32GB (2x16GB) DDR4 3200MHz C16? I can fire a question at the seller and if he responds, add it here. Just not sure what to ask.

I see a Question and answer. Does this maybe shed light?
      Question:
Is this native 3200Mhz or 2133Mhz that can be overclocked to 3200?
      Answer:
      * No need to overlook you afto get into your bios and enter 3200mhz if you don't it will remain at 2133mhz . I still haven't done it yet .but that was my research on YouTube
      * I believe it would depend on the cpu, if you are running intel, with intel cpu's you could run in xmp profile which should speed it up, but out of the box I think 2133mHz is the intel board limiting the speed even though it 3200mHz memory speed is what this memory is designed to run at.
      * All memory is native 2133, you need to enable the XMP to achieve the rated speed, regardless whether it is 2666, 3000, 3200 or 4000+. It isn't going to automatically switch to the rated speed.
      * You have to have a compatible motherboard that can set the clock speed to 3200
      * I think its 2800 standard.

      • +1

PC Gear website says this ram's SPD Speed is 2133MHz.

      • +1

fastest stock (non xmp) ddr4 is 2666Mhz

      • Is this native 3200Mhz or 2133Mhz that can be overclocked to 3200?

Anything above the JDEC spec is an overclock. It's just that the kit is being sold as having been verified to run at 3200 MHz. You could even possibly run it at higher than 3200 MHz, but that hasn't been verified.

For the record, most slower kits will also run at 3200 MHz if you enter the speeds and timings manually. DDR4 is quite old now and unless you're buying 32GB sticks, the yields are quite good. The only real difference between something like a 2666 MHz, 3200 MHz, and maybe 3600 MHz kit is simply just the pre-loaded XMP profiles and (maybe) the required voltages to hit higher speeds.

        • This is very interesting. Thanks. But it leaves me confused as to what ram I should buy! Does ram tested at 4000MHz cost more than ram tested at 3200MHz? Even though they might be structurally the same.
          I'm getting a 3900x and a x570 mb.

          • +1

@ausmomo: Yes you pay a premium for the guaranteed quality.

          • @ausmomo: Yes, that is correct. The 4000 MHz RAM has been verified to run at 4000 MHz, the 3200 MHz one has not. Whether that's worth paying for, I don't know. In general, I would personally not pay extra for 4000 MHz RAM vs. 3200 MHz RAM. If you only need 16GB, maybe it's fine, but if you need 32GB or 64GB, the difference in price is quite a lot and the performance benefit is not there.

          • @ausmomo: make sure you check the compatibility list on your mobo before you buy the RAM, it ensures that the ram will be able to run at 4000 MHz

      • enable xmp will automatic enter the memory speed and timing for you. save and reboot. the system will run at the xmp speed. If you have no idea about xmp, you should not consider anything about overclock, just load xmp and that's it.

I believe this has been asked before on Corsair official support forums. Will try to find a link. Their answer from memory was that "We don't keep track of Serial numbers to Die mappings"

Sounds like BS to me but what they probably meant was: "We don't keep track of Serial numbers to Die mappings for external consumption"

Also it doesn't seem to be listed here

  • Wondering if I should get my own post. :)
I've ordered a Ryzen 7 3700X on a MSI MGP B550 Gaming Plus board. This is, as far as I can see, not the fastest memory at 3200Mhz and CL16. would there be any benefit in hunting for 3600Mhz, or 3200Mhz and CL14? Or am I climbing into the deminishing returns realm?

    • f (also wondering)

    • Im try to hunt 16gb @ 3200Mhz CL 14. Seems to compete well against 3600 cl16 and thats without any OC.

I found this link helpful for my build.

      https://www.gamersnexus.net/guides/3508-ryzen-3000-memory-be…

    • I was running a 4000 CL18 GSkill 16GB kit at 3833 CL17 for a while on a 3700x x570 A-PRO with no problem if that helps. Ran a benchmark very early on. Don't have exact number but I remember it was much quicker than anything I had fiddled around with before that around the 3200 CL14 mark

      • Gee, how much did that set you back?

        • +1

They're not that expensive actually. I bought them used back then for a reasonable price.

You can find them for $167 right now

          https://www.skycomp.com.au/gskill-ripjaws-v-16gb-2x-8gb-ddr4…

I know a friend of mine is running a 32GB kit of 3200Mhz ripjaws on a Ryzen 3900x overclocked to 3866 without a problem.

Disclaimer tho: He selected the 4 out of about 20 sticks. So if you're only gonna buy 4 sticks don't expect the silicon lottery to be in your side

          • @er1992: He's running his infinity fabric clock at 1933mhz??? If that's a decoupled speed then it would be arguably worse than 3200 cl16

            • @NigerianGirthLord: indeed.. many people forget this limitation.

            • @NigerianGirthLord: You're right. I must be mistaken. It probably was only running at 3800 and not 3866.

1900 is not a hard limit tho. If you've really won the lottery you can get it stable at 1933. Most likely not going to work on any 3600 or 3700. Mid 2020 productions of 3900s and 3950s would have much better luck trying it

    • FWIW, i bought this ram 6 months ago.

1 of the modules died so have to RMA it.

That said - apparently you would be netting gains of circa 5-10 fps depending on the game.

    • +2

see my post re: AMD compatibility - you should be looking for the CMW32GX4M2Z3200C16 Corsair Pro RGB kit for AMD systems.. this model number is optimised for Intel chipsets and was not listed in my AMD motherboard's memory compatibility list.

  • +5

Is this the best looking rgb ram? I can't overclock my ram anymore so am hoping the red colour will make it go faster.

    • +1

lol. I've tried a few of the major RGB rams. Trident Z, Vengeance Pro, T-force Delta, AData XPG, Kingston HyperX.

I reckon Trident Z has hands down diffuses the best out of the bunch and it looks really sharp. But for the money I always go with Delta. Super cheap and RGB flares out to a good size. Vengeance Pros are really good too if they're on sale for the same ish price, grab them.

      • Dominator - Stack Lighting Profile as I speak, love it :)

Audio Visualiser would be ok if it worked with non Corsair Audio like the fans can oddly.

        • +1

Seconded for the Dominator Platinum…although I paid $300 for my 32gb 3200MHz stick, the build quality and the individual block LEDs make it look so much more unique

        • I can see how people like them and they could go well in certain setups. It's very subjective but just not a fan of the looks. More into the single strip look with highly diffused and sharp lighting.

Also the price is through the roof.

  • Any idea how long this deal is avaliable? got a refund currently with other RAM, not sure if amazon will refund credit, or back to my card anybody know?

    • Amazon won't refund credit unfortunately, though gift card balance is possible

      • So, i if i refunded my purchase, they wont refund the money? only gift card?

        • +1

If you paid with Amazon credit/gift card, it will go back to gift card. If you paid with credit card, it will go back to credit card.

If you paid with a mixture, it will go back to the original payment methods as per above.

          • @currentfad: Thank you :)

Paid with CC, seems its going to take 65 days to process anyways according to their website..

            • @blinkybro: I have never waited such a long time for a refund (assuming it's an Amazon fulfilled product). Normally 5 business days max.

              • @currentfad: it is yeah, just sent it back via parcelpoint the other day, (no email notification yet)

So has to go to AU amazon, then back to US it seems?

                Tyty insightful :)

                • @blinkybro: Oh right different if the item needs to be returned.

However if it was Amazon's fault (e.g. faulty/wrong product) you can push the Amazon reps via online chat/phone to refund you before the product gets back to them.

You can say that you need a replacement product immediately and you cannot afford to fork out another few hundred dollars in the meantime - they will refund you (again, assuming it is Amazon's fault).

                • @blinkybro: Amazon will give you a shipping label to print for prepaid return to au address. Money was in my account a couple of days later even though ram shipped from Amazon US.

  • Pretty awesome deal

  • -1

Mine just arrived last week from the previous deal, Returning it and saving $18

    • +1

Contact Amazon and see if they can refund you the difference in credit instead. Less wasteful.

      • They refused to do this for me when I bought a CPU via the US.

    • It'd probably cost more than $18 just to return it, not sure how you'd get a free return as it's a change of mind, unless you lie about it I guess

      • Yep, told them it didn't arrive on time and the return was free.

  • Wish the white kit was the same price. my current system has the white version, would like to match.

    • It was down to $210 just 2 days ago!

      • +1

        y u do dis to me? :(

        edit: camelcamelcamel alert created

      • on amazon? I think it's back to 239 now… =(

  • I had all kinds of issues getting these to 3200, most they would do is 2933. Stacks of reports of the same. Ended up returning and going with Trident. A whole lot happier and better.

  • Good deal.
I bought these 2 months ago at $240.
RAM is just getting cheaper and cheaper.

It's as if DDR5 is around the corner..

  • This model RAM is apparently Intel certified and not AMD certified (I don't know if that means it won't work on an AMD motherboard, or just optimised for it)

if you have an AMD CPU and motherboad - make sure you check the motherboard maker's website to make sure this RAM is compatible with your system. The ASUS X570 Prime motherboard I bought did not support this RAM but does support the Corsair Vengeance RGB PRO 32GB (2x16GB) DDR4 3200MHz C16 - model CMW32GX4M2Z3200C16 (which is Ryzen certified).

See my old post here - https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/488279

Please research before you buy and potentially may need to do a return.

Crap! I’ve been accumulating parts for the past month. I’ve got a Ryzen 3600, Asus tuf b550m-plus wifi (m-atx) and this exact ram. CMW32GX4M2C3200C16

Looking at the website qvl, this ram isn’t listed. But the other one you mention (with a z) is. Am I screwed???

      • +1

        same ,waiting for motherboard atm

      • +2

Ah! I have the same and already installed into a 3700x and B550 Aorus Master MB. Have not played with XMP yet as only got the system running today. However, I did check the MB compatibility list and the CMW32GX4M2C3200C16 is listed whereas the CMW32GX4M2Z3200C16 is not which is why I went with the CMW32GX4M2C3200C16 kit.

        :(

I will play around tomorrow and keep anyone that is interested updated. Send me a PM and will be more than happy to share if I get it working.

      • +1

Probably be fine, 3rd Gen Ryzen is far less picky about RAM than 1st and 2nd Gen.

      • +1

I hope not.. but as said, I don't know. I bought an x570 board and an AMD 3700X so figured if I was spending that much already I'd make sure the RAM I bought was listed as being supported and XMP compatible - maybe at worstit doesn't have as tight timings as the certified 'Z' model RAM.

        https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9IY_KlkQK1Q

    • Thanks was able to cancel mine. Was with AMD umberlla and glad they didnt ship these as i could cancel.

  • I have this kit and can only overclock to 3533 cl16, it is cjr-tfc dual rank. So if you want really high speed overclock, dont buy these, you need to buy single rank ram. But for daily use I think it is fine. Looks good.

    • +1

I'm confused/concerned now. I cannot see if this ram is compatible with my board (MSI B550 MGP gaming plus). I still have time to cancel my order. Is there a better choice in the same ball park? Or will this work, and run at, at least 3200?

      • 3200 is guaranteed with xmp enable if it is on the qvl. So do you want to overclock this to over 3600? if not, this is a decent kit for the price.

  • +1

Waited 4 years to populate the other 2 ram slots on my motherboard.
Thank you @Cralis there goes $200 dollarydoos !

  • If you only want 3200, just run xmp, it is easy. But you want to overclock to over 3600mhz, let’s say 3800, you might need to find something else. If you don’t plan to do much overclock, it will be fine just xmp enable, you are all set. I’m running this kit with msi b550m mortar.

    • My Motherboard is still on it's way. It's an MSI MPG B550 GAMING PLUS - But I cannot see any compatibility lists. Will I at least get 3200 out of this RAM? Maybe more?

      • 3200 should be no problem. Just enable xmp. If you have never done ram overclock , just run it at xmp speed. Unstable overclock will casue a lot issue.

  • For those that have a B550 Aorus Master I can confirm that this works at 3200. Just enable XMP and set everything to Auto.

When I set XMP on it pretty much detected everything - no need to tweak anything.

  • any idea if this will be compatible with the Techfast Biostar a320mh mainboard? I ordered G.Skill Aegis 32GB (2x16gb) 3200MHz CL16 and they didn't work.

    • what is your cpu? it will affect the max ram speed you can get.

      • My cpu is AMD Ryzen 5 1600 AF. The mainboard only supports up to 2933 I believe. I just want to upgrade my ram to 16gb or 32, so don't really care the ram speed.

        • So you just need manually set the ram speed to 2933 and set up the timing or bit lower than 2933. You cant just use the xmp. If you can boot with latest bios and all default settings, the ram prob is fine. As the default speed for ram will be 2133 or 2400 or 2666 depends on your ram. You shouldnt use the previous settings for your new ram.

          • @PeterYYYY: Do I need to set the ram speed in bios? The issue with the G.Skill Aegis is my pc couldn't boot even with the latest bios.

            • @Harrison: First use your old ram and set all settings in your bios to default.
Second plug your new ram, see if it boot. If not swap the ram from slot1 to slot2, slot 2 to slot 1and try again.
If it boots, then you can set up the ram speed.
If not, there might be some compatible issue with that ram kit with your motherboard.

              • @PeterYYYY: I manually set the speed to 2133 and even my old ram couldn't boot now >.<

                • @Harrison: you shouldn't manually set ram speed if you are not quite sure what you are doing. Just clear the cmos, read your motherboard manual. you might need a screw driver to short the two pins. read your manual first. As i said, set everything to default, there should be a setting in your bios says load all default setting or similar.

                  • @PeterYYYY: I removed the battery and put it back, can boot with the old ram now. There is an option "Restore Defaults" in bios, it resets my memory clock mode to auto which was the same as my old settings. In the description, it says "If Auto, the DRAM speed will be based on SPDs". Does it mean that it's probably the compatible issue?

                    • @Harrison: so can you boot with the new ram now? if not, it means you got compatible issue. just dont change any settings and just put new ram in and try again.

                      • @PeterYYYY: no, the new ram didn't work. it's probably a compatible issue. Thank you very much for your help, peter. appreciate.

                        • +1

@Harrison: Not a problem, and I check the g skill qvl, a320 is not on that list. I checked the biostar website find for that motherboard the qvl for g skill have these
                          G.SKILL F4-2400C15Q-32GRB 8G DDR4 2400
                          G.SKILL F4-3200C16Q-16GRKD 4G DDR4 3200
                          G.SKILL F4-3400C16Q-16GRBD 4G DDR4 3400
                          G.SKILL F4-3600C17D-8GVK 4G DDR4 3600
                          G.SKILL F4-3200C14D-16GTZR 8G DDR4 3200
                          G.SKILL F4-3866C18D-8GTZ 4G DDR4 3866
                          G.SKILL F4-4000C19D-8GTZ 4G DDR4 4000
                          G.SKILL F4-2400C15S-8GRK 8G DDR4 2400
Anyway, if you got latest bios and it didnt work. Think you just have to return the memory and get something form here
