Order for Sydney went through fine ;)

    • Interesting from the T&Cs:

2.This Promotion is open to new customers of Circles.Life residing in the State of Victoria who sign up during the Promotion Period and successfully transfer their existing number to Circles.Life within 30 days after signup.

    • +1

Customers who are not eligible (for example, customers who do not reside in the State of Victoria) may receive the benefit but Circles.Life reserves the right to remove the benefits if the customer does not fulfill the requirements stipulated in these Terms and Conditions.

      • Fair call.. I'm deperate for data this weekend so I would of paid $30 for it anyway - So worth my risk :)

        Careful others..
        Victorians.. GO FOR IT!

Order for Sydney went through fine ;)

      Good luck!!
But this is not a business to take on if you want to bend the t&c! Read the criticism in other Deals where people have been billed when they thought they did the right thing!!

Ordering the SIM is the easy part with Circles!! It arrives very quickly. (Ordered Sunday night, courier delivered Monday, in a recent 100GB Offer.)

Then read the t&c of this offer…
      Chat with Circles if unsure.
      It's unlike a prepaid agreement.

After activating the SIM, the billing starts…

Billing works by charging the full monthly amount ($28 for 20GB + $10 for bonus 80GB). That's the service you've signed up to. First bill covers 2 months.

Then they deduct $37 / month rebate from this offer. So cost should be $1 / month

There will be a credit check. It's basically a post paid service.

So if offer terms aren't met (not based in Vic), there will likely be no rebate! You are then liable for the full $38 per month, charged in advance. Depending on date of month activated, first bill (with no rebates) could be as high as $76!!

They will chase up outstanding payments. Others have been threatened with debt collectors!

Give adequate notice (many business days) that you are leaving their service. Suggest requesting to terminate rather than port. But if porting, also notify them you are leaving - just to avoid future bills.

That's a warning from someone who posted positive experiences with this provider - but warned not to take unnecessary & expensive risks (like you are)!

I received almost 5 months free (20GB $28/month) service with no problems.
Signed up cautiously for a different $1 100GB offer.

So far based on their own FAQ, the first bill consists of pro-rata charge of the first month you sign up + the first full month in advance.

For example, if you activate Sim on 31st August you should get a bill on 10th of September. The bill should show one day pro rata + $38 for September minus $38 (credit). Your total bill should be less than $1.30.

        • +2

Yes. As outlined in Deal Description.

          First Bill could be up to 2 x $38, less 2 x $37 (not $38 as you show) rebates = $2.
If less than a month connected in first month, that would be prorata reduced as you show.

But, in the situation where the person has not met the condition of offer (not residing in Vic or not porting or is not new customer), there may be no rebates. So bill could be up to $76.

That's the situation the OP is in, hence my warning!

          • @INFIDEL: Good Points made here :)
            Thanks for explaining.

      • They are also a dodgy provider when it comes to their T&Cs.
They are very sneaky in changing their T&Cs: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/8235234/redir

So, always keep a record of their T&Cs when you sign up.

        • Each promotion will likely have different t&c. That's pretty normal.

      • Suggest requesting to terminate rather than port. But if porting, also notify them you are leaving - just to avoid future bills.

Are you sure about this advice? If you terminate the plan, will they not deactivate the number (which you then won't be able to port out).
I simply ported out before the next billing period started, and could not actually inform them as they cancelled my account the next day.

        • Giving notice of termination is the most certain way not to receive on going billing!

As I've said a number of times, Notify you want to terminate (at end of month - the billing period). You receive confirmation the service will end 23:00 (Sydney time) on last day of month.

Again if porting, also notify them you are leaving - just to avoid future bills. Terminating normally happens at end of month - so there should be plenty of time.

Then port during porting hours allowing enough time before end of month for the transfer of the number.

Either way, there should be no issues of continuing billing as others complain of.

Many are used to porting from prepaid services (likely as close to end of billing period as possible) which automatically terminates the prepaid service.

They expected that with this effectively postpaid service & got billed as the service did not end at end of month. This is a month to month plan operated from overseas, which is different to local prepaid services.
You need to give notice of termination.

Compared to those complaining, luckily yours was terminated.

    • Your SIM was delivered to an address that is outside of VIC, right? And, they have the address on their database.
When they eventually get around to running all the analytics, you will be charged the full fee per month.

isnt it meant to end in 3 weeks?

The 'Rona? Like we know when the pLandemic will be done with ;) hah!

  • +4

How many deals of Circles.Life are we going to see? Multiple Promo Codes offering the same benefit. The feedback is still largely negative – unless you're tracking each day and manage to cancel well in time.

These guys are truly desperate for new customers. Doesn't look like they're getting enough.

    • +2

These guys are GREAT.. I'm on my third card with them 100GB each (I have a busy usage situation).

No problems at all!! For months..

      They're all the same quality.

True.. So many deals - How do they break even? Govt Subsidies ;)

    • +2

Circles.life are definately desperate for customers.

Many leave them, so they need to replenish with new ones.

That's why they have fake Awards as well, from Finder.com.au and others.

      • +1

        replenish with new ones

Are we customers or fruits to be 'replenished'!

        • +2

          Fruits.

          Numbers.

          Cogs.

Beware of anyone who says "We treat you like a person, not a number". They have nasty motives, and are NOT on your side. And most certainly WILL treat you like a number. My experience, anyway.

    This AGAIN??

  • Did someone forget the 'associated' tag?

    • +1

Haha.. Nah, I'm just a loyal fan!

      • +3

You seem to be the first :)

        • +2

I knoooow right.. People love to be ungrateful and find things to complain about (like I'm doing right now - ironic)

  • +2

or until 20 Oct 2020, whichever comes first).

    so two months max?

  • anyone has porting in / activating issues today? activated this morning and still not gone through (new number, not porting in)

did live chat twice, and told Optus has issues today.

    • +1

      new number, not porting in
This offer is only available to those porting number in. It's in Deal Title.

You may be charged the full price of $38/mth! You won't know until you are billed!!

2.This Promotion is open to new customers of Circles.Life residing in the State of Victoria who sign up during the Promotion Period and successfully transfer their existing number

Others have repeatedly complained of being charged by Circles when they didn't expect it. I keep warning to check conditions of offer so that doesn't happen.

      • +1

Sorry, I should have said the question was asked in general, not specific to this deal. I'm activating the older $1 deal from a few weeks back.

        • +2

Best to ask in the correct Deal - there have been a few.

I received SIM for $1 Deal, but likely won't be activating until last day of month.

First bill is for 2 months, with first month pro rata charge. As only 1 month is at $1 & other at $38, billing is a bit uncertain! So best to check with Circles!!

Will notify early to terminate service at end of full month.

As for slow activation with Optus - have had a 2 day delay in the past. That was directly with Optus.

          • +1

@INFIDEL: My bad, thanks for that.

Just to share with anyone thinking of signing up - I've had a CL number since June and just arranged cancellation of it (due to terminate 31st Aug). Trying to activate another one to take advantage of the other $1 deal.

Was a bit apprehensive seeing the negative comments at first but found the experience to be OK. I like how the billing cycle is really easy to understand since its on a calendar monthly basis. If my number ends up terminating like I requested and I don't get billed continuously for months after (like how other members have reported), I'd be one of the few to say the experience was positive for once.

            • +3

@cantthinkofone: I've had a good experience with Circles.

It's just necessary to consider their t&c.

It's basically a post paid service, so month to month plan, billed more than 1 month in first month with 1st month charged pro rata, credit check, need to notify you are leaving.

Like other post paid services, it's set up for long term use, not SIM hopping like I do. But by being cautious, I've had no issues or bills.

Most seem to think it is another prepaid service that is very easy to leave. They get slugged with extra month(s) bills because the service was not terminated before end of month.

              • @INFIDEL: Infidel is correct in all he says.

I would suggest this as a second SIM and not as your main number. I used it as the Data-only SIM in my dual-sim phone, and another one inside my IPAD.

My Main number is on a Plan with Telstra which is still on-plan! Ain't going nowhere! :)

Got an email from Hey You (food ordering app). And guess what! They've tied up with Circles.Life to give $20 Hey You Credit plus $10 off each month for next 6 months on the $38 plan (100GB).

    Promo Code: HEYYOUEXCL
I mean, this is the height of desperation! Too many offers being thrown out by them.

I can post this as a deal, but I'll get heavily negged anyway. Lol.
