Sorry if this is a repost but with the release of the new Flight Simulator I thought I'd post it for those that don't know.
Note: This only works if you don’t currently have any active subscriptions ~~and haven’t already used the $1 upgrade/trial on your account yet.~~
Edit: Thanks to ShortyX, It seems like you may be able to do the $1 conversion more than once provided that it has already expired.
Edit 2: It seems like if you've already done the $1 conversion/trial, it will cost you $15.95 to do the conversion the second time.

Steps are as follows:

Create Xbox AU account here: https://www.xbox.com/en-AU (or use existing).
Get 12 month Xbox Live subscriptions here for $34: https://www.g2a.com/en-au/xbox-live-gold-subscription-card-1…
I purchased from the "Floatingclouds" seller. BACK IN STOCK
Get a Brazillian VPN. If the one you have doesn't work in Step 5 (my paid SurfShark one gave me errors when redeeming), try this free Chrome Extension (G2A seller recommended this one and it worked): https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/free-vpn/jcbiifklm…
Connect to Brazil VPN and go to https://redeem.microsoft.com/. Login to your Microsoft/Xbox account if not already. (I opted to login to my Microsoft account with a one-time code sent to my email rather than using my password as a precaution while using a sketchy VPN/extension.)
Repeat redemption for all of the codes. I had to try a couple times for each one as the VPN is free and slow, I think it times out. Note: Make sure you don’t opt-in to automatic renewal for the 1 bonus month. This will prevent you from redeeming the 3rd 12 month pass.
Once you have redeemed as many as you want (max of 3 for 36 months), you can then opt to “upgrade” to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate for $1. I did this in the Microsoft account/subscriptions page, but I think you can also do it here: https://www.xbox.com/en-AU/live/gold/upgrade. Note: Don't use the VPN for this part.

Hopefully that's clear enough. Not sure how much longer this offer is going to be around for so I'd probably jump on it if interested. If I've missed any steps or there are better VPN's/key prices let me know and I'll update the post. Cheers!

Tried to purchase 3 x 12 month xbox live codes through cdkeys twice. 1st time 'worked' received a receipt from cdkeys saying order is complete. Go to collect keys and it tells me that the order is under review. I wait a couple of hours and i decide to contact support. While i'm waiting i receive an email that my purchase has gotten refunded. Finally chat with support and they tell me it was a transaction error.

So i decide to wait for the refund and try again. A couple of days later i do and same thing happens again… This time support tells me that the 'review team' has decided that since i don't live in Brazil i can't have the keys and get refunded again. pretty annoying tbh. Probably will never use cdkeys again.

As for the other options g2a seems to be getting more expensive day by day and i cant be bothered going through the possible "ID Verification" of electronic first and gamivo.

So i guess i'll wait until g2a prices drop again.

      So i put it in on my xbox app on my phone and it accepted it. It wasn't working on my xbox and from memory wasn't working on the computer either but through the xbox app it worked and accepted it immediately.

Popping in to say this still works, even though prices for the keys have gone up a little but it's still a damn good deal.

Bought from G2A, no ID requested but they did call me from Poland to confirm my email address and then it went through fine. Used the Chrome Extension VPN linked by OP and while it was slow and required reloading and trying the redemptions several times, it worked (don't be afraid of various "unreachable" or "aborted" errors when trying to redeem the codes).

Now set until 2023 for 133.20 + 15.95, incredible. THANKYOU OP

    Register for a G2A account and then on the page where they give you your key there's an option to send the seller a message and note the key is invalid. They have 7 days to respond and if they don't sort it out for you you can request a refund through the site. Hopefully the seller comes good and sends updated keys in next 24 hrs.

Just purchased two keys and one was invalid - "had already been claimed". Messaged the seller (playdistribution) and waiting to hear back. Will update if they send another key or refund me. Also purchased one from Rpsgames and that worked fine.

Just a heads up I have also been having trouble trying to purchase a key from cdkeys.com. They keep reviewing my purchase and rejecting it after I buy. Just a heads up that the process of buying one of these cd keys is tenuous. I have managed to secure 2, however three other attempts are in limbo across a couple of the sites listed. Hoping I get refunded for them but who can say for sure - it's also a massive hassle dealing with the follow up when they don't work. I know some people in here have gotten lucky buying the keys but others have not - be warned.

The prices are a bit higher now, possibly due to higher demand due to this news, but I was able to get it going, thanks so much OP!

G2A have suspended my account now too due to "suspicious activity", maybe because the VPN turning on and off, but at least I got the codes before that happened!

  Yep it’s worth it. I did it with 7 months to run on mine. I got 3 years for $110. Bit more now but still. I basically paid $110 for an extra 29 months as I’m effectively forfeiting 7 months on my old account. Given the only other cheap way to get ultimate is jb hifi half price sales when they’re on which equals about $100 for 12 months. So I’ve still come out way in front.

Turned on recurring billing for 1 extra month, turned it off and back on for another extra month.

Then only had to pay $1 for Gamepass Ultimate conversion, very happy with 27 months at $3.75ish per month!

Hi all. Need some help here. Followed OPs instructions to a T but cant activate the upgrade to ultimate. Got the 3 years gold via VPN brazil and activated. Switched off VPN and tried to upgrade to Ultimate but it says

      Buying the one-month Gamepass Ultimate ($16.99) and activating that on top of the 3x12 month codes worked a treat. Literally did it last night and been working great today with confirmed expiry Sept 2023.

I bought from mtcgames (2 x 12 month Brazil)… in two separate transactions as didn't want to go "all in" in case it didn't work.

mtcgames did feel a little dodgy, esp in the checkout process… but both separate transactions ended up working. Takes 15 mins or so for the code to be sent through on purchase.
Keys didn't have any issues activating.

One con with mtcgames was that I didn't like having to provide my mobile number but alas.
Was curious that I got a group facetime call few hours later from 3 x unrecognisable phone numbers, since blocked all the numbers…. but can't say for certain related. Could have been a coincidence perhaps. Nothing else odd since then. Anyone else have this occur?

I had to then buy a month of games pass ($15) as wasn't eligible for the $1 conversion.

      Unfortunately, as with many of these money saving techniques we use, it's the risk each of us must individually evaluate. The $1 Upgrade could be around for a day or a year. I assume MS is trying to streamline their service into 1 universal pass to become competition to services like Stadia, Geforce Now, or even Steam.
      
      Optionally, if selling the code isn't appealing, you could upgrade your account to Ultimate now and then use the 12 month Live code to get another 4 months Ultimate. Once Ultimate is active any Live codes attached to the account afterwards are converted based on their value, MS has a list detailing these.

For those that stuffed up and added the “free” months for subscribing meaning you couldn’t add the 3rd year.

You can convert it to Game Pass at a ratio of 4 months for 12 once you’ve completed the above. I had two extra free months so ended up with a total of 2.5 years.

Better not to stuff it up!

    Bought 3 years on MTC, took about 5 hours to receive the codes but all 3 worked. What error are you getting? If the $1 upgrade doesn’t work, you will have to pay the $15 bucks to upgrade instead.

No problems previously, now getting "Contact whomever you got this code from. It can't be redeemed." when attempting to redeem a spare Brazil code on another account while using a Brazil VPN.
