Sorry if this is a repost but with the release of the new Flight Simulator I thought I'd post it for those that don't know.
Note: This only works if you don’t currently have any active subscriptions ~~and haven’t already used the $1 upgrade/trial on your account yet.~~
Edit: Thanks to ShortyX, It seems like you may be able to do the $1 conversion more than once provided that it has already expired.
Edit 2: It seems like if you've already done the $1 conversion/trial, it will cost you $15.95 to do the conversion the second time.

Steps are as follows:

Create Xbox AU account here: https://www.xbox.com/en-AU (or use existing).
Get 12 month Xbox Live subscriptions here for $34: https://www.g2a.com/en-au/xbox-live-gold-subscription-card-1…
I purchased from the "Floatingclouds" seller. BACK IN STOCK
Get a Brazillian VPN. If the one you have doesn't work in Step 5 (my paid SurfShark one gave me errors when redeeming), try this free Chrome Extension (G2A seller recommended this one and it worked): https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/free-vpn/jcbiifklm…
Connect to Brazil VPN and go to https://redeem.microsoft.com/. Login to your Microsoft/Xbox account if not already. (I opted to login to my Microsoft account with a one-time code sent to my email rather than using my password as a precaution while using a sketchy VPN/extension.)
Repeat redemption for all of the codes. I had to try a couple times for each one as the VPN is free and slow, I think it times out. Note: Make sure you don’t opt-in to automatic renewal for the 1 bonus month. This will prevent you from redeeming the 3rd 12 month pass.
Once you have redeemed as many as you want (max of 3 for 36 months), you can then opt to “upgrade” to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate for $1. I did this in the Microsoft account/subscriptions page, but I think you can also do it here: https://www.xbox.com/en-AU/live/gold/upgrade. Note: Don't use the VPN for this part.

Hopefully that's clear enough. Not sure how much longer this offer is going to be around for so I'd probably jump on it if interested. If I've missed any steps or there are better VPN's/key prices let me know and I'll update the post. Cheers!

Hi, my game pass ultimate is expiring 20th October. If I am to use another account on my xbox, am I able to redeem Live for that account and convert that over to GamePass Ultimate before the 20th? Then use my existing account to keep playing GamePass games once mine lapses?

  If you use gamepass games on PC I'm not sure if you can download them from windows store with one account and then sign into Xbox app with your main account and play them or not though, probably console only.

  Because the subscription is from a different region it won't let you stack it. If you previously bought your XBOX Live sub card from Brazil you can reload it on without waiting.

      The actual reason is because if you have a current subscription the conversion rate is lower at 12 months gold = 4 months Ultimate. Whereas without one it's 1:1

Just a heads up everyone, I had to change my account settings to Brazil to get this to work for me. The link is https://account.microsoft.com/profile/.

You may also need to give it a minute, did take a few for me for it come across (could also be the VPN being slow).

Also I bought three keys from CD keys and the third ended up being refunded back, not sure if that was a safety feature for them to stop bots.

I purchased 3x12 months from CJs and it's gone through all fine but can't collect the keys for some reason. They said they need to manually issue them or something so would probably avoid them if you want instant codes.

  Don't worry, I had the same but they actually have quite good customer service and response times. Email them if they don't answer back quickly.
  I order originally from G2A - They were terrible and they gave used keys and attempted to keep the money (I used PayPal and got refund)
  Then used CD Keys - They refunded payment without reasoning
  Then used CJS - Working very well, gave manual verification and got the keys within a couple days.

  It still converts if you have an active subscription but at a much lower rate. 12 months gold = 4 months ultimate. Not worth it.

Managed to do it buying 3 keys from www.https://www.cjs-cdkeys.com/ Went through with paypal surprisingly, given few people reported auto cancellations with paypal.
However it took 24hrs for them to approve the purchase and I had to send a support ticket for them to eventually finalise the payment.
The codes also wouldn't redeem with Private Internet Access and I had to sign up to a 30day trial account with NordVPN (gotta make sure I cancel with 30days….)
Can confirm xbox game pass ultimate until 2/10/2023

  The original deal for $36 per 12 months is expired since apparently the retail price of all Brazilian codes were recently increased.
  But you can still buy and claim them with this method, it's pricier but still worth it.

    However, I was unable to obtain the second key from them as they wanted me to scan and send them my I.D in addition to my already verified mobile number. I didn't feel comfortable sending my I.D, however they did refund me for the second key eventually. The other two I got from CDKEYS and also worked with NordVPN.

Signed up for the $1 upgrade for a year which expired recently. Added another 12 months using the brazil vpn method no problem. Trying to upgrade to games pass ultimate for $15.95 is now not working. It says - "You currently have a subscription from a different region. If it still doesn't work, please contact customer support."

Anyone else had this issue or know of a fix? cheers

I bought a 12 month brazil code from first electronic and activated no problem via brazil vpn. Note that I didn't change my region for the first code to work.

I then bought a second 12 month brazil code from cdkeys however this code won't work with the same brazil vpn i used before on the iphone app or on desktop. I get the error "PUR-ConversionBlockedCurrencyCountryMismatch" . I did change my region to brazil on the xbox website before trying this code.

I note that my address / currency for recurring payments is and always has been set to Ireland and my recurring payment always comes up in euros. I think this is where the error is coming from but it does not give an option to the change the currency for recurring payments even when adding a new credit card.

I can't find any option to update the country / currency for recurring payments. Note I am aware recurring payments needs to be turned off. Did everyone who got it to work change their region to Brazil and if so how exactly did they change their region? Thanks

    Did my codes today and worked for the GOLD.
    Thing is it's only just kicked over to the 16th today in the US so that's where the issue could be.
    It prob looks like the subscription was still active (even though on the xbox it had expired)
    So my 2 years of Gold he's saying will be 1 year Ultimate!
    The dude from Xbox is looking into for me but doesn't sound to confident as he has to go to support for extra info!

Finally managed to get it to work after a very stressful afternoon where I thought I had spent $143 for 3 years of Xbox Live Gold.

My first mistake was changing the region to Brazil when I redeemed codes as I couldn't get the codes to redeem. I later found out it was due to the dodgy VPN I was using. Using Hola VPN as someone here suggested fixed the issue.

Once I had redeemed the codes, I ran into the problem of upgrading to Ultimate Game Pass as it threw up an error saying my subscription region is different. I ended up calling the MS support and the rep was very help and basically replaced the 3 year sub with wrong region with the equivalent in the right region.

He then told me I have to wait a month to upgrade due to the 36 months limit but I was able to upgrade immediately from the website.

All up, it cost me $144, which sounds like a bargain for 3 years of gaminig.

    It was for an existing account, but I had my xbox one only very briefly when it first launched and sold it.
    Obviously they never had game pass thing back then so it's an account that never had any game pass subscription.

    if all else fails, you may have to try waiting for a month and redeem a 1 month GPU from the same region as your xbox live gold sub and see if that automatically converts it to GPU?

        Microsoft support isn't able to confirm which region I need to be under for the GPU to go through.
        Have tried changing console and MS profile to Brazil, as well as USA, with no success.
        
        Has anyone tried migrating their XBL account to Brazil to see if it resolves the issue? Can only migrate once every three months, so I'm hesitant to try unless it's worked for anyone else?

Got this working for me.

My game pass expired a few months ago. I don't think this matter, as long as your game pass has expired, that's all it matters.

VPN not turned on.
Bought 12mths Brazil x2 from cdkeys.
Bought 12mths Brazil from CJ.

I used the chrome extension VPN provided here. Just be aware, it's very very slow and keep on throwing up connection failed.

VPN turned on and locked to Brazil IP.
Start putting in your 12mth code
*Disable Auto recurring!!!
You should now have 36 months of live gold in your account.

Turn off VPN and log out of your account
Log back in and now, an Australia IP should be linked to your account.

Upgrade your account to ultimate.
If this is the first time you've gotten a game pass, you should have the $1 offer; if not, you'll be charged $15.95.

A window will come up telling you about the conversation from your existing Brazil 36 mth to your current county of login (Australia).

Finalised the upgrade and you should now have 36mth of Xbox ultimate.

    I did read that sometime, it helped if you do changed the region in your profile but that wasn't required when I did it.

        Once that's done, they don't care if your existing gold is Brazil when you are upgrading with an ultimate (Australia).. else people who moved countries will have to buy all new account, which I don't Microsoft will force you to do.

MS support confirmed that I have to use a Brazil vpn and change my ms account to Brazil to activate ultimate. I think this is really a hit and miss for most.

        @shurikan117: I have tried using a brazilian vpn but it wont work on my laptop, like I can't join ultimate vpn with or without a brazilian vpn

        @cathalm8: I literally just figured out to fix this. My original account was setup in ireland. I had to revert all region both on xbox and online xbox website back to ireland. I was then able to access the games pass via the xbox store on the console. thank fook for that

        @shurikan117: The problem for me anyway, was that my currency in my Microsoft account was set to euros (account was originally setup to ireland and was never fully migrated) so when I tried to pay for gamespass either on the brazilian or australian xbox store (on console and on laptop or using a vpn and not using a vpn) there was a currency country mismatch error. This wont be the same for a lot of people here as they have probably an Australian Microsoft account.
        
        How I fixed it was I logged into xbox.com on my laptop, going to my 'Microsoft account', going to 'your info' which shows your profile, changing my region back to Ireland and then logging out. I then turned on my console and went to settings, system, 'location and language' and changed my location to Ireland and language to English (ireland). I then reset the console.
        
        Then when into the xbox store on the console and everything was in euros. I then paid for a month of gamespass in euros, it used a paypal account from Ireland / UK I think and it worked without the error.
        
        If you have a 'country currency mismatch' error its worth playing around with location and settings in both your console and xbox.com to see if one region or another may work.
