It'll likely be rebadged for Aldi soon and be $1200

    • +2

Yes, last Aldi 65" was exactly the same as EKO, except was more expensive than Big W price.

  • -1

90 day return policy with no questions asked. Might get you to the grand finals for free!

    • +1

Is that a policy specific to this item?

The store rep I talked to called it 90 day change of mind, and when I read up on that back home the conditions for that are clear: unused items only in original packaging.

  • And the winner is: my wallet. For now.

Thanks for the post. Made me aware that 75'' can be had for <$1k.

On doing some research I saw that Aldi had a 75'' last December for $999. Good reviews for picture and sound. Was "smart", but I don't think Android TV. Not sure why I missed it back then.

Of course Aldi will have a better deal this year. My bet: $899 with Android TV. I'll wait for that. The 60 day no question asked return policy wins out over having something now and taking the risk of being stuck with an item I don't like.

  • can you mount it on a wall? whats the weight? not sure if the wall can handle it

    • +1

Wall mount will be fine so long as the mount is rated for the weight. My 75" Sony is around 7 years has has been wall mounted since I purchased it. My wall mount is a dual arm full motion type (best way to describe it)

  • +1

Wish this is a TCL brand which has three warranty. Then I would have got one for sure

    • +1

Can get TCL 65" for $1008 with Good Guys Commercial.

      • +2

true..but missus always prefer bigger is better…

        • +6

I'm suddenly feeling insecure about my 55“

          • @ChadHominem: U made my day..lol

    • We will probably start to see some better deals soon as the Australian dollar has gone up.

    • +1

I have the Eko 65" and my parents bought the TCL P8S (I think) for around $900.

To be honest, I thought the Eko produced a better picture.

  • Doesn't appear to be available for delivery. Can't cross the border to Albury to collect. Can't drive outside the Border Bubble to Wangaratta to collect. Looks like I'm stuffed then.

    • +2

      eBay $35 delivery

      • Damn tempting…..

        • Promo price after that it will be$1600

      • That's great news, thanks! Now all we need is a 10% site wide. Ok, ok, a man can dream…

      • Thank you!

  • Thanks. Decided to grab one. Will be interesting to see how it compares with the Aldi/Bauhn 65". Unsure how I'm going to transport it home though.

    • They are most likely from the same OEM

    • Please let us know how they compare. Good luck getting it home! :-)

  • Woolworths rewards members get this for $899, I added to cart and price was reduced… crazy for those who have the card

    • not for me

    • +1

Not for me either. Targeted? Or do you have employee discount?

      • +2

Surely the employee discount, which I'm assuming is 10% like it is in Woolworths and BWS

        • Sorry for slow reply. Rewards card for staff. Wife works at Woolworths

    • I thought that staff can't get discounted electronics?

      • everything is 10% for staff. Just picked this up for $900 also.

        • Huh, couldn't get it for Nintendo Switch

          • @noren7: thats odd? Its link to my rewards card so they would have to deny my points too. I got my switch from bigw and saved 10%.

            • @J6: No discount on consoles and apple.

Yeah we know size doesn't matter.. (Right).. lol!
But I think any "reputable" brand 55/65 would be far better than this. Sure it's 75".. But I'm betting the picture quality/backlighting is very very average…

    • If you have a big room with a decent amount of light and plan on sitting at a far distance it’s probably ok but dark room movie watching is probably a bit average.

    • +1

That's a completely different model. You're already the third one to link that review page… https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/9204595/redir

    • I have the 65in version and the picture quality is excellent. In the store it was side by side with a sony and they looked essentially the same.

  • Does anyone know if there's any chance this has HDMI CEC? I really want my next TV to have it :(

    • +3

From page 28 of the manual it would think it does as it mentions HDMI control

Waiting for some brave ozbargainer to take one for the team and report back :)

      • ooo that looks so promising! Thank you

        • +1

Just an update, I messaged their support and they confirmed it has CEC!

    • My 65 version of this controls my amp just fine.

  • +2

Hi Andrea, thank you for providing the Case ID. We have investigated your situation with the management team and discovered the delay in replying was a case of human error on behalf of Janelle who was managing your case. An RA should have been issued to enable a refund to be processed. Productreview.com.au

    Damn Janelle!

    • +5

At least they're not blaming Karen…

  • I was thinking the same.

  • Ordered using discounted gift cards. Got cancelled. Can't really order from another store, as money is now in limbo waiting for refund in Big W gift cards. What to do? Sell gift cards for loss?

    :(

    • Why was it cancelled? Use gift cards at Woolies/Caltex Woolworths/Dan Murphy?

      • +1

Not sure why cancelled. No stock?

I guess I could use GC at Woolworths if they refund me with a wis GC, but I purchased using Big W GC.

        • big w gc is the same as a wish gc, so you can use it at woolies, dan murphys, bws, caltex woolies, etc

          • @CVonC: I doubt it. Wish GC and Big W GC are different.

            • @inherentchoice: Even if it's a Big W branded gift card it's still a Wish gc. But… If you are going to be refunded, they usually refund into a "Returns Card" and not back into your Big W gc which limits the use to just Big W and Woolies.

    • 110cm x 183cm

      • How are picture and sound quality? Still hoping to hear back from someone who actually bought it…

        • +2

I measured the box at the store. Hesitant to buy as there was no display unit, They said they only had 3 in stock so weren't going to set one up.

Would be great if someone could YouTube the start-up time, menu/android/YouTube responsiveness, EPG, etc.

          • +1

@pro: Same here and at another nearby store I called. Guess by the time it comes back as Boxing day special there will be some reviews…

  • If anyone buys one, can you please measure the box for me.

Can't find the size on bigW or EKO sites.

Want to see if it will fit my SUV…

    • +1

Take it out of box and strap it in a seat belt with plenty of blankets/rugs/pillows if need

    • +2

As above, the width is 183cm and the height is 110cm. It was a very tight fit in a Honda CRV. It had to be laid flat (despite all of the warnings on the box) with the driver's seat as close to the steering wheel as possible (thankfully, my girlfriend is only 5'1" and managed OK).

      • How are picture and sound quality? Still hoping to hear back from someone who actually bought it…

        • +6

I haven't had a chance to properly test it at this stage. I've literally just unboxed it, attached the stands, and completed the initial setup. A couple of things that have stood out thus far is that the wireless doesn't support 5GHz networks (there is ethernet, but unsure if it's 100Mbit or 1Gbit) and there is a noticeable vertical line in the middle of the screen at wider viewing angles (likely due to two panels being stitched together).

          • +2

@Ben1985: That's interesting with the WiFi. The users manual lists 802.11 ac, which is 5GHz.

In case you're unhappy and want to take it back, that alone should be enough to apply ACL and get a full refund.

            • @team teri:

That's interesting with the WiFi. The users manual lists 802.11 ac, which is 5GHz.

Yeah I have the 65" version of this (but not "frameless") and it supports 5GHz. No vertical line down the middle either.

          • +1

@Ben1985: LOL stitched together like Frankenstein !!!

          • @Ben1985: Any updates on your review mate, did you get the 5 ghz band working? Are you satisfied overall. Im looking at this and the Eko 65" which is 300 cheaper. Not Frameless, but looks similar spec.
Seems good value for money as well.

          • +5

@Ben1985: Just to clarify, as per the instruction manual, 5GHz wireless-AC is supported. However, it was unable to find the network when it was broadcasting on channel 149, but switching to channel 36 within the router settings resolved this. Additionally, the vertical line in the middle of the screen is only visible on dark backgrounds at a wide viewing angle within close proximity (less than 2ft). In my opinion, the picture quality is really good. As expected, the integrated speakers lack bass, but at ~70% volume there was no distortion (I didn't test any louder due to being in a confined space). The soundbar (Bauhn ASBWS-0719) is a significant improvement though. I don't know the SoC specifications, but it has 4.4/4.6GB storage space available, and the user interface and 4K streaming are responsive. Ultimately, everyone has different expectations, but I'm very happy with the purchase thus far and it's hard to imagine there is a better 75" TV at a similar price point. If anyone has any questions, let me know.

            • @Ben1985: Brilliant. Thanks for the review. How is the Google Assistant? I've heard reports it takes a second or two to activate?

            • @Ben1985: Also, what is the footprint of the feet? I'm wondering if it will fit on my slim cabinet.

              • @pro: 163cm width x 31.5cm length for the feet. Unsure on Google Assistant, I'll give it a try.

            • @Ben1985: Good d review thanks.. Mmmm food for thought. 65 or 75…

            • +1

              @Ben1985:

I don't know the SoC specifications, but it has 4.4/4.6GB storage space available,

              For my 65" it's:

              • Core Architecture: 4x ARM Cortex-A55 @ 1400 MHz

              Also,

              • Installed RAM: 1.5GB
              • Internal Storage Total Space: 4394MB

Watching this with great interest looking forward to nore details of your review.

  • Half of SA is sold out.. left it too late

    • +1

Too late? What about the other half?

      • Colonnades is showing stock but can't be bothered making the trek down there

  • +2

Bought it. Not disappointed at all! Played 4K video on the TV and its sparkling! Connected it to Nintendo Switch and all came up well!

    • Hows the response times on the menu, loading, changing channels etc?

Thinking its time to upgrade the 55" hisense

Bit concerning about the guys review on it not working with in 4k with his xbox.

      • Crappy HDMI cable? Maybe didn't enable 4k in the xbox settings?

my 65 works fine with the xbox in 4k.

  • +2

Got a van from Car Next Door with $15 signup bonus, and picked this up today. Absolutely stoked with it. Remote works great, picture incredible, sounds good but seamlessly hooked up to existing soundbar. 100hz would have been nice, but for $1k I’m happy. Google assistant seems to struggle when playing 4K Netflix but I can’t blame it too much.

My 4yr old Panasonic failed (got a $500 cheque) and the Teckworks guy said that all the TVs are pretty much the same now - 2 days before this deal came up.

Only problem was that it doesn’t fit on the existing tv cabinet, so the soundbar has some books on it as an extension!

Looking forward to Doom when the mrs goes to bed.

    • I purchased one too and am impressed with it, I did notice some LED bleed from the edge though.

Android runs smooth and fast on this though compared to the 65" TCL qled we have.

  • +3

    Managed to pick this up for a pretty sweet deal;

    $899 (with 10% employee discount from a friend) - 5% off with Wish e-gift cards $44.95 - $50 off giftcard from work = $804.05 in total.

Now to reconsider if a 75' inch tv for a bedroom is necessary..

    • Did your friend need to be there with you at time of purchase? Or did you get their card? Which city you in?

      • +3

I used their card online, you can do this by creating a big W account online and linking the card.

        Located in Melbourne

  • +1

    I picked mine up yesterday.

I have a bad feeling the internal android 9 (pie) is limited to 1920x1080 output.
the HDMI's seem to display genuine 4K inputs. (signals tested only so far) - will be doing a full check later.

    • Howd you go?

    • +1

The rep replied either in a previous post here or on whirlpool that the system runs in 4k.

4k youtube and prime certainly look to be running at 4k on my one.

  • Question about ACCC.

I purchased a Hisense Fridge from Harvey Norman with 3 years warranty and it failed one week before 2 years from the dater of purchase. It was definitely covered under warranty.
HN asked me to call Hisense Support and I was on hold for more than 3 hours a few times. I complained again to HN and they contacted Hisense directly via their sales channel and Hisense called the next day and did some trouble shooting on the phone and told me that they will arrange a technician. It's more than 48 hours but technician has not called or come.

It has been 6 days since my fridge failed and I am without a fridge since then and I also had to throw away a lot of food.

I think HN should replace my fridge.

Any suggestions? What do you thing is a reasonable resolution to my issue.

    • Why are you asking this in a post about EKO TV's from BigW?

You should post this in the forums.

    • +1

You should sue, then sue them again for making you sue

  • +1

Anyone seen the new frameless QLED range?
65" is currently $749. Worth the extra over LED??

    • Wondering too.. Sounds like a great price.

    • +1

I reckon easily worth the extra. The frameless design is prettier too.

What I have to decide: wait for the 75'' from this deal to come back in stock or snap up this 65'' QLED instead. No 75'' QLED on the eko website, so not an option to wait for that.

      • Qled looks great! Very sleek. Tempted

        • Ordered one this morning went to pick it up and the dock
guy said they sold 5 of them this morning and he's never seen anything like it somebody must have noticed this post!

          • @mauricem: All sold out around me.

          • @mauricem: It's totally unprecedented!

I am confused, what did you get the 65" or the 75" or both?

How is the picture quality, android performance, what does SD TV look like on it?

            Thanks.
