Why even have a separate booking fee on a "promotion" like this? Poor form.
It's not like it costs you $1.10 to take a booking…

    • they always have booking fees when your doing any deal with cinemas online.

Which is why the only time I deal with movies online is when I'm downloading them…

  • not any good movies around recently, any idea when this expires?

i would like to smack whoevever came up with the event cinemas booking fee. in the face. with a hammer. most of the time it feels like it's there JUST to steal that extra 1.10$ from you. More annoying is the fact that it's usually PER TICKET as well, it's not like it costs them extra to process multiple tickets in the same online order. Poor form.

There's no point ranting here. Take it to the people in charge.

      • straight from the horse's mouth…..

        Thanks for your enquiry.
Booking fees cover the high costs involved with operating and maintaining the on line ticketing service and to help cover the bank merchant fees that are incurred when making online transactions.
You do not have to visit the box office to collect your tickets here either if you have booked on line. You can go straight to the usher that tears your tickets to collect your booking.

I hoped this has helped answer your questions regarding on line booking and booking fees.

I hear you. We should take this to fair trading/ ombudsman and demand to see how in fact it is being used to cover booking costs…

    • I think its because if you buy tickets online your less likely to buy their overpriced low quality candy bar offerings but back in the day i used to get the 2 large popcorns and 2 large drinks deal for $15, then they upped the price to 17 and i stopped buying them.

I bought online all the time until they started charging the booking fee, now i only do it if the seats are filling up.

I think its even more dodgy that gold class booking fee is $5 a ticket, it cant possibly cost more for a booking there than regular (not that regular should cost anything anyway). But then i almost never go to gold class (been 3 times) so it doesn't bug me too much.

Booking fees are ridiculous. The cinemas are saving labour costs by not having to pay staff to sell you ticket(s) at the counter. In effect, it's cheaper for them to sell the tix online, so why do they charge extra?

    • Because people are willing to pay it. It may be cheaper for them to sell the tickets online, but because it's also more convenient for the consumer, they can get away with charging extra and still have people pay for it.

Doesn't make it any less dodgy though.

I think it's the previledge of being able to reserve seats in advance. They should just include the extra cost in the ticket.

  • might just use this. Have 50 cinebuzz points (current promo) and no other vouchers so might be my best way to get a 2nd ticket

Optus' movie tickets website thingy sells them for $10 including booking fee. Optus subscribers only though

    • Yeah the Optus deal is much better if you can get it! I dont think they check your ticket anyway so get a friend to buy them for you :D

  • Same price as the Rydges deal, which is available any time.

I use Optus deal personally ;)

  • we dont pay for watch movie these days! so many offers for free out there

  • Not working for me - "Error: PAYPAL is an unrecognised promotional code".

    Expired?

    • Worked fine for me today (2011/11/03) at 5:05pm ACDT. Cinema is Event at Arndale Shopping Centre, Adelaide.
