[PC] Command & Conquer: Remastered Collection $9.10 (Activates on Origin) @ Humble Bundle

1300

Hours of gameplay in a very very well received Remaster. I haven't played the remaster myself but have been waiting for a chance to buy it cheap and it appears that this has crossed my threshold for this title.
Humble claims this is 67% off their regular price.

Enjoy.

I feel like this game is better left to memories.

It's actually really good - they did a really good job at remastering it.
The music is also nostalgia to the max!

      • +3

100% agree, they did a really great job of it, plus all the behind the scenes extras was great, also worth watching the noclip documentary

        • +3

Agreed, I paid full price and enjoyed it a lot. Really good remaster.

It's a work in progress, give it a bloody chance. How many games are remastered from the 1990s these days in flawless condition? The evolution of AoE II HD/Definitive Edition was no different.

There have already been 2 huge patches since release that fixed a good majority of the complaints everyone had at launch (i.e. broken campaign difficulty on Hard, silly harvester logic, terrible unit path-finding, command delays, enemy A.I. cheating, etc) but of course most of the whiny critics never bothered to dive back into the games after the updates.

Plus the insane amount of mods already churned out by the community on Steam Workshop that fix virtually everything broken/janky in the original games (which Petroglyph deliberately left untouched) and add enormous amounts of QoL improvements is a testament to how much work is being poured into this game.

If you still don't like the game after all of that then chances are:

      • You plain suck at it (because it is still much harder relative to modern RTS games).
      • Or just don't like the dated mechanics (which is a feature, not a bug; these games are from 1995/1996 after all).

Frank Klepacki & The Tiberian Sons' remastered tracks are reason enough to buy the game.

I thought that at first, but want a new C&C game so badly, so bought this. It's actually pretty good, especially RA. It now has build queues amongst other improvements. Plus it has multiplayer available as well. At under ten dollars, cant complain!

I hope that one day Origin is left to memories.

(this remake is very good, however)

    • I bought this a while back…. the games are fun, but I deleted it in angry frustration with the horrors of going through origin to play it. Good to read below it's available on steam.. I'll be happy to pay a lot more to be able to play it without the origin nightmare.

Warning: the Origin games on Steam run Origin in the background. It's not a big deal for most but should be noted.

        • +1

Command and Conquer REmastered does not do this.

    • One of the best remasters and highly praised by the C&C community

    • I tried getting into Age of Empires 2 again and although I remembered each mission, I didn't remember them being so fussy and fiddly and boring.

I just played it now, the remaster at least graphically is pretty good

  • +1

Wow luckily I didnt buy it the last round it was cheap on steam lol

  • +9

Good price (and then I see "Origin" =0 )

Ancient game! Despite being a remaster. Why are you not on gog? =(

    • +1

      Because release date June 2020!

      • +2

GOG have had new release games for a long time now.

        • Not new EA games though :(

  • +4

    disappointed there's no Mac port

    • I got bootcamp just for this

      • Get back in line soldier!!!!

  • Already bought it on steam, but been having a ton of fun replaying it lately, especially with the remastered soundtrack. Plus workshop support if you can't hack it without modern QOL mods like me.

  • +1

Happy to hear that it's finally being discounted. Not sure if I want it on Origin though… hmm..

  • Thanks OP, getting bored of Generals in Skirmish

    • Then download gentool and vs me

  • +4

Steam version is better as it has Steam Workshop support which you won't get access to if you buy it via Origin

  • Thanks for the post….many hours killed back in the day with C&C. Looks like many more to come now :)

  • I loved generals Zero hour till they killed the online. Does this bring back online if I buy it?

No but if you install this you can play online again. Haven't looked at zero hour but there seem to be lots of people playing CNC 3 and red alert 3.

I see a few old games been remastered but the graphic still pretty sucks, why not just remake the game for current setup. That would be cool.

  • Really enjoyed replaying Tiberium Wars, still need to get to Red Alert.

  • I want to play C&C Red alert and generals.

Computer noob - what's the easiest way to buy, download and play

    • +1

Give Open RA a go https://www.openra.net/

    • Well the remastered collection is by far the best way to play RA. Just buy a copy on Steam or Origin and install…

I think the only way to get Generals at the moment is the ultimate collection on Origin, no idea how well it runs on a modern Win 10 system.

    Cheaper at CDKeys.com @ $7.39 for Origin

    • +9

      That’s not the same product

      • +1

        Yep, misread it completely lol

  • +6

Oh my goodness. Just got around to installing it myself. :) :) :)

Just watching the EVA installation was enough to put a stupid grin to my face.

    "Welcome back, Commander" - indeed

  • For those interested in a community working on mods for the game where you can also play online; https://www.openra.net/

    It's been $5 in past?

    • +1

      No. No it hasn’t.

      • What c&c package did I purchase for $5 4years ago? Had 17 games in it

  • Good price for the soundtrack alone!
It’s super high resolution as well and many variants.
I’ve never seen a remaster treated as well as the C&C and RA has (Bought on launch day).

    • I still have the CD from my original game. Also on Spotify!

  • +7

Good price … but might wait for a sale on the steam version.

  • Dammit, it went too quickly xD

  • +1

Love the new intro "EVA" video with all the Sound Blaster initialisation commands etc. Memories!
