Do these Aliexpress mofos actually pay gst to Australia or just pocket it?

    • +1

Im sure its a "we are holding it for when the goverment ask's for the GST"

    • +1

Interesting thought that one. The payments get processed from Aliexpress located in Melbourne (as shown on statement anyway)

      • How does anyone track the sales though?

  • Do you get to select the size of the free T-shirt? Chinese sizes run extremely small, could be a deal breaker for me.

  • Scrap thst comment ax

  • +4

cant resist… im getting this. just dont feel right spending $1000 brand new or $800 second hand for a phone (Samsung note or ultra series)
i want wireless charging and nfc but one of them will do, nfc more important

  • +1

I'd still say my RM Note 9 Pro is better - there's an option to expand via microSD card. A slight bump up of the chip in the POCO doesn't matter much for my daily internet/facebook/youtube sessions

  • +4

Great price if you don't mind use a house brick.

  • Any good camera reviews on this phone?

  • Is this an upgrade on an iPhone X? (not looking for an iPhone/Android debate), just want to know if this is better than my 3 or 4 year old phone?

    • +2

      Depends on what you want.

If you're already heavily invested in iOS and the app store, stick with iPhones. As much as I love the variety of Androids, you really can't beat the hardware and apps an iPhone offers.

I've only ever had one iPhone, but on my budget, I couldn't justify the price. My last 3 phones have been Xiaomi's. They're great phones. Just keep in mind you're not getting an iPhone, but you're getting a very good phone (hardware and software) for the money you're paying.

Thanks for sharing, updated price and description.

So is this a global rom and will google pay etc work?

    • +1

      Yep.

  • Any insurance on postage or just the free postage?

  • how long do stuff take from Ali?

    • +1

      November 5 it says….

      Xiaomi is doing preorders

      • +2

        Mine says 5/10 ?

    • Up to 2 months IME. Excluding pre-order sales of course… you're gonna have to wait quite a while.

    • +2

WTF 2 months! man just wait for Black Friday sales

    • Good deal, but gonna wait till late November (Black Friday). People ordering now will receive it by middle to end of November anyway. By late Nov, early Dec, this phone will have much more reviews and feedback and will probably go back on sale around Black Friday / Christmas.

      • No good getting Xmas pressies for Aussie Day, Ma'at heh

  • Camera stills comparison between this phone, and the Poco F2 Pro and Redmi K30 Ultra:

    Holds up pretty well!

  • +1

What plug does this come with is it the China upside down Aus one?

    • You do realise this is a pre-order phone right?

      • It's an eu power brick

  • Terrific price
    120hz Refresh Rate Screen

    vs

    Doesn't support 5G
    Heavy, 215g
    LCD instead of AMOLED
    No Local Warranty

    • +1

Would be fair if it wasn't so damn cheap. There aren't really any phones at this price that support 5G. Not having AMOLED is a shame but again, is a fair sacrifice considering the other specs. I guess 215g is a bit on the heavy side, but I've had heavier phones and it's never bothered me.

The only really fair criticism you give is the lack of local warranty. If that is worth more to you than the money saved, then don't buy.

    • +1

I'd add massive battery life & very impressive CPU to the Pro's column
Also not sure this phone is heavy, considering its size.

      • or get it on a credit card with merchandise insurance

    • +1

Is it heavy? Every phone with a 6.6inch+ display and 5000mAh battery weighs over 200gr, so really it's about average really for its class.

  • Should I use coupon or cashrewards or will they stack?

    • I'm wondering about the same thing

      • I used cashrewards without the coupon which gave me $13 AUD back

  • Just hope these are not the fish that John West rejected!!! hehe

  • +1

Awaiting for better rate for AUD/USD

  • is it worth an upgrade from my aging bad battery life pixel 2?

    • Probably, but it really depends on what features matter to you.

      • battery and camera

        • The battery is definitely a strong point on this phone. The camera is also good, but not sure how it compares to the Pixel 2.

  • +1

    Got myself one.

    • Nice!

  • Coupons not working?

    • Worked for me

  • Just bought the Redmi Note 9 Pro a month ago. Great phone, but this seems to be better in every regard…bah.

    Wait no macro camera?

  • +1

Bought it for the final price of $213.40 USD, Just noticed they charged me $990.00 USD. Very nice.

    • Because it got sold out pretty quick, I tried to add it in cart but by the time payment screen came up, it was gone.

  • Went to buy, but by the time the Mastercard verification screen came up, the dollar charge jumped up to 1235… yeah, Nah, I don't think so…. cancel

  • +1

    Got it for $297.59

Anyone did better? Missed out on the T Shirt though

  • Would this be an upgrade from a LG V30+?

    • +1

Yep, but the V30+ has a quad DAC and the display resolution/colour is better.

  • +2

Got the 128gb version for $262.90 or AUD$361.57 pending purchase

    • how you get that? best i got was AU $366.61

      • +1

        I used 28degrees card.

    • +1

      Plus CR 15.92 + $2 bonus today.

  • Just before the sale started the Aliexpress page stated that there had been "1,531 orders", it's now at 5,182 orders at 17:25 AEST.
So I'm assuming that means they have sold over 3,600 units in 25 minutes, bloody hell!!!!

    • Assuming there were 5000 of each colour, there is presently 1000 left of grey and about 3000 blue (no love for blue?).

      • Blue is too bluey

        • +1

Are there people that don't use cases? You never see the phone colour anyway

    • It was on pre order before the sale.. people could have ordered at the fuller price prior?

      • Yes they did and I'd buy it at that price too (if there was no release day discount)!

    • They've added more stock (and hidden how many they've sold, but it's over 20,000)

  • Thanks OP. Got the 128gb version for USD $262.90.

  • Wait does this run Android.. can it run vanilla Android?

    • Yes, it runs Android, but it runs a modified version. It's called MIUI 12.

    • +2

It runs Android of course. If you want vanilla Android, I would expect this to have a decent custom ROM scene, if it's anything like the Poco X2/Redmi K30 (but you'll have to wait a few months).

  • How do you get free t-shirt ? Is it automatic ?

    • Free T-shirts are out of stock.

      • Then how do we know who gets it ?

        • The people that were able to select the "with gift" option in the add-to-cart/checkout process.

          • @Lukian: Oh well, I tried that but delivery from France rather than China.

            • @yht: edit dup

            • @yht: ?? Shipping to AUS is not possible from France, right? Just China. That's probably why the option didn't come up for the free-shirt to begin with and now they're all gone.

              • @DKZ370: I guess because I was in a hurry, and don't know what "with gift" means which possibly getting charged more, and never getting thinga sent from France, I back out. Oh well

                • @yht: The phones are still available, or were you just paying us$194+tax for a tshirt?

                  • @Lukian: I message the seller, hopefully they can give it too.

                • @yht: I waited for 5 months item bought in U.K? Because the company have to wait for France to send them certain parts! Never again.

              • @DKZ370: what shirt look like
