Mod 13/9 (copy paste of the report reply): For those reporting that RRP should be in the forum or similar, there is no such guideline. As always the community will decide if it's a good deal or not via the voting system and/or comments. In general, a deal can be good value or of interest without being discounted as such, whilst a deal can be discounted but still be of little interest or poor value. In any case it's up to members to decide. In relation to potential issues about the deal details, should the deal not go ahead as posted, or another issue that breaches guidelines, it will be removed at that time. Please use TWAM for other issues and keep comments respectful. Thanks

Mod 2 15/9: Mwave has now announced there will be a raffle to purchase (that's a new one). The main deal link has been updated and the deal post moved to forums. Please join the raffle should you be interested in purchasing and continue discussion in the comments below.

    • I ended up doing preorder for the same card. I don't mind the look of it as far as cards go overall. They took my money… fingers crossed I'm not waiting too long….

  • +1

how did people manage to add them to their carts? all the sites just keeps crashing

    • +1

gotta keep refreshing so that others can't check out ahahhahahaha its a battle of attrition at this point

      • +1

yea, i'll call it BS if someone could actually checkout successfully at this stage

  • Someone just bought a Strix 3080 pre-order on eBay for USD 1400. I just …

  • All out of stock on PLE by the looks. Cheapest cards looks to be $1139 (eVGA XC3 Black)

  • I guess it says something about how massive Amazon is that they just don't give a f to list them in the middle of night.

Bezos will probs personally list them himself when he gets up, but not till after breakfast.

  • 1 hour in and I haven't even got to checkout on any of the sites….

  • Nothing to see here bois nothing to see here…

    Move along now…

  • +5

    Managed to snag from PLE

    https://i.imgur.com/cfj2vOe.png

    • Congrats!

    • Noice! By the time I got the site up it was all OOS

  • Managed to snag one for me and one for my friend

    https://imgur.com/B3cjbXM

  • I'm fighting with the checkout on PLE. Card in card but the payment options are dicey…

  • what time did everyone manage to get their orders through on ple? it says my order is being submitted but its been a suspiciously long amount of time now…

    • 11:50~ish

  • Online Computer still has orders up, due on the 9th of October:

    https://www.onlinecomputer.com.au/?cn=114&kw=3080&rf=kwcn

Quite cheap too, $1499 for the Gaming Trio and $1399 for the Ventus.

Shopping Express wanted $1699 and $1499 respectively:

    • +1

Holy shit. That’s a massive markup over US prices.

  • (profanity), i didn't get order in for PLE. I think they will increase prices after tonight. :(

    • On closer inspection, while the EVGA cards were cheaper than what the competitors offered, the Gigabyte, MSI and ASUS cards were pretty much same price across the board.

  • +13

    Report card for the night:

    Computer Alliance: Evil
    PLE: Gods among mortals
Mwave and Scorptec: May their souls rest in peace

    • +3

Oathhh dude. PLE are my go to for the 3080 series and all new gpu launches from now on.

      • +1

Fair prices and their site still technically works. That's a big (profanity) achievement.

        • +1

I highly recommend getting the one that one of the posters here got,The EVGA GeForce RTX3080 FTW3 Ultra 10GB, I'm trying to get a pre-order in because it is priced very competitively. Trying to get a pre-order in with these guys before they change it.

          • @Ghosteye: I just placed an order for one. No clue if it's a pre-order or not - it was in stock when I added it to cart about 30 minutes ago though. Took me that long to check out. Confirmation doesn't mention whether it's a pre-order either.

            • @Ordinance: Same, am excited to see what they're going to do about it. Got confirmation and money taken out of my account too.

I'm quite pleased to see this price for the best GPU you can get atm from evga.

      • They are my first preference, but "Drive & collect" like Scorptec would be great for MEL store

  • i noticed most manage to snag from PLE. Has anyone else have success with the others e.g. Mwave? Scorptec?

    • Tried Scorptec and managed to add to cart but then the site refused to checkout. Finally managed to a MSI Gaming X Trio from PLE for $1399 (~20mins past release).

      • Mr Scorpman is unwell…

    • I ended up just pre-ordering from PLE. It's the one store that at least lets me put an order through!

  • The EVGA XC3 3080 is the same price as the Founders Edition why not get that if you can get your hands on it?

    • In my crazy f5-ness tonight, when i was able to get on some of the EVGA pages, I saw that there was only 1 HDMI 2.1 port? For my set up at home I'm probably going to need two.

      • PLE are also seemingly offering free GPU brackets with the 3080 pre orders. At least that's what I saw when I managed to add one to my cart. That's a nice addition. $1200 is a bit much for me, still hoping 2080ti's drop to $600-$700 or I can get my hands on a 3070 FE. Either that or I get a previous gen Nvidia or AMD card like the 5700XT or wait for Big Navi.

  • Alright, I give up. Goodnight guys

  • Do we think 3090 next week will be as crazy?

    • It's going to be at least twice the price right? I can't imagine it will be.

      • well i mean, with these price hikes should be around $5k

    • highly doubt it, its on the too expensive side for the average gamer

      • okay so i should have less stress haha

      • Agreed - $1200-1500 is already steep and I think I'd consider myself somewhat of an enthusiast.

        • Fair point. Ive been saving for this for a while so im popping it and not looking back haha.

        • +1

yeah, this was probably my one BIG buy for the year and that's about it. (maybe the other Rama keyboard that I'm eyeing but still putting on my thinking face for that one)

          • @Ghosteye: I allocated like $1500 for a new GPU this year, maybe might get a monitor early next year with the 'savings' :P

  • +1
    • Someone bid USD 15,300 on that. Why?

      • USD $20,500.00 now. Effectively a bid is a contract if you win. I'd love to know what happens in the end.

        • Nothing's going to happen:

          US $60,800.00
          (approximately AU $82,929.82)

        • US $75,100.00 now wtf

          • +6

@Serapis: People create fake accounts to screw over those looking to profiteer early on. It may be a contract of sale but good luck collecting from a random fake name. notice all the big bids are accounts with 0 feedback.

            • @gromit: Yeah, that's what I suspected too. Good for them. (profanity) the scalpers

  • Interestingly, after 2 hours of trying, I managed to make it through checkout for an ASUS 3080 at Mwave. PayPal payment went through too so… yeah.

I'm certainly not confident I'll be receiving it any time soon, if at all if I'm honest…

  • Did ANYONE get mWave founders? Starting to think they only had 10 cards.

Edit: Nevermind, I was sure it said 11PM 17th

    • +1

      yeah it does

      RTX 3080 FE available on 17th September @11pm - $1139

and here i was at 3am eagerly waiting for that email til it dawned on me, 3pm is when the raffle's drawn… lol

      • yep it is a pretty F'ed up system they went with, obviously the user friendly way would be to have the rather before they go on sale so people can know if they need to chase down other offers. basically MWave are using it as a marketing tool to suck people into their website. Must say it actually has the reverse effect for me, if I don't get a FE from them in the raffle I certainly won't be buying anything from them.

To be clear though I think Raffle was great idea, just really poorly (or greedily) thought out.

        • Agree. 3pm the day before wouldn't have broken any rules but as it turned out I suppose a lot of people are now happy to be able to still look forward to a slim chance of getting a 'cheap' FE at 4pm today. Good Luck everyone!

  • Just paid for the MSI Gaming X Trio version at Umart for $1469. Status of the card was "pre-order", so I'm not sure when it'll be available.

  • +1

Told you guys that only Centrecom and a few others would mark up the prices to stupid amounts

everyone here should now give PLE a 5 star review :)

  • +2

Good to see those who negged this deal upvote the basically rrp PLE deal

    • how do u know

      what was final +/-

      • Oh I remember the names. Those lovely people who negged me and said things about me.

        • and said things about me.

          Auowww 🥺🥺

  • $1,414 delivered next month if anyone is keen

    https://www.pbtech.com/au/product/VGAPNY3080/PNY-GeForce-RTX…

    • Can't imagine any retailer can promise a delivery date at this stage.

      • Well it's out of stock now like the other 9 cards. Looks like they aren't overselling or doing pre-orders and will most likely stick to the delivery date.

  • Its seems most online retailers accept pre-orders (and you have to pay up front) but then you're stuck with the deal.

Be so much friendlier if they could accept a pre-order and ask for confirmation (and payment) once they have it in stock.

This way it might be months waiting for your card to arrive at one retailer while another one has stock you could have put your hand up for.

Not accepting change of mind for in stock items is fine but popular pre-orders should surely be a different case?

    • PLE said you can cancel your order anytime as long as it hasnt shipped yet

They'll also provide an ETA as soon as they can

  • +2

PLE have said pre-orders will receive an email with ETA and you can cancel for a full refund at anytime.

    • Source please?

      • +2

        https://www.ple.com.au/RTX30Series#faq

"If you unfortunately didn't secure a card in our launch allocation we will be emailing you with an updated ETA (if we can, we are working with our supply partners to organise ETAs ASAP) and instructions for how to proceed."

"Hey, we get it, launches are crazy and you're just trying to get your hands on one of these cards. You can absolutely cancel your backorder with us, we will be emailing all RTX 3080 orders ASAP with updated ETAs (if we can get them) and instructions for how to cancel your order."

Also included link in an email earlier today:

"f you wish to cancel, you may do so at any time by clicking here. You don't have to feel locked in!"

        • At least PLE have been pretty good about the whole thing. It's just a shame all suppliers didn't include a 1 per household / 1 per order restriction for the release for some degree of fairness.

  • +1

There seems to be a reasonable wait for the founders raffle as well:

    https://www.mwave.com.au/blog/2020/9/16/founders-edition-rtx…

"The ETA for the RTX 3080 Founder's Edition is roughly 12th October 2020. It could arrive earlier but due to COVID and international shipping restrictions, this is the expected date"

    • Covid and shipping retrictions but only on FE cards. Right.
They have a total of 3 FE cards to sell and in their FAQ they say they have a "good amount of cards". Right.
      Enough of Mwave's bs.

  • Got one ASUS tuf from jw computers now I just need a new monitor…

    • didn't see any advertising for 3080 on their site.

Did they happen to have anything for EVGA 3080's listed?

      • Nah was browsing at 1230ish and came across them had msi ASUS and gigabyte available all gone now I just checked

  • +4

Centrecom has now dropped their Asus TUF price as well after seeing PLE probably

    they are really scummy

    • Hope they're gonna issue partial refunds to those people they profiteered off.

      • if enough people notice and complain maybe they can, thats why putting the news out there

    • +9

Centrecom are scum. They tried a sneaky price hike in cart with someone's order, from the advertised price of $1549 to actually paying $1649, and they want a payment surcharge on top of it all.
      https://imgur.com/a/UWpTepu

They should be reported. I'd advise avoiding them for any purchases.

      • +3

yeah I aint buying from them anymore

      • +2

yeah, that's a piss poor practice. Hope they get their ass kicked for it.

  • +4

A friend lined up at MSY in Brisbane this morning. They has a total of 2 cards, and were charging $1999.

    • +1

      Wtf!

      • imagine lining up at MSY of all places huehuehue

    • what the (profanity)

    • +4

MSY not only are a shitty store that has shit customer service. They stopped being competitive ages ago. PLE has cheapest 3080 cards being 1139 every scum suckers are selling upwards of 1.5k

  • +6

Goodluck to everyone who entered the raffle ^_^
