As always the community will decide if it's a good deal or not via the voting system and/or comments. In general, a deal can be good value or of interest without being discounted as such, whilst a deal can be discounted but still be of little interest or poor value. Same question here. Haven't seen any claiming a winner. At least let us see how the notification email looks like.

      • if you did get one.. would you say so??

        why wouldn't i? OzBragging ftw

        • I know right!! I would share if I got one.

I guess the only reason I can think of for not sharing is if your planning to flip it on eBay.

    • +4

From here, Whirlpool and OCAU there has been one person that said they got the email since they went out, and apparently the order confirmation stated that the ETA for fulfilment is January.

      • +2

        Pffffff Jan

      • +4

1 person thus far. What did they have, like 5 cards?

I feel like NVidia is gonna get a some rage coming there way for such terrible stock.

      • +1

What?! Weren't they suppose to ship this month?

        • That's what I thought so too.

Must be sending it via carrier pigeon 🕊️

  • +2

well this was fun. see ya’ll in 2021

  • Here ya go people:

A written statement from Nvidia (Jensen him self probably or not)

    From NVIDIA:

“This morning we saw unprecedented demand for the GeForce RTX 3080 at global retailers, including the NVIDIA online store. At 6 a.m. pacific we attempted to push the NVIDIA store live. Despite preparation, the NVIDIA store was inundated with traffic and encountered an error. We were able to resolve the issues and sales began registering normally.

To stop bots and scalpers on the NVIDIA store, we’re doing everything humanly possible, including manually reviewing orders, to get these cards in the hands of legitimate customers.

Over 50 major global retailers had inventory at 6 a.m. pacific. Our NVIDIA team and partners are shipping more RTX 3080 cards every day to retailers.

We apologize to our customers for this morning’s experience.”

    https://videocardz.com/newz/nvidia-issues-a-statement-on-gef…

Nvidia's tensor cores (deep neural networks, for researchers, and big businesses with advanced technologies) must be a scam too if Nvidia have to review each order manually, due to some cheap bot script.

    • +3

      That's not for Australia btw.

    • +5

Oh, I get where they went wrong….

      "we’re doing everything humanly possible"

With all their AI prowess, they used Humans against the bots! :)

    • We are doing evening "humanly" possible.

I'm beginning to think they just might be processing all orders manually 🤣

  • Where are people getting this January 2021 info from regarding PLE? I ordered and paid last night about 1pm, I could wait a month maybe but ehhh.. that's a long time…

    • They only validated your card, you haven't paid for anything yet. Payment is only upon order fulfillment.

      • +1

then why'd they take my money? They took 1.99 just to check and another 1.1k

        • +1

That’s fcked up, wouldn’t 10% deposit would be more reasonable since you have to wait bloody 6 weeks for the card?

          • +1

@cloudie9: Yeeah, When I first saw it I thought it'd be just like Amazon. They only take it once they ship it. PLE though took the money+Shipping and validation and sent me an email saying unknown ETA as they wait for suppliers…?

        • -2

Pre-authorization. If they've actually taken the money the card may be on its way soon.

          • @BargainKen: Is it? They sent me an email saying unkown ETA as they contacting their suppliers. Im 9xxth in line though. There are 900 others who are also waiting. That means they made 900k in one night?

There are order numbers up to the thousands

          • @BargainKen: They have taken the full amount of money upon putting the order (~$1290 shipped for FTW3 Ultra), also recieved email today saying no stock in the foreseeable future:

Thanks for placing an order for an RTX3080 with PLE Computers – as an Australian owned and operated business, we really appreciate your choice to buy from us.

Unfortunately you were not successful in acquiring a card in our launch allocation.

We're in discussions with our supply partners as we speak to organize an ETA for your order. Please be patient, as soon as we have more information, you'll receive another email with update information specific to your order.

Also keep an eye on our RTX3080 landing page (https://www.ple.com.au/RTX30Series) up to date with information applicable to everyone.

If you wish to cancel, you may do so at any time by clicking here. You don't have to feel locked in!

Our phones are running red hot, please refrain from calling us unless it is urgent :)

      • PayPal payments were made in full 😐

Have to agree, they should be doing % deposit required.

      • My card wouldn't go through direct so I paid with PayPal. And the monkeys been taken from my account. The money as well.

      • The card is charged when you order.

        from their website:

PLE Computers accepts Direct Deposit, Money Order, Visa, MasterCard and Cheque (Corporate credit accounts & Trade accounts Clients only, 100pts of ID required) to pay for goods or services. All credit card orders are subject to verification and approval. Credit cards are charged when the order is placed. Orders paid for by Direct Deposit will not be processed or shipped until the funds transfer has been fully verified.

    • people love fear mongering and making bullshit claims thats why

  • All winners have been emailed.

Cheers everyone! See y'all in 2021!

Would love to see how many units of the FE there were in the first place…

    • +1

      less than 100 im betting

      • +1

And probably half were allocated to staff/friends

      • When someone posted about "mwave employee of the month" hooking them up with 10 GPUs, you've gotta question what was really going on behind the scenes…. or if the poster was just trolling.

        • +1

          This is likely a troll

        • I took some interest to this too, fresh twitter account that only did these 2 comments.

Would love to see someone try DM him for an interview or something to see what he knows.

        • The general tone in their twitter replies is markedly different to the tone here.

      • Family , friends of friends etc .Yeah maybe.

    • +2

im starting to think these "only 12 cards available" jokes might actually be true. given the fact that originally there were no plans to launch them here, it makes u question the amount of supply they then could have or would have been able to allocate…

      • +1

I worked at one of these stores during the 20xx series launch and we only got 2-3 units of each model in the first shipment. I wouldn't be surprised if this was similar for AIB models. FE, I suspect a higher number for it to make commercial sense to offer the FE card and handling the whole order/raffle thing. Otherwise, it just cost Mwave money to disappoint a lot of people.

        • i mean, no one even knows at this point so it doesn't cost Mwave anything.

The only thing we do know about them is how they, like most retailers last night tried to gouge everyone with their greed and 'oh but its just SRP/MSRP' yada yada BS

    • +6

Their lack of transparency with this whole thing has certainly made sure I won't be using them to purchase anything in the future.

  • +1

If anyone got the email, please comment here. Keen to know if anyone actually got it or was it all just a sham marketing trick.

  • Glad I stayed up to order an AIB now.

  • +1

alright, now where are the winners?!!!

https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/NVIDIA-GeForce-RTX-3080-10GB-GDD… this ebay seller, probably mwave themselves, or someone connected to the store!

    • +2

That clown has nothing on-hand to sell:

" If my order does not get a shipment confirmation within the week of September 17th, you will receive a full refund"

Surprised Ebay allows such listing when the seller clear states they don;t have anything.

      • +1

Yeh, people need to come down on eBay harder. Scalper issue is only getting worse. eBay needs to do much much more to stop this kind of thing from happening on their platform. But why would they, when at end of the day, ebay get a percentage of the scalper's scummy profiteering.

        • Then don’t bother, people need to educate themselves not to buy off scummy scalpers.

  • +4

Surprised they were so slow in emailing all the Mwave employees who won the cards.

    • +2

Employees themselves most likely had another raffle among themselves to decide who can get a card.

      • +2

definitely. At least they usually do that in retail stores. Most of my mates work in each. EBGames/Zing Target/Bigw

  • +5

    Remember to unsubscribe from Mwave!

    • +4

They now have all our details thanks to this scam they ran.

      • Fool us once, shame on us I guess :/

    • +2

And to never buy from them. Not hard though, their prices are as bad as their customer service.

  • Anyone know how to cancel their mVIP membership? lol

    • +2

To trick more people, they should have said in the terms that mVIPs will have a higher chance of winning the raffle, or there will be a separate raffle specially for mVIPs. The truth is, there is no raffle at all. They are laughing for free potential customer information.

Apparently, according to GamerNexus, one of the anonymous NVIDIA partner statements given to him about this launch was "It was definitely not a paper launch. It was a reasonable amount, but it just all sold out. Inventory was similar to previous launches".

The demand was just so unprecedented that it basically broke everything.

    • Oh I got an AIB from elsewhere, so I'm not worried. I'm sure Mwave employees and near family and friends had their first pick in this "raffle". Gotta take care of your own!

    • +2

and thats on people overhyping stuff

I still dont get the angry people bitching that they cant buy something immediately like a child

If you are one of those that quickly sold your 20 series card thats all on you

      • I don't think people are mad about that man, I think it's anger towards scalpers and businesses leveraging their position on these cards.

But I see where you coming from.

        • +1

          Mwave in Sydney.

10x Founders Edition cards scalped in Sydney with description that is clearly a lie. "Coincidence".

          • @Vita85: lol, and it doesn't take a genius if you look at her feedback. You can clearly see 'lovenicole951' works in retail.

Again, this justifies my previous statement of 'businesses leveraging their position'.

            • +1

@Ceejay: 4 sold for 2k. Then another 10 listed for 2.5k. More to come no doubt.

            • +1

@Ceejay: they're a serial scalper… Just look at how much she sold those rift s' for… Jesus

              • @Creamy: Hiding behind ebay, no respected store (online or physical) would ever get away with something like this.

Hopefully Nvidia catches on and bans these people from future releases.

                • +2

@Ceejay: I've let Nvidia Australia know. Hopefully they investigate it further. There's no way they can have access to them in Aus without going through Mwave.

                  • +2

@Vita85: Good on you mate. Up voting you for this.

What I don't understand is Mwave was the only officially announced store to have rights to supply the founders edition (Nvidia stated this themselves). So 'lovenicole951' obviously has some sort of connection to Mwave?

        • a lot of people are angry because they cant get their new toy asap lol

many also “predict” that it’ll take till 2022 for orders to be fullfilled, dont even know how they got those numbers

  • I got an idea for next time they do some BS like this: Run a fcfs but every person can only purchase one and has to do at least 3 different captchas before they can even check out, and before they check out they fill out another captcha lmao.

That should stop the bots and let the people earnest enough to have a chance.

  • scarcity by design, gg

  • Everyone should flood this guy with offers of $1k:

        MWave. There was no "raffle".

Nvidia about to buy arm, expect expensive over priced phones with Nvidia owning the rights, the Nvidia fiasco (probably rigged the 3080 for free publicity, the world leader couldn't place a ffn capture card before check out is Nvidias fault, anyways people will be hating Nvidia soon.

All arm phone CPU architecture will be partly owned by Nvidia, Holly hell Goodbye Sony Experia affordability, good bye xiomai, good bye oppo welcome to real world class greed.

    • They are spending 40Billion USD to achieve domination…

      • Actually arms worth 1 trillion dollars, it's kinda cheap, having patents no one else can get around, (thank goodness for net neutrality, we all can have affordable hardware, and thanks to google too) however Nvidia (I mean America ) owns alot of patents, most Americans couldn't give a toss about what happens outside America, let alone if Americas entirely separate from china.

The final negotiations finish in 1.8 months, no country will agree to its deal, as china and the UK and Europe all must find leway with Nvidia ( I mean America.)

    GIGABYTE confirms GeForce RTX 3060 8GB, RTX 3070 16GB and RTX 3080 20GB

    • +1

      They should/have released:

      RTX3060 - 8GB
      RTX3070 - 10GB
      RTX3080 - 16GB
      RTX3090 - 24GB

      • +4

Waiting for AMD to launch with higher memory (stated some months back), while locking in eager adopters now. GDDR6x is expensive so less memory makes the performance uplift on this release look cheap.

I suspect 3060 and 3070 will remain on GDDR6 only, but low entry price now plus bigger memory soon gives them ammunition on both fronts vs AMD.

Re ARM deal, it also makes sense as AMD has GPU since ATI deal, and Intel XE GPUs may not be crap this time. They needed to cover the CPU market too, and couldn't get x86 or x86-64 licenses

    • +2

meh, scalpers, I have no sympathy for them. they want to play that game I think they are fair game for others.

    • +5

They are using bots with the fake ebay accounts to bid among each others to screw up the scalpers ebay listing.

I bet these listings are from Mwave employees/friends/families.

      • I truly hope people have organised bots to give them a hard time selling haha serves them right for using bots to bulk buy.

      • +3
        • wow… no remorse!

Curious, so contacted the seller. Here's what Pete has to say.

    https://imgur.com/a/weWg3r4

    • +1

      Must be an employee

    • More than likely the seller has managed to pre-order. They'll try to hold off sending anything to the buyer until they receive their orders.

      • +1

But they wouldn't have been able to pre-order 10 units from mwave, so it is 100% an employee.

    • As per my link just above your comment, this is what Pete has to say:
      https://imgur.com/a/82tbbHS

  • +8

Seems many people here are hating the easy targets yet no-ones going to the Nvidia forums to call BS on their excuse "unprecedented buyer demand" ….. Demand is the same every time a new gen of card is released, Nvidia wouldn't be much of a business if they couldn't predict sales this late in the game.

Who here wouldn't buy a card through the backdoor if they had someone on the inside. And hold the BS excuses that "I'd be buying it for my rig so I can toss over some extra pixels while everyone else is doing it for extra cash".

I'd suggest ignore the people selling these cards, all people are doing is giving them extra advertising and pushing the price up for the poor sod who finally impulse buys the damn things. Instead, wait for AMD cards and give the middle finger to Nvidia.

    • Yeah my finger to them is ready.

Got an email from PLE today,

    Hi,

If we haven't mentioned, thanks again for pre-ordering your RTX3080 with PLE Computers!

As everyone is aware, global demand for the RTX30 series is significantly above Nvidia, the card manufacturers and the resellers expectations.

Our procurement team has been in close and constant discussion with both Nvidia and the card manufacturers in relation to fulfilling all the orders for RTX30 Series graphics cards.

Important information for all RTX30 Series customers:
We have already supplied our customers with more than double the number of RTX20 series cards at the same number of days since launch.
All our RTX30 graphics card supply partners ship weekly shipments to PLE in both Victoria and Western Australia. We find out mid-week what we will receive the following week.
Until you receive your order, we will email an update similar to this one every Thursday with the latest information.
Due to the extreme demand for RTX30, even the manufacturers have limited ability forecast beyond 1 week.
Similar to previous launches, the first 4 weeks are the tightest supply and from there it increases very significantly.
There is no "stock" of these cards sitting at manufacturer's distribution warehouses, when you receive your card it was likely manufactured within the prior 7 - 14 days.
That means, any hiccups in supply (the upcoming Chinese Golden Week, freight interruptions due to weather, covid, customs delays etc) typically have an immediate impact.
By providing you with a weekly update, any of these types of events can be communicated to everyone efficiently.
All manufacturers have received the order quantities PLE received for their respective cards and they have all offered a committment to PLE to fulfill as quickly as possible.
If you see our retail prices changing, they are only changing due to changes in our costs. Your order is locked in at the price you ordered at.
You may cancel at any time. Click here, log in to your MyPLE account and hit Cancel order.
If you wish to change card, you will be at the back of the queue for that particular card at the time of change. It wouldn't be fair to put you in front of someone else.

Please see the following information specific to your order:

Your card does not currently have a confirmed ETA. We're expecting larger deliveries commencing late October, you'll likely receive your card in late October to early November. As we get closer, you will begin to receive an estimated date from PLE.

If you wish to cancel, you may do so at any time by clicking here. You don't have to feel locked in! Once you cancel, it cannot be undone - you will have to join the queue again.

Our sales team do not have any additional information about your ETA. Please be patient, we've committed to weekly updates to keep everyone in the loop :)

    Thanks

    PLE Computers

So,still kinda vague, but as transparent as possible… I ordered my card on that fateful night, order SO8718XX, I dunno hopefully not waiting till Nov eh,it will give me a chance to check out what's happening with Big Navi / RDNA2 / RX6700 / The-Card-So-Nice-They-Named-It-Thrice…

    • Mines SO873XX, but with "you'll likely receive your card in early to mid November."

Not too bad considering my placement.

Just to be clear, I preordered the evga xc3 ultra.
