Update 2: Pretty crap move from Mwave. Welcome to the now RTX 30xx raffle. Hand over all your personal info and sub to their newsletter to have a near impossible chance. Well played Mwave

Mod 13/9 (copy paste of the report reply): For those reporting that RRP should be in the forum or similar, there is no such guideline. As always the community will decide if it's a good deal or not via the voting system and/or comments. In general, a deal can be good value or of interest without being discounted as such, whilst a deal can be discounted but still be of little interest or poor value. In any case it's up to members to decide. In relation to potential issues about the deal details, should the deal not go ahead as posted, or another issue that breaches guidelines, it will be removed at that time. Please use TWAM for other issues and keep comments respectful. Thanks

Mod 2 15/9: Mwave has now announced there will be a raffle to purchase (that's a new one). The main deal link has been updated and the deal post moved to forums. Please join the raffle should you be interested in purchasing and continue discussion in the comments below.

        • Yes, you're wrong. If you're referring to RTX IO, this will reduce decompression loads on the CPU and improve load times on games that actually implement it (likely a year or two away), but you can't "bypass the CPU entirely" lol.

          • @elli0t: Ah right. "entirely" was the wrong word to use, I guess what I meant was it'll become less of a bottleneck?

            • @R.R.P: I don't believe RTX IO will benefit in terms of framerate performance (CPU bound scenario), only load times. It may take some load off the CPU, but it's hard to say at this stage how much that impacts framerate (especially at higher fps)

    • -2

      lol

    • +1

You'd be far better off buying a 3080 and selling in 2 years for the 4080…. upgrade cost will be minimal and the performance will beat the 3090 and you'll be WELL infront $ wise too.

And rinse repeat in 4 years with the 5080.

  • +5

    RRP, not a bargain

  • -1

    "Good luck picking one up."
Yes now thanks to you OP.

  • My wallet just resigned.

  • +4

Not a bargain at all. Rrp

Edit - are there really 400 or so ozbargainers out there who are considering buying this?

And if so, are they just planning to sell it on for a profit?

    • Nope, they just don't want to miss this 'deal'. Otherwise other cards would be more expensive than this with the same chips.

Form this side, I totally understand that some think it is a bargain.

  • +1

Poster getting a bit butt hurt, yes you aren't the first in recent times to post something like this… It still doesn't fit the site… It's called Ozbargain, yet lots of people are just trying to use it as "now in stock" or news posting… Use forums… If people are interested in finding out this stuff the news is all over the internet.

    Make ozbargain about bargains again!

    • +4

Good on you, Mr Vigilante Sir. Brave of you to post the 500th version of this.

    • +3

The OP isn't butt hurt. Rather pointing out how dumb some of these neggers are saying how RRP isn't a bargain. Clearly it is based on the evidence.

  • Do I buy this or just wait a few months for the best aftermarket card…. Hmmm…

  • even worth an upgrade from 2080 founder?

  • +7

Why wasn't there this many downvotes when Samsung or Apple launched their phones for RRP?

  • +2

This is worse than 1000+ upvotes on a ebay discount code with zero bargain posted.

  • Is the rtx 3090 really worth twice the price of the rtx 3080??!

    • +1

      Worth. No.

      Is. Yes.

    • +1

Yes worth it if you're into AI/ML. It's actually the cheapest and most powerful solution available.

RTX 3090 is not a gaming card, it's a TITAN for other uses that require CUDA cores.

  • First post. From what I have seen so far, the FE cards will be the cheapest on the market for the first few months. AIB's will release cards well above RRP. This is Nvidia's push to release a card that is seen as value for money however the real cost will be born by the AIB's who will have to release cards far above the RRP. Get them while they are hot and good luck getting a 3080 at RRP for the next 6 months once the FE cards are bought up.

  • +4

    RRP isn't a bargain.

This isn't a product that has even been released.

Did I mis-click? Am I just on plain ol' OzAdvertising now?

For some reason I've had negative post removed by a moderator… because it said "yeah nah this isn't a deal" …which I feel isn't dissimilar to most of the posts here, so NFI what was up with that.Hopefully this post better explains the neg vote.

    • +7

This site is full of double standards

      • +4

        Cough aldi cough

        I'm glad someone sees it.

    • The voting guidelines were sent to you, but here they are again in case you missed them:

      Inappropriate uses of negative vote

Any negative vote that falls into any of these reasons will be revoked by a moderator. Negative votes for any other reason will not be removed by a moderator. These are verbatim phrases.

      No explanation of the vote:
      “No deal/Not a deal”

If you wish to neg vote with the reason its RRP, that's fine next time, just ensure you write your reason, instead of 'no deal' or similar.

      Thanks

  • +1

To all the people negging … read the rules…. just has to be lowest price ! And guess what… this is …. so many cry babies out there “RRP”.

    • +5

So I should out a deal out there for the Xbox at EB for $750?

      • -6

        Read the rules

        • Reckon it'll be taken down for saying it's ok if this is OK like the salty OP?

          • @scuderiarmani: How is the OP salty? All he's done is pointed out the double standards (as you've mentioned) regarding RRP.

            • @Clear: Two wrongs don't make a right. It's salty and childish.

It's no different to posting Netflix additions because games pass additions are fine and using that as a justification.

They weren't allowed. Nor should this.

              • @scuderiarmani: So pointing out that other RRP deals have been posted is salty and childish? That makes you and I salty and childish as well as we've both done exactly that.

It sounds like a forum post is in order. The mods do take feedback and that's how most of the guidelines have been created.

                • -2

@Clear: His edit is salty. The post wasn't.

                  • -1

@scuderiarmani: But how? His edit is pointing out that other RRP posts were considered a deal so this should be too. Again double standards.

                  • +3

@scuderiarmani: FYI my edit wasn't salty. Seeing this post generated so much RRP remove it hate, I was just pointing out apparently these posts are fine from previous examples.
As you've stated below "I see switch deals a little differently" you're clearly showing a RRP deal is in the eyes of the beholder. The exact double standard I'm pointing out.
Either way 430 up votes, 81 negs, and 2 badges later, love it or hate it but I'm not taking it personally. As long as it helps 1 person securing one, I'm glad I could help. Isn't that what this whole community should be about?

                    • @NixMo1: Well it ain't to brag about getting badges

                      • +1

@scuderiarmani: Definitely not. TBH i was pouring a bit more salt in to your wound.

Any who instead of flooding this post with the same repetitive stuff, how about we make it easier for other members to actually discuss the card and their setups? Nah, let's just ruin it for everyone that's genuinely interested!

                  • +1

@scuderiarmani: Never see it as salty, there are double standards here. Aldi posts, Nintendo Switches post, those are most of the times RRP prices anyway.

But it does help some people for those kinds of post.

                    • @froddoog: Seems scud is salty about the badges now.

                      • +2

@Clear: He has some shiny badges!

                      • @Clear: Aye… Salt is bad for my cholesterol!

          • @scuderiarmani: The only thing you could maybe Neg on. Is the lack of detail… as there isn’t a an actual link to mwave the store selling it.

But RRP can still equal a deal

            • -1

@zerog101: That too. And there's going to be 2/5 of (profanity) all available too.

I see the Switch deals a little differently, they've repeatedly sold out and been scalped. This hasn't YET.

      • No, because the series x will have more availability and more importantly will always be $750. This on the other hand will be the cheapest card for the next 6 months

        • …yeah because the XB1 never had any deals..if only there was a site we could go to and see all the various deals over the years….hrmm

          • +1

@Osiris: I think you misunderstand, what I meant was that $750 is the price ceiling for the Series X. It will never be above that, therefore at that price it isn't a deal. This on the other hand will be the cheapest card for the next few months, with all the the AIB's charging more, for worse coolers

            • +1

@cille745: my apologies I did misunderstand thanks for clarifying

            • @cille745: Previously, gigabyte and others charged more for better coolers. This time around, unless they come up with some other marketing spin, we might see a change.

This cooler actually cost NVIDIA quite a bit to make over the standard blowers and pipes they used before. Without it, other companies might pass savings onto the rest of us. But having said that, I think at launch these will sell like hotcakes and stock will be short for many months to come…

Let's see what AMD comes up with in OCT

              • @plague69: I agree, the new cooler costs $150 USD to manufacture according to Gamer's Nexus

  • I have the money to buy any of this cards but I will not buy into the hype this prices are full retail prices not bargains. I will wait for a actual bargain.

    • +1

You probably wont be able to buy for a loong time then. Most 3rd party cards would have jacked up the prices for sure considering how big a cooling this needs and the demand it has.

      • Nvidia need to sell cards to pay for that 40bn ARM purchase, they'll be flooding the market with the 30 series, especially since Samsung has a lot of fab capacity to spare.

First batch is always limited, but nvidia said themselves that supply will be far better than Turing launch.

        • This isnt the info coming from me, its all over the internet. Just google it. Seems like the yeilds are not as expected.

  • +2

I suspect an announcement which make the founders cars available is Oz is the bargain here…. Which is a saving over other methods of procurement?!
This should belong in the forums.

  • +8

Here I thought there was a discounted price available somewhere, this is not a deal. We don't use OzB for purely awareness of availability dates.

  • +5

Posting RRP before even release date.

    • +1
      • +4

Agree…. some people are just too salty about this RTX 3000 series. Maybe they just purchased 2000 series recently.

        • They're joining the neg train. With most deals it only takes a few for everyone else to follow. The best part is that a lot of them even negged the 2000 series clearance deals because the 3000 series is just around the corner.

          • @Clear: Sigh… There we go again with the double standards.

This kinda post or deal posted here does help some people to be aware that this product exists (like me, I'm almost never going to google and type "is FE available in Australia?)

So this post actually does help me and some people to know and aware that certain product is available.
            So Why neg?

      • -1

How do you know what that rrp is? It's an ALDI special buy, so one would expect it to be cheaper

        • +1

Oh so it's the normal price then? Normal prices aren't bargains.

          • @Clear: Well go there and neg it. Not sure why you are complaining here. It's not normal anyway.

            • @scuderiarmani: Because most of the neggers here have double standards when they shouldn't.

            • +1

@scuderiarmani: Seriously you're like a broken record. It takes far more energy to keep carrying on like you are than to not ignore it and move on.

Like I said to you earlier, do the right thing, be the bigger person and let people who are genuinely interested discuss instead of raining on their parade. There are far more people interested than not and this is shown by the votes so let it be.

Stop being so salty and move on. In response to your next reply: Yes that's right you are salty, if you weren't so salty you wouldn't have invested so much time commenting over and over again.

              • -3

@NixMo1: Why are you going on and on?

I know, you said it already. To add salt to wounds.

Self confessed troll. Who also brags he got badges for it.

                Don't like my neg? Stiff.

                You aren't discussing anything useful.

                • @scuderiarmani: lol what a joker.

People do genuinely disuccing about the product here.

                • @scuderiarmani: how much for your 2080ti?

                  • -2

@michaelTito: I sold 2 2080s for profits a couple of months ago. But thanks for your attempt at being clever :)

                    • @scuderiarmani: why did you stop at 2? should've sold more than 2 for more profit.

                      • @michaelTito: Because I had 2 in 2 different systems…. I didn't buy and sell for profits, I took advantage of hardware going up in value and I very lightly used them for 1 to 1.5 years each.

But keep going with the scalping line.

I also wasn't stupid enough to hold onto them and sold them a good month or 2 ago.

  • Do you think I’m gonna suffocate this card if I put it in standing up using a pic-e extender… so that you could see the card close to the window in the nzxt h510i PC case?

    Thanks in advance

    • +1

Depends how close the is to the glass. There's a few videos online about it.

The cooler master vertical mount gives good space between glass and card. But some others push it up against glass

      • Thanks mate. Look I’m still gonna get it and try it out… if worse comes to worse I’ll just slot it in the motherboard and call it a day… my 1080 needs to rest!

        Cheers

  • +4

"Your comment has been unpublished by a moderator.
Reason: Inappropriate use of negative vote
Message:Original comment: No bargain. No deal"

    Sure.

  • going to ask if you guys can please let me get one first as my case only allows for a 300mm gpu and the other options under this size look crap, k… thanks

    • Lol. Good luck

  • +3

Usually I'd be in the "RRP = no deal" camp, but some reports from leakers like Moore's Law Of Dead indicate these founders editions may be loss leaders with limited stock while AIB models are more expensive. Like a 3D chess move by NVIDIA to 'game' the price to performance metrics.
I take it all with a grain of salt, but at the very least resale is likely to good, so if people want to take the plunge I say go for it.

    • Because its not a 'deal" - 99% that want it wont be able to secure it for this price, its like some 'Supreme' level BS, where the only way to actually get the product is resellers for massive price inflations.

      • +1

I agree with most of what you said, but the fact is, those few who do manage to grab one of these FE card, will be getting a deal as it will be for cheapest rtx 30 series cards available for likely a long time.

  • +5

I disagree with all the negs. If you can secure one at that price, great as it will be cheaper then any other 3080s from AIB partners. If you don't think its a good deal, or price you don't upvote.

    • Im trully hoping the NVidia FE cards blow the AIB partner cards out the water for temp managment.

This will then force AIBs to compete directly against Nvidia's offerrings … they're now competing properly against AIBs for retail market share.

      • +1

Every single generation, the FE cards cooling has been absolutely crap.

And every generation they hype it up.

I'm betting it'll be just as bad this generation.

        • That's been true, but that 3080 cooler design really makes sense particularly in my top venting case. I guess we get to find out on the 16th when reviewers pass the embargo

          • @TheLurker: The card might run cooler but I'm betting it'll roast the (profanity) out of your CPU if you're using air cooler. It ejects heat directly onto it lmao

            • @KenDiaMoi: I'm keen to see test results of that on Wednesday when released, but it could suit my new build layout really well. I could even split the case to make a 'chimney'. Any other gpu has nothing but 2 slot width as an exhaust. We'd never constrain a cpu like that, and this thing runs at 320w. New design just seems logical to me. Edit: it's an itx mb so the 3080 card back exhaust is firing into open space, just.

  • Haters gunna hate

  • +9

It's interesting seeing how many people are complaining it's not a deal because it's RRP when you can clearly see from the upvotes that a lot of people (including myself) sees this as a deal.

From my personal POV, reading this post helped me because I now know this is actually happening first and foremost when they originally said it wont.

With the amount of people that wants this card, I dont believe there's anyone who is under the illusion that this card would be easy to get. Knowing where, when and how is an advantage and a good deal.

    • +4

Some actually care about posts being bargains, others are just AMD fanboys.

    • -1

some people just upvote anything, then you have members like clear and the gang running around trying to turn it into some ideological debate that we need to upvote this otherwise you're salty. All you guys have done is set a precedent where the bias of the mods is going to be increasingly exposed in the future as they have to deal with a slew of rrp posts that aren't benefiting them like this one or you have more product announcements clogging up the site.

I can go anywhere to find the rrp of stuff the value of this site is bargains so congrats on the effort really improving things here.

      • -3

then you have members like clear and the gang running around trying to turn it into some ideological debate that we need to upvote this otherwise you're salty.

Except I didn't upvote the deal so that's not right. If that's what you call exposing the double standards of people's voting patterns - RRP is okay sometimes but not always right?

I'm sure it'll be a discussion for the mods tomorrow when they're all back at work considering the number of unresolved reports. These kind of things are almost never looked at on weekends.

      • I don't understand the pressure of upvoting otherwise you're salty… At the end of the day, no one sees nor cares if you vote or not.

Value is on the eye of the beholder. Which is why the voting system is there. Not many people understand the value of knowing when where or how to get this card because missing out on this card and having to wait months before the second supply of the cards come about and that's fine.

Those that who does are upvoting it including myself.

        • ..yeah we get why you are upvoting it but disagree with that being what is of value on this site.

    • Alot of people, including myself are banned from voting on deals.

  • -1

Its Sunday so I would have thought todays neggers would have been in church or protesting at their local mall about the price of tofu, not on here bitching about a graphic card.

    • +6

      Whatever dude.

Everyone's in their right to hold whatever opinion they have. To me, it seems all the "bitching" is coming from you insulting other people for not following the majority. Let people have their discussion.

  • I consider this a deal because the card wasn't meant to be sold at all in Australia. For mwave to secure a deal with Nvidia after finding out about the backlash is huge. No other card would fit my case.
