Mod 13/9 (copy paste of the report reply): For those reporting that RRP should be in the forum or similar, there is no such guideline. As always the community will decide if it's a good deal or not via the voting system and/or comments. In general, a deal can be good value or of interest without being discounted as such, whilst a deal can be discounted but still be of little interest or poor value. In any case it's up to members to decide. In relation to potential issues about the deal details, should the deal not go ahead as posted, or another issue that breaches guidelines, it will be removed at that time. Please use TWAM for other issues and keep comments respectful. Thanks

Mod 2 15/9: Mwave has now announced there will be a raffle to purchase (that's a new one). The main deal link has been updated and the deal post moved to forums. Please join the raffle should you be interested in purchasing and continue discussion in the comments below.

In a way, quite glad they're not offering the 3070 so I don't get tempted by any of this until I have multiple brands and choice later.

Might even have a 3080 that is cheaper then founders like Galax that way.

Announcement of a new product is not a bargain

    • +2

      Yes, this is disingenuous.

I feel like some anti vaxxer conspiracy theorist, but Good luck All :)

    • +3

AMD's drivers were bad enough for me that Ampere cards could be twice the RRP for their entire lifetime, and I'll still buy one.

      • +1

Ditto - the 5700XT has huge sound issues running on my LG C9 TV and AMD have never fixed the issue. Switching over to Nvidia going forward.

    • That's interesting analysis , i have put my buy on hold till 2021.

    • Interesting!

Are the Founders Editions for members of the Dominion only?

    • Credit for Star Trek DS9 Reference!

  • +5

Obviously not a bargain but why is this being negged and not all the Nintendo stuff that gets posted here? I assume OP is posting since it is an item is in high demand and will sell out very fast, much like the nintendo stuff. thnx op.

  • OzGPU

  • Every time someone negs this deal I send the link to another friend. Not that it should worry the neggers… it's not a deal, after all.

Edit: Neggers of this comment - leave comment below explaining why you think this is a problem :)

  • +1

Thanks OP, pre ordered 2 3080s for SLI

    • I went four for quad-sli

      • +1

Nice hope you have a 3000W power supply.

        • 5000w diesel generator, should be enough.

    • You cannot SLI RTX 3080, only the 3090…

      • +2

Why would you want to, though? SLI is dead and who would ever need more performance than 1 3090?

        • +2

RTX 3090 isn't really a gaming card. It's basically a TITAN focused on AI/ML and other use cases that need more CUDA cores. There's certainly a need for some. Not most of us.

          • +1

@Hybroid: 3090 is even better deal for ML than 3080 for gamers, 24GB card of such performance has never been so cheap. Certainly useful to have two or maybe even 4 of them (PSU allowing, hopefully 2KW should work) for larger models training.

        • Maybe if you need more GDDR6X then 24gb not sure if these will share the memory…

      • +4

You can SLI anything with a dremmel and gaffa tape mate.

    • Except only the 3090's will support SLI!

    • FYI: the 3080s don't have SLI connectors

  • I think we can expect this sort of pricing for a few months

  • This news is everywhere post and send it to whoever you want.

This is just that, news and full rrp that can be found on nvidias site..how are we even divided on this everyone & even the OP knows this belongs in the forums.

  • RRP is not a bargain.

  • The same people negging probably also upvote PPSR every time it’s posted at RRP every 3 months as a “deal”.

    • +2

      Personal Property Securities Register (PPSR)??

    • Push-Pull Standing Rows?

  • Are these any good for BTC mining?

    • +1

Sure.. Just redirect whatever you mine to your electricity company… Lol

      • +1

That's OK - I can sustain 320W on the exercise bike.

        • +1

Lycra can create static though, so careful handling the rig while you power it!

  • +5

RRP, not a bargain (commenting so I can cast my first neg lol)

    • -1

It's significantly higher than RRP - does that mean it's OK to post?

    • +1

Replying so I can do the same

  • if that's cheap wonder what my computer should cost

  • +1

    Why upvote… just because it's a new product? 😕

    • +3

apparently when it comes to gpus people will upvote anything, trash, news, rrp.

  • -5

Unless you know how to modify it with water block, do not buy, or it will probably burn your memory and CPU by hot air blowing from strange ways.
Deep Learning or Mining rigs rarely use FE cards since the bad thermal will ruin its performance.

    • Lol i have visions of cpu n ram on fire… Make sure u video your findings after the nda is over… Def keen to watch it catch fire…

      • Ahh so not gonna buy one then

        • I'd consider it but i have a nr200 itx setup and 650W PSU… Sooo it'll be borderline power wise.. So not sure. And its frikin $1.1k!!

  • intensely grabs popcorn

  • Nah not this time

  • +4

    RRP though

  • The sites slow just from people viewing, RIP servers when sale starts

  • +2

    News is a bargain?

  • +2

this "bargain" is an advertisement for a normal price…..hence not a bargain (read name of website OP)

  • dat price jack

  • The first GPU I knew was Geforce 256 and now Nvidia fanboys pointed at me also pretending they knew everything and downvoted opinions against them just looked pretty pathetic.

  • -1

I thought Australia was not going to receive founder editions?

    • +1

They changed their mind after reading OzBargain.

  • -1

RRP of 50 face masks is $112 but selling it for $18 with free shipping in mydeal.com.au.
I wish this happens to $2429 graphic card. I will love it.

  • +3

    Is this just rrp ?

  • FYI These cards are NOT compatible with watercooling blocks from what I’ve seen

    • lol yea, go the AIB models if that's your thing.

      • Yeah, wish there was some pricing and what was coming from those, gotta wait some more I guess.

        • Demand is gonna be big for a while - hopefully their manufacturing is going into overdrive.

    • Think there's a Byski block for FE but that's all I've seen. Rest should be for "reference" PCB's

      • Hmm interesting, nice, I hadn’t seen that one yet. That’s a damn small footprint! Reminds me of the R9 Fury’s

    • Not true at all. Bykski have done one and EK just announced their too.

    • EK released a sneak peek of their Founders Edition Block

  • rrp

  • +10

This is actually a bargain though.
You can only get founders edition from mwave in Australia, so if you were to buy overseas, it would most likely be more expensive with shipping and currency conversion, assuming they are not sold out.
So I suspect the negs are just a ploy.

  • +1

I think it's a deal especially because, now we're getting the Founders Edition cards, that should put some restraint on retailers selling the AIB models.

  • +4

Ugh why has OzBargain just become a place for people to post things at RRP price.

    • Because RTX3070, 3080, 3090s are all hyped up so much.

      • +2

so is every gpu every generation. Didn't realise this was a news + product announcement site now.

        • +4

You're in the minority. +250 likes and counting, clearly people want these cards and we didn't expect them in Aus for FE, so either way they're doing us a favour by telling us its available. And a lot of people in the market for GPU's check ozbargain so its helpful.

          • +7

@Torch000: Kind of got nothing to do with whether people find it useful info or not. You want news visit a gaming or gpu based site, people come here for bargains. This by its very nature is not a bargain. But the mods seem happy for this site to become a mouthpiece for product announcements so I look forward to wading through more rrp in the future.

            • +1

@Osiris: Ozbargain have mouths to feed. Let it be.

        • Site is evolving, it needs to anyway.
With the Covid-19 situation, we are getting less bargains. PS Plus and XBox Live Gold monthly "free" games are now regular posts. So "early announcement" has been allowed.

This series is hyped up (as it generally exceeds most people's initial expectation) so it attracts too many + votes. Anyway, nVidia has to do this as XBox Series X's GPU specs simply means Turing's lineup is not going to be good enough.

AMD insist on announcing RDNA 2 after Zen 3 CPUs. I guess Zen 3 CPUs will give Intel a hard time and investors will be happy. AMD already released BIOS updates for X570 to support Zen 3 CPUs it seem.

          • @netsurfer: Covid shouldn’t really change anything going forward with regards to the site once the situation has been dealt with.

There’s plenty of places for you to wade through RRP posts and Ozbargain shouldn’t be the site to do so.

If the future of Ozbargain is just product launches then god that’ll be the end of this site. Leave that stuff to the forums or elsewhere, it doesn’t belong here.

Imagine if someone posts every AIB model of a 3080 simply because it’s a new product. Then do that for the 3070 and 3090. Yeah, no that makes no sense

    • Because supply/demand changed in 2020

    • Look at every switch or Nintendo Game posted then you will see

  • -2

How many bitcoins can I mine with this?

    • -1

Apparently ETH mining is 3-4 times more efficient compared to the 20xx series of cards.

  • +2

Oh great, this is on Ozbargain so now I'll have more to compete with next week :(

  • Will this fit in my mini ITX case? or is it the other way around?

    • Depends on many things including big size differenve between the two cards in this deal. Not sure which you want.

Case manufacturers provide gpu size limits, and 30x0 FE sizes are published already. You should find an answer with a quick Web search

  • +5

This is not even a bargain. Literally RRP

And thanks for letting the whole of Australia know, making it harder for the rest of us

    • +1

Dude rrp things get posted all the time on ozbargain if its preorder/may sell out. Don't be salty you may miss out you win some you lose some.
