Mod 13/9 (copy paste of the report reply): For those reporting that RRP should be in the forum or similar, there is no such guideline. As always the community will decide if it's a good deal or not via the voting system and/or comments. In general, a deal can be good value or of interest without being discounted as such, whilst a deal can be discounted but still be of little interest or poor value. In any case it's up to members to decide. In relation to potential issues about the deal details, should the deal not go ahead as posted, or another issue that breaches guidelines, it will be removed at that time. Please use TWAM for other issues and keep comments respectful. Thanks

Mod 2 15/9: Mwave has now announced there will be a raffle to purchase (that's a new one). The main deal link has been updated and the deal post moved to forums. Please join the raffle should you be interested in purchasing and continue discussion in the comments below.

Downvoted for the truth. Seems a lot of people disagree that RRP deals get posted. They've never seen the Nintendo Switch or the Aldi deals so they may need a Specsavers deal.

    • Price/performance is bargain, is it not?

  • +2

Where's the deal? This is just like a FYI -> Forums plz.

  • +1

"its not over inflated like the 20 series, so RRP is a bargain"

    no.

  • This is going to be sold out quickly

  • +1

Reckon we can sell these cards around this price when 4080 comes out in 2 years?

  • +3

    This isn't a deal

  • +3

Come on OP, you can do better than this.

  • Hmmm, purely available for purchase. How long to actually get them though? Article skirts around that.

    • About 30 seconds I expect, assuming the site stays up which is doubtful.

  • +7

This "deal" was posted earlier and immediately taken down, why is this still up?

  • +2

Why every one is hyped this much ? I will wait and see if these cards meet the expectations and what NVIDIA claims. Everyone is waiting for the benchmarks, so wait.

    • +1

Fanboys I suspect. You're spot on tho wait for some benchmarks and possibly Big Navi 2 as AMD traditionally are the better bang for buck

      • +1

Seriously these cards can cost and an arm and a leg.. Especially with this time where people can't offered things due to economical crises.

  • Damn it why did you have to post this. More people to compete with now.

  • Hardware Unbox already has 3080 So we will definitely see reviews once card when live.

    • So does Jay Linus and Gamers Nexus

  • +4

    Not a bargain…

  • +3

    Not a deal.

  • +3

    No Bargain RRP

  • +2

Why aren’t the mods sending this over to the forums? Is this some public service announcement we should all be made aware of?

    • +2

They removed the last one yet are letting this post stand… interesting

  • +6

Will post the new iPhone when it launches, RRP is fine as long as it gets upvotes.

  • -2

Don't mind me just upvoting to annoy those that are salty

    • -3

      MeToo

    • +4

Nice toxicity admitting you're abusing the purpose of upvoting.

      • -1

Same can be said about negging.

        • +3

Negative vote because of personal understanding of a bargain isn't abusing. If others believe it's somehow a bargain it's their right to upvote, not to "annoy those that are salty".

          • -3

            @Dapple:

Negative vote because of personal understanding of a bargain isn't abusing.

I didn't say that. Stop making up stuff.

admitting you're abusing the purpose of upvoting.

Thats what I replied to. The same can be said about negging - the purpose of a neg can be abused.

  • just curious, whats the differneces between FE and other brands production

    • +1

less output and worse cooling usually but you get it sooner

      • how about the price in general? I am using a 1080 atm and I am fine with it so I can wait. I am trying to spend my money wisely so if the upside of FE is only allow me to get it sooner, I think i should wait for other brands to public their cards in this case?

        • +1

AIBs should be anywhere from 50 to 200 more expensive

But this time founders edition comes with a totally different cooling design, the embargo for these lifts on the 16th so you'll have time to make a decision after watching reviews

I also prefer these sort of design then the RGB bullshit

  • Just how many would they have? 10?

  • Oh boy, and you thought people were brave to post 2000 series

  • +8

I must resist and hold on tight, RTX 40 series arriving 2022.

  • +6

Wake me up when it's below RRP.

    • +4

      You'll be sleeping a while

      • the best comment so far haha

        • Reckon within 3-4 months

          • @badonde: Would FE cards even be available in 3 to 4 months? I thought it was a launch production run only. Serious question as I want that fan design

  • +6

    RRP is not a bargain

  • -1

This is a brand new product, with better specs than the 2080 Ti but the same price. It is a bargain.

  • +1

how many frames should i expect at 4k for bfv on ultra everything?

  • -5

    Real benchmarks
    Better than expected

    1) This is RRP not a Bargain
    2) Previous post was removed for lack of details (we still do not know how many MWave will get etc)

  • -4

Bought 1000 to resell. Take my upvote.

    • You didn't even upvote.

      1/10 meme

  • +2

    Normal prices aren't bargains

  • +12

I miss the good old days. China vendor wars. Eneloops for days. Good cashback and sitewides on eBay. We wouldn't have stood for RRP bs back then.

    • +5

Woodworm umbrellas from oo were the highlight…
      Xiaomi battery packs
      CREE nitecore lights

    • +1

I often reminisce about the days when sub-$800 return flights to LAX were popping up constantly. Feels like it was just last year…

  • +3

    RRP prices

  • +1

This will be worse than an eBay or Catch of the day lottery sale. Servers will crash and the (probably) 50 cards they do have will be sold out instantly (or pre-allocated to Mwave friends and family already).

Don't kid yourself. If you score one of these cards it will be a miracle.

    • Assuming you'd even want to settle for the slot cooler design that dumps hot air right into the CPU/RAM area of a system. What a great design! Kinda prefer an AIB card if the price is right.

  • 66 negs for what?

There's plenty other stuff that goes out of stock quickly, gets posted on RRP and never gets downvoted, the Switch for example

    • +2

Chad PC gamers vs virgin Switch players. No comparison.

    • +7

There are towns of spoiled brats on this site that would down vote anything that's not to their liking, and that's about everything, including this comment.

      • +10

Why do you guys upvote a deal that is rrp, how is it a bargain? The value of this site is it highlights bargains if I just want to know the rrp I can look literally anywhere else.

That said, it does seem like there is some inconsistency here, I had always thought rrp posts were banned because at best they are pointless at worst their product announcements. Do we want to go through this crap with AMD cards, with samsung phones, with iphones, posts getting hundreds of upvotes just for telling us that its available? Sorta defeats the value of the site at least imo.

        • +12

To answer your question, bargains can be subjective. While this may be the RRP, the fact that these cards are not only exclusive in very limited quantities but that they are likely to be cheaper than third party ones is considered a bargain to some.

There's also those that don't want such posts here and others that do and it will forever divide the community. Same for Nintendo Switches and other popular things. At the end of the day, there's no detriment to the site but in fact drives more traffic and helps other people who are interested.

I have no interest in the tons of cheap Chinese crap that is posted here daily, Xiaomi and whatnot, many of which are just the regular price, but not complaining about it. It helps some people.

          • @Hybroid: Agreed, particularly with the third paragraph, specially now that China government has imposed tariff, bans etc. on Aussie products

          • +3

@Hybroid: You raise good points that these cards may be considered valuable to some, although that doesn't make it a "bargain", the word you used.

These posts ARE a detriment to the website because it's forumsliding (putting all the valuable information as old by posting new "deals" on the front page to replace it). The "new traffic" is even worse—bringing in new users who expect this website to just be front page RRP advertisements instead of what it is supposed to be—posting bargains or deals.

I've never had a problem with the Xiaomi items because whenever I've looked at it they were marginally cheaper than other competing websites…which I can't say the same for RRP item posts such as these.

And for the record that Nintendo Switch stuff should also be posted on the forum if they're just RRP advertisements…ideally anyway!

            • +3

@h047j9fg9j83p: What about Aldi? Everything they have is RRP.

              • +2

@Clear: I don't know anything about Aldi posts but if it's RRP stuff I don't consider it worthy of being on the front page.

If one wants to view RRP advertisements they can just turn off their adblocker and view the targeted ads on the side of most websites. That's just my opinion, at the end of the day I have no power. Just hoping to spread awareness that posting non-deals is forumsliding.

    • +7

there's a difference, these cards have just been announced and haven't been released, classifying these prices as a bargain is just kissing nvidia's ass.

  • +1

Are the founder edition ones better than the custom ones sold by companies such as Asus/MSI/sapphire/xfx….etc?

What's special about founder editions? I always find the one fan one these cards a turn down for me.

    • You get bragging rights, ima rtx 3080 founder etc

    • They're very limited edition cards so the exclusivity is sought after and subjectively look much better than the third party ones with overstyled designs and RGB. They're likely to be cheaper too and also hold their value much much better.

However, third party cards generally will have better coolers although real world difference is negligible. The RTX30 generation has 2 fans in a different push-pull configuration with beefier heat pipes which will be interesting.

  • Silly question here… will the 3080's be LARGER than a 2070 Super rog STRIX?

Unsure if it'll fit my case!

I've heard FE are the largest?

    • +1

they are beefy cards, dimensions are available on Nvidia site and some AIB's have also shared dimensions of their cards

      • Thank you,
        I’ll do some research :)

  • +18

JobKeeper was extended to allow everyone to buy a 30xx card.

  • +7

retail price = not a bargain.

  • +3

    BS exclusivity

    • +3

      only exclusive "initially"
mate works at another parts retailer and they getting stock mid to late October just not in the initial release

      • Are they getting founders editions in October? Cause if they are I'm happy to wait. Otherwise these dual fans are sweet as.

  • -2

    so much for 799 USD.

    • But the 3080 is?

      US$799 = $AU1097 + GST = $AU1206.70.

So Mwave is selling the 3080 slightly cheaper than expected.

    • +3

Someone doesn't understand exchange rates and import fees.

  • +5

Even if it is a new release, and the FE cards didn't seem like they were coming to AUS…

This is RRP. Not a bargain.

    • +3

And it was posted and discussed in the Forums which is where this belongs

  • +4

This is not a Bargain Post on the forums.

  • +4

Anything that seems like a bargain at RRP is just a sham. You don't have my vote. Sorry.

  • +5

    RRP
    Not a deal.

  • -2

How can this post have 359+ it's not a bargain. Nvidia sheeps can't wait to play with the 3000 Series so they are blinded by the hype and see RRP as a bargain? Is that it?

  • +4

By up voting a product that is RRP and likely to have supply issues; what 'message' are you sending the retailer/wholesaler?

    • +1

      Try and secure more stock?

  • Dont forget to consume product!

    • Can't believe that subreddit got banned

  • Yay! Just enough time to play and win both Oz Lotto and Powerball. Founders Edition (whatever that means really), see you soon. Mwaah!

  • RRP plz remove

  • -2

for everyone that reported the post, I'm betting the response will be something like

yeah this isnt a deal ..
    RRP is not a bargain

wonder if clear will come in ranting we are bulling the OP

  • Hey guys,

I have a AMD 3950x - it's mostly a work machine but I do game on it as well.

Would the 3950x be a bottleneck? i.e. I know it's a kick ass cpu but there's a lot of general sentiment out there you need a intel cpu to really be the best for games.

    i.e. would I get much benefit on my system from getting a 3090 vs a 3080. I don't mind buying the 3090 as a 5 year purchase.

    cheers

    Gav

    • +1

That’s a monster of a CPU! In real-world gaming performance, you’d be unlikely to see a difference of more that 5 fps from any Core i9 Intel (while significantly outperforming them in multi-core applications for your work purposes).

Also, keep in mind that in 5 years, a mid-range GPU will offer similar performance to a 3090, at a fraction of the cost. And we don’t know about Big Navi yet either - AMD is confident it will compete at 4K this generation.

Once Big Navi is out, Nvidia will release full-memory variants of the 3070 and 3080 (with 16GB and 20GB), which will have above RRP price points. Meanwhile, they’re driving demand through these loss-leader Founders Edition cards with artificially scarce stock quantities.

Nvidia and Intel are both masters of winning mindshare, and keeping their profit margins high, while surreptitiously being anti-consumer.

      • Am I wrong in saying that the new cards will bypass the CPU entirely? Wasn't that in Nvidia's press video or did I miss read/hear that part.
