Mod 13/9 (copy paste of the report reply): For those reporting that RRP should be in the forum or similar, there is no such guideline. As always the community will decide if it's a good deal or not via the voting system and/or comments. In general, a deal can be good value or of interest without being discounted as such, whilst a deal can be discounted but still be of little interest or poor value. In any case it's up to members to decide. In relation to potential issues about the deal details, should the deal not go ahead as posted, or another issue that breaches guidelines, it will be removed at that time. Please use TWAM for other issues and keep comments respectful. Thanks

Mod 2 15/9: Mwave has now announced there will be a raffle to purchase (that's a new one). The main deal link has been updated and the deal post moved to forums. Please join the raffle should you be interested in purchasing and continue discussion in the comments below.

For goods with a value of AUD1000 or less, there are generally no duties, taxes or charges to pay at the border.
        https://www.abf.gov.au/buying-online/buying-online.
You should be fine if you purchase the Zotac Trinity/Gigabyte Eagle variants via the pay yourself option at the checkout.
Otherwise yeah, you will have to pay an extra 10%.

Personally I recommend getting a mailing address via a mailing service in the states. That can heavily save on GST costs

      • +3

I just checked the site. They add 10% duties and taxes - to the whole price even under $1000.

So the above prices are 10% higher than Yve quoted.

A 2070 Super is 529.99 USD. It's 33.01 in shipping and 56.39 in duties and taxes.

PayPal (and pretty much everyone else) also has a conversion fee, PayPal's is 2.5%

So the Zotac Trinity actually comes out to:
        ~1025 + 42 + 107 = 1173

        • +1

Yep. so essentially with FTA (Free Trade Agreement) we shouldn't be paying import duty, but we still pay GST on item + shipping.

Found that out when I imported my 3D printer.. and fought for clarification on import prices on my CNC (FedEx charged the company $2000 USD shipping.. not $399 as I'd paid) as GST came out 2x projected cost.

None of those cards have warranty… They are international cards.

      • Check the AIB partners, Gigabyte and Asus offer global warranty on their cards.
Zotac however does not have global warranty.

        • So consumer affairs will agree to assist with Asus international refunds, wow.

          Why haven't you bought any.

      • +1

EVGA has international warranty - my last 1070 was an EVGA BHP Photo OzB deal. It had a problem with fan whine, and I had it RMA'd direct with their Taiwan HQ.

    • They have been pulled from the website now. Think they jumped the gun.

  • +4

    Is this RRPBargain now?

    • Based on the reasons for the dozens of negs in all the RTX 2000 series deals… yes it is.

  • +2

    "Good luck grabbing one fellas!"

A bit less luck now, cheers for posting.

  • +2

    That is so infuriating.

    https://www.kotaku.com.au/2020/09/rtx-3080-rtx-3090-founders…

Because of that I'm definitely waiting for amd's announcement, Nvidia lost some respect (no idea why mwave) but segmenting their customer base with the temporary finger really doesn't fit well with me.

I was so ready and pumped to preorder the 3090, but now since Xbox Series X and Amd just around the corner, it could be a interesting year.

I would love to know apart from (limited stock, issues stocking it, limited numbers,) why Nvidia shafted their customers to begin with.

It's really distasteful to send one message and then give the finger, and retract the finger silently.

To give Nvidia the temporary finger I'll hold out for the AIB edition over the Fe edition for now, the question is how much will there be of a difference in AIB prices compared to 2020 Fe.

    • +1

I would be interested to know why you would bother with the Xbox Series X if you are getting a 3090? Literally everything you can play on that particular console you can also get on PC day one.

      • Was interested,

The 3090 for 3d animation, and rtx enabled features, and write cuda code, write up some machine learning stuff on those tensor cores.

Then sell it once it's served its purpose.

Oh in regards to the series X, well because EB games have offered a great deal for those who trade Xbox one X in.

Series X $399 can't say no to that offer.

  • I wonder how long before there's deals below RRP on 30 series?

  • +5

    RRP :(

  • -1

Thanks OP the 3090 will be perfect for me.

  • Looks like Ozbargain is going to be OzRRP for a while with 3000 series.

    • It'll be ozrrp plus $200

There's next to none coming in the country.

    • But RRP is okay according to all the negs in the RTX 2000 series deals.

  • I’m curious why people with 2080 S and Ti are selling off their cards and so hyped about launch day availability. As big as the leap in the performance is, surely it doesn’t mean 2080 S and Ti stopped performing.

I have 5700 XT and looking forward to the 3070 benchmarks and hopefully some deals. Just like 10th gen CPUs, once the FOMO is over, we will see prices return to normal.

  • +2

This is exactly what we don't need on this site. Rrp announcements

  • +2

I don’t know why everyone is complaining, the Animal Crossing switch is posted multiple time at RRP but does not get a single downvote, isnt this the same thing?

    • -1

      That game is out

      • +3

I’m talking about the console mate

        • -8

          Well, that's a thing.

This isn't yet. Preorders aren't allowed either.

    • A dozen Nintendo deals have hit the front page in the last week, and only 2 were actual bargains, the two price mistakes that lasted 30mins on amazon (Mario all stars 3D for $61).
This doesn’t seem much different honestly

  • -5

Over $1000 for a video card? lol.

    • -5

The 3080 is two 2080ti on one board.

So is it a bargain now

Your welcome to buy the 2080ti for $1000

      • wait what, it's like 25% better than the 2080 ti

        https://www.notebookcheck.net/NVIDIA-GeForce-RTX-3080-hits-t…

        • it simply amazed me how many ppl think 2x cuda cores = 2x performance, by blindly comparing no. of cuda cores on 2 different architectures

some even go so far to ignore the benchmark and claim future games/drivers will 2x the performance

          • @dcep: Any reference you refer to is fake, until the 18th and 24th.

            • @[Deactivated]: lol.. why edit your post , clown ?

you claimed 2x RTX performance and call me clown , but found out too far fetched to believe your own's claim , hence edit your post?

      • +1

Still, as I said, $1000+ for a video card??

        • that's a fair price I think, not too expensive and not too cheap

          • @ln28909: It's astronomical.

            • @AussieZed: a typical build that run this card would be starting from ~$1.5k for all the other parts, so $1k is justified

think this, I just bought some psu cable extensions (yeah not the psu, just cables) for $150, now that's expensive

so comparatively, this is really cheap if you were to compare it with those cables

              • @ln28909: I'm looking at this card and just my CPU + Mobo alone come in at $1500.. so why would $1000 be astronomical for a GPU?

It's not like an $800 console on launch. at least the PC can be used for a myriad of other duties.

                • @Revrnd: Yeah I agree this is a fair price , definitely not astronomical

            • @AussieZed: Yeah but gaming with high frames on a high resolution monitor is not required for everyone. If you don't have those requirements, then you can pick up any lesser card within your price range.

        • +2

people baulk at this but are fine spending $250 at a bar every weekend?

          • @Freestyle: Nobody in Melbourne is going to be spending anything at a bar for a long long time.

          • +2

@Freestyle: Or people that aren't really into tech buying $1500 phones, but thinking gaming PCs are expensive.

It's like, the gaming PC does something quite amazing, what do most people do with a $1500 phone that a $400 phone doesn't do? (Take better insta selfies, is perhaps the biggest difference).

          • +1

@Freestyle: or spending around $100 a week on smokes or something. At least at the end of the day you've got something that'll be useful for the next few years playing games at either 4K or 1440P with everything turned on max, and come time to upgrade, still has residual value.

  • -3

    thanks OP bought 10 !

  • It's just the set release price.

  • +1

very cool, OP. u can take down the post now.

  • +1

This is not a bargain, its rrp.

  • +5

Since when a RRP becomes a bargain? This is more of a news thread.

  • +2

Will laugh my ass off if Mwave sells it somehow for a higher price when they start Selling the FE edition cards…

Good to hear the cards are coming to Aus but this also really isn't a bargain :)

    • -2

Depends, if Nvidia is selling it, bases on the conversation fee's, and tax sure.

But if mwaves selling a Nvidia product absolutely not, imagine if mwave sold ps5 or series X, would they sell it for the same price most likely not.

  • +1

In today's episode of Oz Full Price…

  • Ignore the price for a moment…

Do we know if FE are better or worse compared to other 3rd party variants?

    • +1

Not yet, but they certainly look better

      • The new fan design would seem to help, it's almost half just fins

    • Nope not yet

Thicker AIB cards would still likely be better and clock marginally higher.

    • +2

Third party triple fan coolers are almost always slightly better but more expensive and nowhere near as clean-looking, special or exclusive.

Real world difference is negligible and depends on the rest of your setup airflow.

  • -2

$699 US +10% = 1055 AUS . Not really a bargain and it is RRP.

    • Different market, it's like comparing USD to bitcoin different planet.

  • I suspect these will be in incredibly short supply, as they're essentially bait to prime the market with free marketing.

  • Not guaranteed they'll do it but what's the likely hood of mwave pulling a dick move, like they and others did with the RTX Titan?

    IE "Not for Individual Sale.

Must be purchased with a system built by mwave or purchased with a full PC parts list."

    • I've heard people suggesting some online stores may get 2 cards. Yes. 2.

    • Problem is if they do that, by the time you've read that message, everywhere else is sold out

  • -4

A lot of posters here are missing the point.

Getting RRP in Australia IS A BARGAIN in itself.

  • -1

Posting RRP is not deal !!!!!!!!!

Are they giving a laptop or PC as well buying a 3090?!!?….lool

    • -1

It might be a deal once the mining retards start buying up stock and driving prices up

  • Is the 3080 significantly faster than a 1650 Super?

    • +1

it is about 3 times faster according to the leaked benchmark

    • +2

not even sure if kidding.. like.. many many times better.

  • +1

No bargain listed. Price is RRP. Forum post at best.

  • -2

Wow! I never knew how many geeks there was on this site!

    • Gaming is geeky now? Have you not noticed the interest on game deals here?

      • +1

Lol Carl is probably from my era… Back in the day anything tech was geeky especially gaming on PC's….

    • Were

      Geeks like details

      Details are important

    • without geeks you guys would be even more fcked during covid

      • Lol… So true

  • +4

RRP and more importantly, independent reviews are not out. Therefore I consider this closer to a hype post than a bargain.

    • +2

Not sure if this belongs in the forums but here it is anyway.

But let's post first as a deal anyway. ;)

  • Damn, I was really hoping I could spend more than two and a half grand on a video card this year. Big Navi you're my only hope.

    • +1

No problem. You can SLI RTX 3090s.

      • -1

        SLI, what is this 2013?

  • +3

forum post. RRP is not a deal

  • +4

I love how divided OzBargain is on this post >:D

  • -3

    Not a bargain

The ones saying it's not a bargain are downvoted. This is (profanity) disgusting.

    friggen nvidia worshippers

what is this, tom's hardware? "Just buy it"?

    • At least this time the ray tracing is actually worth getting now

  • +7

Comments on this post got me like.

Seriously though, I bet half of those negging think the 3080 is a steal for this price (i.e. a deal) and are just mad that OP has slightly reduced their odds of getting one by sharing this deal. Totally against the spirit of OzBargain IMO.

    • +2

People are negging it because this is basically RRP. Are we now allowing RRPs to be posted for hyped up products? What's next? Every AIB cards for RTX3070/3080/3090s at RRPs can be posted as bargains?

And the thought of majority of people neg voting this fear losing out on this? Please… don't get so hyped up and get sucked in by all the marketing pitch and the huge % increase over last gen.

Honestly, if I really want it, I will ask a relative in the USA to buy it from a state without state tax and DHL/Fedex the card to me. It will be cheaper than this. Heck, if for some reason, this shinny new toy is a must, maybe just buy from USA and use a forwarder.

I reckon nVidia should try to sell as many cards as possible quickly. This will give both AMD and the two consoles a tougher time. RDNA2 will be quite competitive and if performance is slightly behind, AMD will price their cards down.

      • +3

        RRPs are regularly posted

Or is Switch somehow a special device? Or how about those Air Fryers that were posted at RRP a few months ago?

        There's plenty other examples

  • Stuart from design by IRF reckon we are getting about 100 cards in total.

Will try and get one and see how we go.

  • Just checked Chinese Tiktok, the cheapest Galax 3080 would be around 5200,which is 1040 aud,but the stock is very limited.

    • +2

      They sell gpu on tiktok?

      • they sell everything on tiktok in China, you have no idea xD
        It's like the new Taobao

      • +1

yea it's crazy on there, "influencers" work with companies and negotiate really good prices, for tens of thousands of viewers at any one time in the livestream

        • Influencers? Even 13 year old girls lip syncing are making money online now??

          • @michaelTito: Chinese tiktok aka Douyin, is completely different. The userbase age range spans from young teens to elderly people. Most of the successful tiktokkers have a whole film crew to create and edit videos. It's more competitive and harder to create compelling videos to gain popularity. These influencers can be anywhere from 18 to 40+. The short videos you see on there range from talents showcase to product reviews, to cooking to workout routines. It's really different compared to international tiktok.. almost impossible for douyin algorithms to recommend 13yo lip syncing

      • Yeah livestream selling in China is like the new late-night informercial.

    • Plus GST?

I expect USA pricing to be cheaper but it is a good ballpark
