Now this is a new strategy to offload some hardware that's been rendered nearly pointless to buy

    • +10

And what is pointless about a $484 RTX 2070 super?

      • -1

a used one for that price, nothing at all! best price new is $699 (the same price as the 5700XT @PCBYTE)
        https://www.pcbyte.com.au/store/product/galax-nvidia-geforce…

        • +5

I wonder if they're implying you could resell two 8GB 3200MHz sticks for $165.

          • +1

@flopsy: The original post had the $165 EK AIO included with the RTX 2070 Super, which is why I was saying the GPU would work out to $484. It's since been changed.

  • Theres the 2080ti for 1k with RAM or PC case or EK AIO as well. that also makes it near 3070 but not price jacked to 1k with nothing.

    3070 - 1k

    3080 1.5k

    3090 - 2.5k-3k

    • +4

There will be a lot of perks I think, to a 3070, I understand that ray tracing doesn't cripple your frame rate like the 20xx series does.

      • +2

ray tracing improvement is the only reason im holding for a 3070 rather than going to value town for a 2080

      • +2

Yeah Ive heard of the price getting jacked for NON FE… I can say that I actually can wait because my 2080super is still here 15/09/19 :). I can just gift it away later when I get a 3080 FOR THE ACTUAL NORMAL PRICE. LIKE DAM BOI.

      • The positive for 2xxx owners is that Games with DLSS don’t cripple frame rates. But needs to become more mainstream

    • +2

Could always wait until next year and have your pick of the 3070 or AMD alternative

    • -5

      3070 gonna be $2k I heard

      • That's strange, announcement is $700.

      • +1

        wtf u on about :)

      • +4

Heard from someone selling a 2080?

        • Just now can see a gigabyte 2080 super for 730 on ebay - better be quick. 1080 ti owner man, i don't need a turing.

          • @Budju: 1080ti hi five.

            I'll upgrade when it's time.

I do not yet believe it's time.

Perhaps the 30xx refresh depending on price.

          • @Budju: Thanks for the heads up!

  • +1

If it was the b die variety this would almost be reasonable

  • +12

Prev gen GPU deals are starting to get interesting. Sub $450 and i might be tempted into buying

  • How come I can't see some of the options?

    • The RTX2060, 2070 and 2080 cards each have their own subset of options, not necessarily what nocure has posted above. The premium options (e.g. stuff in the mid-$100's) is only bundled with the 2080 series cards.

    • Description updated.

  • +1

    Worth buying?

$899: Gigabyte GeForce RTX 2080 SUPER WINDFORCE OC 8G, plus a bonus gift (e.g. the Ekwb EK-AIO 240 worth $165).

Altogether $926 shipped for me and I have the original 28 Degrees 12 months price protection insurance. My main concern is if the Gigabyte RTX2080 becomes discontinued or goes out of stock everywhere, I can't price protect it anymore.

Not sure whether to go for this for now, or continue waiting for a 3070 and use the 28 degrees price protection on that instead.

    • +7

      Nope.

    • +2

How much do you pay for price protection? Interesting feature…

      • +2

It's 0.5% of the closing balance each month. But potentially $0 if you pay off the balance in full before the statement is generated (meaning you pay about three weeks earlier than usual).

        • +2

Not available unless you already have it.

          • @Nalar: Good to know - I hear a lot about it - but your comment saves me from applying.

        • How much of a price drop are you hoping for?

    • +4

      If you're willing to pay that much I would recommend spending another $100 for the open box 2080 Ti below;

      https://www.shoppingexpress.com.au/buy/open-box-sale-gigabyt…

I'm unsure if you get the extra item as a gift, but spending $100 more for the 2080 Ti is worth it.

    • unless its 2080ti. no. i would say just holdon another month

    • Wouldn't buy a non TI for above 800

    • There is also an open box Galax 2080S for $749… but no bonus item though

      very tempting…

      • Are you sure it comes with bonus items? I haven't found any open box listings that do.

        • Yeah just realised that. Apologies.

But yeah ever so close to getting a 2070 super regardless.

      • Buy second hand got a 2080s for 450

  • +2

There (was an) error in your list nocure, the Freebies list you provided is for the RTX 2080. the RTX 2070 Super has a completely different list of freebies

  • Buy one get one free?

  • +1

Wahhh … I just bought the NZXT 510 case and need a graphics card … this would have been the perfect combo for me. 1 day too late. But there will be more deals on 20xx cards.

  • Looks like they're handing these first gen RTX cards out like candy

  • +2

    Waiiiiiiiiiittttttt

  • Can't believe I bought one for $100 more 2 months ago.

    • +7

Well at least you're in better shape than the people that sold the 2000 in preparation for the 3000 cause there's none for them to buy

      • I can't agree more.

      • +1

Can just use a cheap card in the meantime. 20xx cards will keep dropping so still best to sell if you don't mind waiting a little.

        • But is it worth to use some crappy card for a few hundreds?

        • I still don't get how people do this.

Just don't game for a few months leading up to Christmas game release period?

To get an extra couple hundred bucks over 2-3 months?

          Nodeal(TM).

  • +4

Umart has the Galax RTX 2070 Super listed at $599. I believe it's the same product you have listed above?

    https://www.umart.com.au/Galax-GeForce-RTX-2070-Super-Click-…

    • +2

Does it come with a "free gift" though?

  • +4

I think it's better to buy into a second hand 1080/1080ti for the next 6-7 months until the launch frenzy and more importantly prices settle down. Might lose $100 when you sell and then upgrade to 3070.

    • You will be paying more waiting, a mix of clever marketing and consumer stupidity will see history repeat.

    • +1

No way all those cards have probably been mined their entire life

Buy a 2070super for $500 is the best imo

      • +1

Not every 1080ti owner mines their cards….

You're one of those "scared people"

      • +1

Not sure your fears are warranted…for a lot of those miners the boom came and went, maybe they mined for 3 months before coin prices tanked. Those cards were sold of ages ago. Even if you do get a miner card, miners would under volt their cards so they stayed cool and stable. Non-issue in my opinion.

        • Just saying don't cheap out and buying like 3 year old card to save. $100

You may get a good one but man, you're a gambler my friend

          • +1

@ln28909: Im gaming on my 1080 ti - 2k - 144 frames ez on most games…no way I need an upgrade, so I will wait for prices to settle and settle they will if AMD has a winner this time….I see no other reason Nvidia droped their prices so much….they just made everyone that got 2080ti a fool….and those idiots will still take it and buy more, what more can you say

            • @botchie: I'm not saying the 1080 is bad, Im just saying it's a big risk buying them used

        • +4

Ex miner here. It’s true, I and most others would undervolt to keep power consumption down. 1080s were never that popular tho, the price/performance/power mix wasn’t worth investment for dedicated mining.

    • Just bought 1080 for $280. Couldn't resist.

  • Which GPU can run Dota2 at 4k@60Hz?

    • 1650s

  • +2

Unless you desperately need a new machine or new GPU right now I think it'd be crazy to buy now.

    • Price protection!

  • +1

I'm waiting for a good deal on an Asus rog strix. I can tell you they're all pretty great and worth paying extra. Cooling is always overspecked so you can hardly hear it. Must also be good for longevity. 2070 or whatever comes along.

  • +1

What are your opinions on the EVGA GeForce RTX 2060 KO ULTRA GAMING 6GB for $469 (including a CPU cooler which would be handy for me anyway)?

It would be a stop-gap for say, 6 months, until 3070/3080 stocks and prices stabilise.

This appears to be the lowest price locally - all $550 in stores near me.

  • Slowly 2060S/2070S prices are going down.. getting more tempting by the day.

  • +1

They are selling the G.Skill Flare X for $89 so the RTX 2070 Super is actually $560. I might bite if they sell the card for under $500 by itself.

    • Buy it then price protection

  • +1

Slight update: The Galax 2070 Super LED version is $639. Only $10 cheaper but…

    https://www.shoppingexpress.com.au/buy/galax-geforce-rtx-207…

  • I'd just make a note that the Gskill Flare 16 GB (8Gbx2) kit that I bought from shopping express on 29/08 for the same price is DOA. I've submitted an RMA.

  • -1

When did all the RTX 20XX downvotes stop?

  • Yeah great deal… if it was about a month ago. I just bought an RX5700XT in August… this would have been a really good deal back than…

Still I struggle with all the new high-end cards which are all 2.3+ in PCIE SLOT width, and my motherboard (ASROCK B450M Steel Legend) has a 10Gb ethernet card in the lower PCI slot, which only leaves space for a max 2 slot width PCIE card (or about 40-44mm). I bought the Powercolor Red Dragon, and it fits and works beautifully…

But the new offerings from NVIDIA are a worthwhile proposition…

  • +1

Does anyone have the Galax 2070 Super EX Gamer?

I was wondering if it is possible to control the RGB light on the front (hate purple or flashing lights) … either off or just plain white is fine. There is not much info around this card on the net. Good reviews for Galax (mainly Malaysia) but not much info in english. Also interested in the noise level.

    https://www.shoppingexpress.com.au/buy/galax-geforce-rtx-207…

    • Looking forward to know more info about the noise level with this card as well.
