MSI GE620 $899 i7-2630QM, 15.6" Full HD Screen, GT540M, USB3.0, Gigabit, 7.1SS, W7HP, BT 2YR Warranty,

260

Awesome specs for an awesome price I must say. You cannot find a notebook with FullHD paired with a decent GTX540M GPU and second generation quad i7 not to mention 7.1Channel surround sound!! for $899.

Bargain of the year I think.

  • Not a bad deal. What's the speed of the HDD? Shipping is $24 for me to Adelaide.

    • 7200RPM

I wasn't going to put this bargain up myself as other companies seem to sell them for around the same price anyway.
The only benefit of this laptop over a few others is that it has a Full HD screen. Pretty awesome for a sub $1000 laptop imo.

That Full HD screen resolution to me really sets this one apart from the rest. I don't think I have seen that on any sub-$1000 laptops before this.

      • Agreed. A lot of bargains around for non-full HD screens but this screen sets this one apart.

    • True.

Penta Group is selling it for $898 with 16.99 shipping in NSW and you can pick up from store.

Not a bad deal though. Nice fine Hirokuro

  • Pity the Graphics is only GT540M.

    • i was gonna say, it's not GTX, it's a GT…not sure if it makes a big difference….

      • There is a ginormous difference between the two. The GTX's are the top of the line, some of the fastest laptop cards you can get. they take a huge amount of power and create a lot of heat. The GT's are a lot slower, cheaper and cooler - perfect for a medium sized laptop. Thats why you'll have a hard time finding the GTX's in anything other than large gaming laptops with nice big fans.

  • looks good was looking for a laptop with full hd screen

  • whats the quality of MSI notebooks and where are they made in? Also do they have any heating problems?

    • MicroStarInternational is a taiwanese brand like ASUS and Acer. Like most companies such as lenovo - most of there stuff is made in Shenzhen, China. Build quality wise is as good as any other brand :) Cant say anything about if it has heating problems as heating problems are usually model specific and not often associated to a brand in general.

This is indeed the deal of the year, especially with laptop prices expected to go up due to the hard disk prices.

You can turn down the resolution for gaming, but for anything else, the high resolution is awesome, 1366x768 resolutions are terrible for anything.

    • What is this hard disk price increase you talk about?

      edit: Oh right… the floods.

      • -4

The flooding in Taiwan will cause the price to surge.

        • +2

MSI is a taiwanese brand, but the floods scynaz is talking about is floods in THAILAND :)

        • -4

          Thai's, Tai's, same thing right? =P

  • There's been many good reviews on this laptop but this one is particularly interesting - it talks about the heat/ noise issues…

  • If it weren't for the slow 1gb DDR3 graphics card this would be one of the best deals of the year.

  • Fantastic deal, great for those who want the higher screen resolution with a reasonable(ish) video card. If I didn't just settle with a ThinkPad, I'd have seriously considered this one.
