  • So what phone can you choose?

  • +2

can confirm JB telco department are doing this too. no need to go in store, just call their sales number. confirmed $594 ETC

    • You mean they are doing $800 gift card for $99 plan?

    • Thanks, just took advantage of the offer using the phone number you listed!

      • Are you going to cancel it or use it for a year?

        • Use it for a year, needed a new plan anyway!

  • +1

Are they doing anything for the $69? Jb recently have $500 gc for $69 and i missed it!

    • Keen to know this as well. I’m holding out for a JB $69 deal that’s better than the $300 GC advertised. $500 GC from the weekend was sweet, but maybe more? 😂

      • +2

If you call JB on 135244 they currently offer $500 credit for the $69 plan :) just signed up today myself

        • +2

Ha! I’m just doing it now in store 😂 thought I’d walk by and check on the way home. Checking OzB while he’s signing me up

          • +1

            @WildWarrior: Same, just signed up.

No luck yesterday but sales assistant was glad I came back today because apparently they got notified late yesterday of the $500/$69 offer.

        • Can you signup over the phone?

        • Thanks for sharing. Anyone know how strict JB are about the 30 day minimum quarantine period? I churned from Telstra to Vodafone yesterday and would like to sign-up for this plan…

  • Does it include any international calling or can you add the $10 international calling add-on to this plan?

  • I saw on a similar deal posted that people are avoiding changing plans/ providers due to credit checks, is having several credit checks a negative or something??

    • Mainly banks see CC as a negative, if you want a car loan and it shows you have been declined, it red flags you. May need to show more proof of how you spend your money and such

    • Never had any problems with credit checks when signing up a phone plan although just got a decline for a credit card.

      • Yes, when a bank does a check on you for a credit card, it doesn't look great if you have many recent enquires for credit (including mobile phone plans)

    • Unless its happening every 1-2 months, then there's no issue.

  • Can we add international call package to these plan now?

    • Yes, $10 add on.

      • The Information Summary says for international calls, it's PAYG. Is $10 addon available?

  • How long could this deal last for at both JB and TGG?

    • +1

One week the JB guy said over the phone

  • Does anyone know the expiry date of this deal?

    • +1

Yes, all the people that know how to read english.

      • My mistake, you could zoom in on the image shared in the original post. 31-12-2020

        • Wrong, those are the terms for the normal $500 gift card not the $800 offer as the “$800” sticker was just slapped onto the page with the terms for the $500 offer.

    • I just called a store and they said ends 30th.

  • -3

Haha I pay only $5 per month for the same amount of data.

    • Most of us aren't talking data for this deal

    • This is a sim only phone plan yours is a broadband plan. 2 different things.

    • How do you get 150Gb for $5?

      Possibly $15 for 120Gb!

      • +1

more details on any of these plans please and how we get them?

  • Can anyone confirm 5g is available on this TGG plan?

No 5g support on the JB plans.

  • -2

    $99 plan includes phone?

    • +2

Afraid not, only an $800 gift card.

If only there was a way to convert a gift card to a phone…

  • I would like to see people who use 150GB per month

    • Actually I have one in my 4G router and use around 190GB per month

  • Has anyone connected this kind of phone sim to their home router via a mobile internet device, e.g a netgear nighthawk? Or can anyone recommend a good modem with built in SIM card? Thinking of replacing my home broadband with this. Cheers

    • Yeah shouldn't be any issue connecting to nighthawk or any mobile broadband router. Afterall, its a sim card that comes with phone and data.

    • +1

I do this now. I finished up my home internet and walked over to this.

Zero cons unless you are an fps gamer the ping can sometimes be trash.

I picked up a cheap huawei b818 modem for 50$ and get anywhere between 150-400 megabits per second dl. (I am in North Adelaide though)

The modem is only 4g but is rated upto 1.6 gigabit per second.

Basically it's way way faster than nbn, and if I want I can take the modem or sim with me anywhere on holidays.

Never going back to a wired connection.

      • Last time a Telstra sales said Telstra mobile sim only plan, I can't insert it into 4G modem, they will band the device. Can I ask how long you have been using this Telstra mobile sim + 4G modem? And do you know whether no excess data charges for JB HIFI telstra plan?

        • +1

I have been using it like this since the last deal. So maybe 2 months?

No excess data charges, just slows down a lot.

          • @smpantsonfire: Thanks mate, I may go to sign up a plan for my mother then quit NBN, she only watch YouTube and website, less than 100G/month :-)

    • In the CIS it says this:

Allowances: For personal use in a smartphone only. Fair Play Policy applies

  • Went to my local JB Hi-Fi store. They have two deals: one is $600 gift card that can be used for anything in a store, another is $800 gift card which has to be used for an iPhone. Both with the $99 per month plan.

However, I was told that the $800 gift card has to be used only for the current iPhone lineup, it won’t work for any future iPhones. The explanation was that when they issue a gift card they apply a list of SKUs to it and since iPhone 12 is not released yet they can’t mark it as eligible for a purchase.

Maybe the guy who told me that got something wrong but hey be careful guys.

    • iPhone SE2 is a good choice compared to 11 at the current time point

    • I've just signed up and she told me can be used on anything. i did this over the phone.

      • JB or Good Guys?

      • how does porting work over the phone? are they going to send you a telstra sim?

    • Thanks for the clarification!

Still conflicts with what some people have been told over the phone. I wonder how they can 'attach' SKU's to a gift card?

    • In store JB has their own deals, JB national sales over the phone has global gift card

    • +1

I confirmed with rep this morning that the $800 Gift card can be used for anything.

    • Sounds like they’re spinning you a line, NEVER heard of SKUs applied to GCs. Guess there’s a first time for everything.

  • I can confirm that JB are matching. Signed up this morning.

    • Over the phone?

      • Yes

  • Jb Chermside staff told me it's only $700 and $800 to purchase an iPhone for $99 plan just now.

    • if you do it over the phone, its for anything. i think the store reps have other agendas trying to get you to buy iphones before iphone 12

      • Is it easy to carry out the porting over the phone? How long does it take you to get everything sorted? Also, do they send you like a virtual gift card or you have to collect it in-store?

        • It's really easy I just did it all in 20 minutes.

I think virtual after SIM activation

      • How do you get GC over phone? Online or go in store

  • What post code did you guys enter when you call 135 244? I did “2000” and the person did not have this deal

    • i put my local sydney postcode and the girl on the phone was from WA. JB contact centre apparantly

  • ive done three new optus contracts in the last few months, 2 ipads and 1 home internet. I am worried I should not try this for credit checks as mentioned.

  • use it to get Samsung S20 FE 5G preorder with free Ears Bud Live :)

    • Are you gonna cancel the contract?

  • Would the best thing to do be sign up, use for 6 months then cancel? Since you're paying the ETC anyway, might as well make use of the service plus get the $206 value?

    • +1

i thought ETC will be charged when you cancel after 6 months too. so basically you would have paid monthly $99 for 6 months and then when you cancel after 6 months you'll still pay $594 ETC

      • +1

ETC will be reduced but best value to leave straight away

        • +1

yep, signed, preordered S20 FE 5G with Bonus Earbuds Live ($319 RRP) by paying $345 then cancelled plan by porting number to other provider on a prepaid sim straight away.
ended up getting S20 FE 5G + Earbuds Live for $594+$345=$939 :). If sell earbuds for $150 then phone would cost just a bit under $800 which is a rip for Snap 865 and 120Hz screen

    • Noooo

  • -1

Are existing telstra accounts ok to sign up with?

  • Stupid question:

If I port in from optus and then immediately cancel, what happens to my phone number?

Do I need to sign up, immediately port back out and then cancel?

Or if planning to cancel better to just sign up with fresh phone number and cancel?

  • I can not port and don't want to , Any issue buying a new sim(phone no ) and then cancel it next day ?

    • +1

I'd like to know this to. Don't want to port my current Optus number.

    • A long as it’s not from Telstra, boost or belong

  • thanks! my wife and i both signed up, 2 * $800 GC = waiting for new ipad air 4

  • jb hifi in darlinghurst have $700 GC promo ends on 30 september.
