  • Hard to believe there isn't a cap on the 10%

    • +4

There is no cap on the cashback. The bonus is capped at one per ShopBack user.

      • Thanks for confirming.

      • Can you clarify what you mean? One transaction? It potentially makes a big difference if someone buys something this morning and then returns later to buy something else.

Edit: I notice it now says the highest transaction amount of the day. Or maybe it always did 😊

        • +2

Cashrewards are offering 15% on multiple transactions, but it's capped at $25 per account.

      • The app was screwy. First attempt today it hung. Thankfully the item didn't "purchase"

Second attempt I clicked buy it now. However instead of going to payment it booted me to the main page. The purchase registered. I then had to go to my ebay and click pay now to pay.

        Will it track?

      • -1

Why is the title unlimited txns if there is only one allowed per user?

      • Still hasn't tracked.

  • +6

If it wasn’t for ShopBack, I would’ve been missing out on all these emails for free online casino credit and beautiful woman wanting to hook up.

    Thanks ShopBack

    • What's that got to do with shopback? I've been with them. Since day 1, junk mail hasn't changed.

    • I keep receiving the same emails but not sure of where it's coming from.

    • Plot twist - scammer cross matches your email from other data leak and send you relevant spam. Damn those uber trips to the clubs!

    • Lucky you. I'm getting Netflix cancellations and Paypal payment emails. It's just a matter of time before I let down my guard and accidentally open one of the links.

      • Yeah my Amazon account has been closed, dammit.

    Is your identity worth $2?

    • +11

My identity isn't even worth $1.

      • +1

        I'll pay you $3

        • +1

          Is this item still available?

10c and I'll be at your door in 20 minutes and I'll give you good feedback for your seller profile, cash on pickup. Take it or leave it.

  • +1

So using giftcards is still eligible?

  • Still waiting for the $10 bonus that never turned up for spend at First Choice

  • +5

Not sure if I trust them anymore :-( I participated in one of their 'challenges' only for the cashback not to track and their rep to tell me it was my fault for clicking something else. Yet the purchase was made through their app so there was no-where else to click. Pretty bummed because I wouldn't have made the purchase without the incentive of $10 back.

    • +2

Sometimes their first response is a cookie cutter. Going at them again usually works.

When I stop receiving spam text messages maybe I'll consider it… NOT
    (profanity) shopback!

  • eBay: $2 Bonus Leaks ($2 Spend)

  • +4

Interesting. Non cap cash back is a bold move… EBay seller's fee is capped at $440 and seller's fee is 2.6% for PayPal. In case someone buys something worth $10,000, the fee is only (?) $700. Will they really pay out $1,000 in cash back?
For a $100,000 purchase they'll lose near $7k if they honour it.

    • +2

What can you buy for over $100k?

    • +1

Seriously you would have big balls to trust them with 3 figures let alone 6 figures !

    • +4

There is a simple solution. Cashback will "mysteriously" not get tracked.

  • +1

Is the $20 instant voucher considered a coupon from this ebay plus trial?

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/567358

    • +1

Yes, considered a coupon - will make Cashback ineligible, will track as "Calculating"

  • +1

So I just made my first purchase via shopback. How long does it usually take to show up on my account?

  • +1

Cars are excluded, what about car parts, like battery or wiper blades?

    • I think it's based on category. If it's listed under cars on eBay (Which mostly likely won't be) it's counted

  • +1

Mobile App and Desktop browser purchase is fine ? Or only desktop browser is valid ?

    • +1

Seriously.. can we use the app? It doesn't say we can't use the app and it doesn't say desktop only. But it does say "eBay.com.au" - does that mean desktop, or Australian eBay…?

Several scammers on ebay are clearly taking advantage with fake Nintendo Switch listings:

Purchased and it tracked at 1%. Item was not part of exclusions.

    • You can message them they will fix it up. Customer service is not fast but efficient every time I used them.

edit: thanks to the muppet for negging my honest opinion and tips on how to increase the chances of obtaining the cashback. How about this? Instead of hiding behind a neg, maybe just post a reply with your reason and thoughts instead?

    • +2

Did you purchase from eBay prior to today? Tracking for today's purchases would come through tomorrow the soonest, but certainly not on the same day. And if you purchased something excluded from cashback (or used a coupon code), you'd get 0%.

      • You are correct, it was another purchase that happened to workout to be the same amount. Noticed the dates, it came about 1 hour after so I assumed it was the same.

        • Thanks for confirming. I see where you're coming from with the dates - happy to send feedback to the team as well to avoid confusion.

          • @gotyourback: I think it is fine. Just the stars aligning and creating confusion.

  • This is eBay's response to Prime Day. LOLZ

    • +2

Still better than "100 stores with 20% off …. On heavily marked up items" back in the days

      • good thing seller doesn't even know about this? or do they?? does eBay pay it out???

  • cashrewards doing 15% cashback ($25 cap) still a better deal if youre spending between $100-$200
also, anyone got a list of items around the $2 mark to suggest?

  • Thanks. Had been waiting to buy something for $1000 that has never been the subject of an eBay discount voucher …

  • +1

So just confirming, if you spend $20+, you get the $2 + $5 bonus plus the 10% cashback correct?

    • -1

Get a $2 bonus when you spend $2 OR a $5 bonus when you spend $20 or more.
Limited to one bonus per customer

      • +2

So the $2 part of the example above " Spend $20 and then you get $5 Bonus & $2 Cashback = 35% cashback" is the 10% back then? So its just $5 bonus and the 10% cashback then on a $20 spend?

  • What if you have multiple transactions and the total is >$20 but the individual items are lets say $15 and $6 each. Do you get the $5 bonus that way?

    • +3

To qualify for one cashback bonus, you must make one transaction (with the respective minimum spend) from eBay Australia (eBay.com.au)

its pretty clear in the description. you can add multiple items in cart, but must be over $20 in that one transaction

  • Maybe it is a "haha moment" until the same thing happens to Cashrewards and everyone is left fuming with nowhere else to go.

Even with best intentions these are sometimes inside jobs

  • Done, ordered some Bose QuietComfort 35 ii

  • Hi Op,
say a domestic seller lists an item for $20, if I purchase it. Would that be eligible for $5 bonus? Or the listing price has to be $22 or more to incorporate GST to qualify for $5 bonus?

Much appreciated if someone can help clarify.

    • since it's domestic i reckon it's just the final price you pay?

  • This deal is tempting for getting insanely inflated Lego sets from the scalpers!

  • +1

Thanks, I got this bottle opener carabiner for 63 cents delivered.

  • Anyone else have the problem where ebay forces you to split up the payment if you have multiple items in cart from different sellers? Just had this happen

    • Happens if different currencies. Shouldn't happen if all in same currency.

  • Will I still get the cashback if I use an Ebay credit voucher?

  • thanks, purchased a $10 item.

  • +1

    Does Coles on ebay work?

    • I suspect it may not as under don'ts it states:

Cashback is not eligible for purchases from Coles on eBay.

      and above it states:

Purchases of items excluded from cashback (for example gift cards, charity and non-profit items, eBay Plus membership, Cars, Bikes, Boats, Coins, Real Estate, Services, Tickets, Travel) do not qualify you for the bonus. -

I hope I am wrong as I also would like to purchase from Coles. But at least until tomorrow we can get 10% off on a $80 purchase for eBay Plus.

  • +1

    Spend $20 and then you get $5 Bonus & $2 Cashback = 35% cashback

This is confusing. You make it sound like you will get $7 in total, but it's an OR not an AND.

    • Agreed

    • You make it sound like you will get $7 in total, but it's an OR not an AND.

No, you will get $7 in total.

The $5 is a bonus, while the 10% is a temporary increase to the "usual" cashback, which is covered by this condition:

The cashback bonus is in addition to the usual cashback you receive on eBay Australia purchases.

      • I see what you mean. The $2 is from the 10% of $20. I thought it was the separate bonus on top of the 10%.

  • i can't find well priced low value items that's from an AU seller. Everything is from china. And you can't combine AU sellers with imports even if the currency is the same. Ebay will split it into separate orders.

    • ok this is really strange.

All of my items are in AU, in AUD, no shipping charges, and still one of them needs to split into a separate order. WTF?

So I can't even meet the minimum $20 spend.

      • No thanks to eBay manage payments. Try to checkout with giftcard or credit card, not PayPal.

        • what is the rule now? Is it a max of 3 items per transaction?

I just tried gift card and it did not split the payment into two transactions but gave me an unspecified error and did not work. Seriously, ebay is a joke and I'm glad I canceled Plus

Negging due to shopback data breach

  • Question. I just made a single transaction for 2 items totaling $20.91 from two sellers. On the payment screen I entered my CC details. However one item was paid via paypal ( i didn't select paypal) and other via CC. Will this affect how the transaction is tracked?

  • I assume the bonus $2/$5 offers expire today. When does the 10% unlimited offer expire?

  • A bit confused about this. So if you buy something for $200, you get $5 cashback bonus plus 10% cashback on the item price?

  • So you get $2.18 cashback for an $2 au stock item :)

  • Has anyone used shopback for seller offers? Cashrewards works if you accept an offer after clicking through but wanted to confirm anyones experiences with shopback. I know maybe it will be undocumented or against the rules, but it does work with cashrewards.

    • I'm in the same boat, and am waiting for it to track… So far, still waiting (bought around midday yesterday). I've not found anything that states it's an issue though, so hopefully it works!

  • Not working.

  • +1

What to buy that is exactly $2?

  • What about payment methods used on eBay, if say Afterpay was used to pay for item, still counts ?

  • Had 5 items in cart, if I used paypal to pay it was going to split into two transactions. I used my debit card but it split into two separate transactions anyways without giving a warning. Now it won't track for the $5 bonus as one transaction was $19 and the other $8. How great!
