Wonder $50 voucher works for the account previously on ebay plus?

    • just creare another email address and voila, $1 profit ($50 voucher for $49 joining fee) + heaps of $5 voucher (monthly) :). trial or join, both worthy but i would personally go with no-payment otpion lol so trial is my choice

      • -6

too many accounts can become a security risk as you can forget about it, and then it gets hacked.

        • no risk no gain 😂

        • Just found out you need to have a purchase history for the offer. This means it doesn’t work if you didn’t purchase anything before

        • +3

          Get a password manager

        • +7

Just add "+……." to username in your current email.

Eg. [email protected] can be [email protected]

Ebay recognises it as a new email/account yet all the emails are sent to your original email ([email protected])

          • @Whatisthatvelvet: Is that to start a new account (with the +) or logging in to an existing account?

            • +1

@Skinnerr: create a new account with the added +

            • +1

@Skinnerr: As ONEMariarchi says start a new eBay account with the "+" in the email.

I should have been more specific.

          • @Whatisthatvelvet: how didn't I know about that "+……."
            thanks :)

          • @Whatisthatvelvet: or add a full stop/period '.' to username

          • @Whatisthatvelvet: How does it help to use the + when creating a new account if I don't receive the $20 voucher because its a new account please?

      • +11

i stopped getting those $5 vouchers with $50 min spend…The $10 vouchers also stopped… all i get a price jacking and 10-20% combo promos lol

        • +5

yeah i haven't received a single voucher in the 10 months I've had it

          • +1

@ONEMariachi: I'm probably gonna cancel ebay plus in December. The stores I buy from are no longer ebay plus sellers or have removed themselves from ebay. unbranded international sellers aren't even ebay plus sellers so don't see a point anymore!

            • +2

@pippohippo: Yeah I don't get a lot of use out of it either. Amazon Prime is enough for me, at least I get books/audiobooks and tv shows/movies out that sub.

              • @ONEMariachi: I agree, prime video was the real seller (I didn't have to get netflix and can cancel ebay), and free shipping on small goods like household supplies

        • +1

Make it worse, lotta of sellers claim from local Aussie but actually they’re dropshipping from China.

Dissatisfied so many times with those kind of sellers and eBay for not doing anything about it.

          • @brongz: yea i've seen those before. I am willing to buy it from the "aussie" store if the price isn't too varied because i can get it much quicker otherwise I'll get from the motherland…

          • @brongz: On the other hand, you effectively don't get charged GST that way.

          • @brongz: Yeah fed up with this /\ !!! I bought a set of felt piano feet covers a couple of months ago. Listing said Australia. Suspected it wasn't because it had the same layout and price as listings in China. AFTER paying checkout showed a shipping time in months, PLUS a whiny excuse it would take longer because of CON-vid AND coming from overseas. It finally arrived yesterday. Sure enough, in a thin black plastic bag, white label, Chinese characters all over it like it was from Aliexpress. So they don't even hide the fact anymore because they know ebay does nothing to prevent it. Meanwhile, if I buy something in the USA and forget to change my address to the USA reshipper before buying, I get charged GST. (Or did anyway. I no longer make that mistake so maybe they've changed it.)

      • user who have an appropriate purchase history are eligible for $50 voucher. not sure creating new account might help or not.

        • +1

Well a true ozbargainer should already have built up some spare ebay accounts with purchase history to be used in these kind of situations.

        • Isn't the $50 only if you're paying them $49? (Making the $20 better value?)

Has anyone received a $50 voucher with a 30 day trial?

      • -1

I have 7x umm no 8x accounts and have 3x $20 vou hers left, handy too have few eBay accounts just been lazy too create more, my main 1st account from decades back with over 250x 100% positive ratings never gets any of these deals 🤑🤪👍

edit: I forgot too cancel one of my eBay plus trials and got on online chat with eBay and they were nice enough too cancel and refund my $49 back too my PayPal account, they told me I had a 10 day cooling off period anyway

Also check your eBay messages, i think around June was the previous lot of $20/$50 trial vouchers, I used one of those under 2 weeks ago, so they seem too stay valid for a while, so i start activating them too obtain the $20 voucher when I find something too buy first (or your forced too use the voucher within 20 days), otherwise cheap cables and stuff I'll buy around $20ish for a freebie

    • doesn't seem to be

  • Great.
Voucher needs to be redeemed within 30 days

    • +4

cannot ask for more from free money lol

  • +41

I personally have had eBay plus for 2 years and only found a handful of decent deals.

Cancelled and stuck with Amazon Prime as that was way more better value.

      • +26

No. Amazon Prime is 10000% times better.

        • +4

definitely, but, who would say no to free money when it occurs, right :)

          • +4

@webtherapist: It is not free money. You cannot stack the voucher and there is nearly always a better voucher available to everyone.

Almost every eBay Plus item already has free delivery.

So what are you actually getting?

I joined for the $50 voucher, quit at the 6mth mark, they offered $30 to stay and I declined.

Useless, even if they allowed you to stack the $5 voucher I still would have quit as you have to spend over $50 and I only works on eBay Plus items.

            • @Grok: Are you saying we have to spend $50, and only buy ebay Plus items, to use the $20 voucher?

        • +6

well, you shouldn't be paying more than $1 for eBay Plus, if you do, hand in your badge
and if you can't find a saving more than $1 every year on eBay, also hand in your badge

Amazon Prime is 10000% times better, I agree, but it costs $59/year

so not comparable in Ozbargain terms

    • +2

I did the same. I get value from Amazon Prime, but not eBay plus.

    • +1

I got it for free and it was barely good value.

    • Apples/oranges, the items on offer are different between the two marketplaces, one will never be a replacement for the other.

  • now anyone can suggest what to buy with $20 voucher ;)

    • Bluetooth Speaker?

    • +2

Something you were already going to buy but at a $20 discount

  • +6

So eBay Plus is that bad they need you actually pay you to join?

Can someone actually tell me any benefits of this over Prime?

    • +22

Yearly chance of 10 Airpod pros per 200,000+ people.

Immersive 2 hour gameplay search of Eligible items for discount of 10% pending stock.

chance of 10 Airpod pros per 200,000+ people.

I like those odds! Sign me up.

You have already tested eBay Plus for free. If you sign up now, the annual membership fee is due immediately.

All right then, keep your secrets eBay.

  • +1

The $5 free* coupon min$50 month coupon replaces the standard 5% off code which is a bummer as most plus items are jacked up by vendors.

    • +2

exactly, Amazon Prime is the go for all your bucks, but for free voucher driven like Trial, why not lol

    • +1

When I had plus I never received the monthly coupon. Couldn't be stuffed following it up either.

  • Does the eBay Plus trial require you to enter card details?

    • +1

Yes, and I believe you can use PayPal too - you can cancel the trial immediately and still use the remainder of the trial.
You can remove your CC/PayPal details after signing up too.

  • +1

The $20 is not something that you can sign up for and score.
You need to have an "appropriate purchase history" and never before had a free trial to receive it

    • How does one know if we ar eligible?
Would just signing up and clicking on the link in OP work? I see from the URL, the promocode is: PLUSUPSELL.

So would a new signup to eBay and clicking that link for eBay Plus do the trick? No harm in trying eh?

      • Yes, just give it a try, the system will say yes or no

    • Yeah cant get it using new account.
had created a new account and keeps saying ineligible.

      • you need spend small amount to make yourself eligible with the new account, cannot just expect to make an account and they will just hand you over the voucher

        • +1

i made purchase with new account, still not eligible ebay system is (profanity) honestly.

  • It's not easy for me to cancel the Ebay plus even I got the link from Ebay customer service.

    • +1

If you paid by paypal, just cancel the recurring payment in your paypal.

      • Thanks a lot

        • too cancel eBay plus I don't think you can from the eBay app you need too jump onto a web browser from your PC and should see a eBay plus section, so I do both cancel from eBay and dojomojo method canceling eBay from recurring payments within PayPal,..

(Now i have a habit of removing any mention of eBay in my PayPal account as when I sell something i always take up the free sale deals)

Saying all above i got stung as i didn't realise one my other paypal account was used for recurring eBay payments, so got on online chat with eBay and they were nice enough too cancel and refund my $49 back too my PayPal account, they told me I had a 10 day cooling off period anyway

  • +1

Can I get $70 if I try and then join? Or it’s a choice to be made $20 or $50

    • Its one or the other but you can only get the $20 if you have an account that has already got a buying history and has never had the free trial before. If you are signing up fresh, then you can only get the $50 deal

  • Damn not eligible as I signed up earlier this year to try score those $99 airpods which I didn't get… Sad.

  • +5

ebay plus is perhaps the biggest waste of money i've spent online in the past 5 years. Amazon prime is better in every single way. I can't believe ebay thought they could go head to head with amazon when they don't offer anything better for the same price. Jesus, I hate ebay.

    • +1

Think you need to release some of that pent up anger, don't think it's that bad

      • +3

I don't understand all this hatred towards eBay, it's not the best value for most items but there are some bargains to be had. People are acting like eBay slapped their mothers.

        • I'm wondering if they are disgruntled missed-out-on-airpods people? I have to agree, it's not amazing but I have used it a bit. And the savings and deals are always a lot better than anywhere else (if price jacking stays away).

      • -2

my comment makes me look insane I know, i'm not mad nor am I salty I missed out on some random apple deal. It's just a shit product and I'm expressing it as such, ebay has done nothing good for me in the past decade, the sooner they fold the better. And (profanity) paypal.

        • +1

Well that's you and in turn best thing to do is don't use ebay. It doesn't mean its a bad product just because they have done nothing for you. It's not their job to do anything for you, it's up to you find the bargains.

For me, Ebay works out much better pricewise compared to Amazon Prime in the type of stuff I buy. I have both and rarely use Prime due to crap prices but that's just me but doesn't mean they are crap. Both have their niche and neither will replace the other.

          • +1

@Borg: Really depends on the price of the item your buying on, im like you im always buying off eBay and im racking my brain trying too remember when I've used Amazon (im sure a couple times plus 100s of free eBooks), I dont believe in subscriptions so with my 8x eBay accounts I went with the $20 vouchers, if an item on eBay is priced between $20 to $50 using the $20 voucher your either getting it for free or 2/5ths cheaper something you won't get with Amazon

I dont know why so many are complaining about eBay it doesn't cost anything too have, if yous don't like ebay plus then stop paying the subscription

edit: with eBay also the great auction sales of stuff that can be had

  • This is for NEW signup ONLY right?
Other words if I previously had ebay plus then I will not eligible?

    • That’s what I am asking too, had it 2 years Ago

    • Yup, worth making a new account imo.

  • Super Mario 3D All Stars for $55 is tempting.

  • +4

The Offer is only available to users who have an eBay account with a registration address in Australia, and who have an appropriate purchase history (‘Eligible Users’).

  • +3

"Sorry, you're ineligible for this offer due to lack of purchase history. You can still unlock a range of exclusive offers & free delivery on millions of Plus items if you join eBay Plus."

    • Buy something for a dollar?

      • Good idea, I might try it later to see if it works.
        Thanks.

        • No worries. Let us know if you have any luck :)

    • This account actually had an order before, "ORDER DATE 20 Aug, 2019".

However, it still says "lack of purchase history".

      • +3

You need at least 3 purchases

        • +1

Is this mentioned anywhere? Thanks, if you could just point it out in the T&Cs / elsewhere?

          • @djoz: Unfortunately not mentioned anywhere but previous experience with new account and this offer.

  • +1

My eBay Plus runs out in early Oct, so I don't think I can redeem this until that runs out. I will have to wait for the next round of incentives. Last time the membership cost me $0.99, but for the usual $49 it probably isn't worth it.

  • +1

I managed to snag the Airpods pro for $250, got free express shipping on eBay Plus items a 2-3 times.. Bought something recently on 21% off sale.. Used my monthly $5 voucher only twice over the last year but I am still very unlikely to renew my eBay Plus membership as overall it doesn't offer much. I however like my Amazon Prime membership. The prices on Amazon fluctuate from time to time and you are likely to get a better deal there without the hassle of eBay Plus drama/ sales aka competitions and discounts on already inflated prices (mostly but not always).

Luckily I got $50 voucher when I joined eBay Plus a year ago.

TLDR: Anybody wondering if eBay Plus is worth paying for, I would say "no", unless you score an eBay voucher while joining.

    • I hate any form of subscriptions though i didn't say no too the free $20 voucher from eBay, mind you I've got 8x accounts by $20 vouchers, doesn't cost me anything too have eBay accounts, so I would say "no" also

  • +1

Set up a reminder to cancel before the trial ends. I forgot to do this and eBay flatly refused to let me cancel or get the voucher offer although I hadn't used any of the "benefits". My fault for forgetting, but the waste of $49 has left a bad taste in my mouth as I still can't find a good use for the membership. Everything I want is either not eBay Plus eligible or is cheaper from a non-eBay Plus seller :S

    • +1

If you paid by paypal, just cancel the recurring payment in paypal now. Ebay won't know until they try to bill you again.

    • I missed canceling the same as you, eBay chat online happily canceled and refunded my $49 too my PayPal account and they told me i actually had 10 days cooling off period anyway

  • Beware the $50 voucher will be given in 10x $5 each month with a requirement of $50 minimum spend On Plus products. If you want to jump hoops each month with disappointment then this is exactly what you looking for. Don't fall for this crook.

    • +4

Depends on the deal you get. I got one $50 voucher and multiple $5 vouchers every month. $50 voucher could be stacked with other codes/sales however $5 voucher was just a gimmick with too many conditions.

      • My $20 vouchers I noticed could not be stacked with any other eBay deals/vouchers glad too know the $50 voucher can be stacked

$5 voucher i find are not bad for buying stuff like multiple usb mobile cables etc as long as one keeps total price close too $10 so technically 50% off 😃

ps: ive never followed through an eBay plus yearly plan only trials

    • +2

One $50 voucher on top of monthly one's. So not too bad.

    • +1

It's supposed to be a $50 voucher in addition to that, that has a 30-day expiry.

    • Stop spreading bs when you have no clue m8

      • 424242 42 min ago

      • +1

Just to clarify since this dude is still being upvoted for some reason you get a $50 voucher as part of this promo AS WELL AS the $5 monthly vouchers that you get for being an ebay plus member

  • Can the voucher be stacked with existing eBay plus codes? Eg looking at getting the Sony XM4s for ~$420 using code that only works with eBay plus and then use the voucher for extra money off?

    • +1

No it doesn't stack, best way is to spend on something when there's no other promos and you need something not much over $50.
