I used a modified 10L water container… ~$4 from Coles w/ water… until I got the 12Qts with neoprene sleeve and silicone lid. The 10L did just as well and didn't smell of neoprene.

The silicone lid sags a little so reduces the air gap, but it also has ~10mm gap around the Inkbird shaft.
@raybies: how much did you pay? I wonder if they ever go on sale as ~80 bucks seem to be a bit too much for just a plastic container.
That’s what I did - one with the plastic container on the inside. Just cut a hole in the lid for the sous vide heater and it’s good to go. Holds the heat quite well so saves on power.
The only downside is you can’t see inside to check everything is submerged, without lifting the lid.
I might have gotten the container/precision cooker combo last year for father's day sale (or possibly black Friday, my memory is a bit fuzzy). Was about $320 delivered for both. Maybe hold out a little longer.

Easy to cut to fit the Anova (or any other sous vide device).
That is, basically, my setup as well. If you use something like these you can cut the right size hole for Sous vide. You will also need to nibble out the edge for the clamp attachment.

I have an Anova and an Inkbird - get the Inkbird and save your cash.
I was considering getting the Anova. May I ask why you prefer the Inkbird?
Inkbird is essentially a low powered Anova Pro Model, and 99% of people aren't doing large volume cooks that need the extra power. So it will produce the same results at a much much cheaper price. I wouldn't get a base model Anova now anyway as the Anova Pro and Inkbird have all the info and controls on the unit so you don't need the apps. So about $300 vs $100 to do the same thing.

@prizefightinyeti: My Inkbird started making rattling noises… took it apart but everything seemed solid… wrapped some Kapton tape around some parts, put it back together.

C-Tick is all about EMC (electromagnetic compatibility) and has nothing to do with electrical safety.

I have significantly more confidence sticking my body parts in with the Anova, than I do with other things (not to say I don't take that risk either)
noticed the instant pot duo sv (one of the recent costco deals) has a sous vide function. anyone tried it and has feedback comparing it to anova?

The new ones are meant to be waterproof, some people had problems with the old ones with water in the motor. I’ve got a old one and I haven’t had an issue, but I don’t use it that often.
and the old ones were not? i mean how could a sous vide stick not water proof?
