GALAX GeForce RTX 2070 Super 8G $579 + Delivery @ Shopping Express

740

There have been a few deals (here and here) involving the 2070 Super the last few weeks bundled with other stuff like RAM and SSDs, but as far as I can tell this is a new all time low for the card on its own. Also, this waiting game is pretty rough, at least it looks like we're heading in the right direction..

AND THE ANSWER IS STILL… NO

Agreed. Posting this was some sort of coping mechanism/therapy I think.

we're very nearly there so if you can just hold on for a month or 2 it should be smooth sailing here on out

        • What are you holding out for?

          • @Yuri Lowell: I'm in queue for a 3080 so nothing in particular. just dishing out advice :)

      • Hehe Well played OP! I feel exactly the same. The hype/wait/need mess is real, but the deals are certainly getting better for cards we can actually buy.

    • +1

Lets haggle…..how about the 2070 Super Card, some VB perfume AND a monkey that bangs a drum for the same price?

  • +5

Gigabyte deal was better but anyone (myself included) who’s hung around waiting til this point May as well get to big navi and 3070 release.

    • +4

People keep saying this like it'll be available next month lol

      • They will be. To the nine fastest people who are running bots at release :)

  • They have to drop another $80 to be considered as worthy… which could be a reality as long as 3070 and Big Navi cards have enough stock

    • $499 for a 2070 Super is a big call, but might be plausible. I suspect there are a huge number of buyers holding out for next gen so shortages will keep new releases inflated. Time will tell if that causes a further 13-14% drop on 2070s. I'm hoping so

    • I wonder if people already forgot about AMDs last GPU launch that didnt even have covid hampering it

They definitely did NOT have stock

  • +3

We've all waited so long another fews week isn't going to hurt anyone (except 2xxx owners).

  • +1

must be $500 or less, especially for a lower quality AIB.

  • +7

and ppl still sell 2nd hand for 600+ on FB marketplace…

    • +1

And that's why they are still there, no one buys those ones, the $400 ones are snapped up on the hour.

      • +1

Yes that's for old listings that have been up for weeks.

  • +3

Don't know, the 3060 is likely to have the same performance and cost about the same. If you didn't want to wait, it's not a terrible deal.

    • -1

3060 Ti should be a shade cheaper and at 2080 Super performance. 3060 will be a lower product class, more akin to the 1060/1660 Ti price point.

Likewise, the 3060 Super, 3060 Ti Super and 3080 Super are going to be pretty phenomenal cards when they come about.

      • The galax slide lines the 3060 with the 2080 (7% faster than a 2070 super) and 3070 half way between 2080super and 2080ti. There's no room in there for a ti just yet.

        • The GA106 didn't tape out until late June, so the only thing appearing soon is a GA104 SKU, and that's almost certainly the 3060 Ti with its 38 SMs (full chip being 48). The first GA106 is rumoured to be a cutdown 30 SMs (full chip being 36).

The slide is subject to formatting to fit the text in. We already have enough info about the 3070 to know where its performance is going to fall, and a 38 SM chip sits just beyond a 2080 Super. Most people who know are under embargo, but these guys (who do their homework) are claiming double confirmation:

          https://videocardz.com/newz/confirmed-nvidia-geforce-rtx-306…

You can believe me, or not, totally up to you. If they call it a 3060 and charge $325-$350 for it, the general public will be pissed.

          • @jasswolf: Mate I ordered a 2060 for $489 from pcbyte yesterday, should I revoke that order to move to this one or just hold it to wait for the good deals of 30s later this year? Mainly use for video editing. TA

            • +1

@ozbbcuk: A regular 2060, not even a 2060 super? I'd hold out mate. I bought my 2060 super for 480 (albeit on a price error earlier this year), but even the 2060 super has come down to around 500 recently, and will likely come down further.

            • +1

@ozbbcuk: For video editing you're getting the same NVENC chip for every 16, 20 and 30 series card aside from the original GTX 1650.

But for value and 1440p gaming performance, I would target the 3060 Ti, but be mindful of how quickly stock has been depleting. Judging by NVIDIA having opted to delay the 3070 launch, we can expect supply to be seriously ramping up for these models.

The smaller nature of the chip also means double the production capacity, all else being equal, but NVIDIA would be devoting more foundry resources to the mainstream chips anyway, so the real number would be at least 3x.

              • @jasswolf: I guess would only play mount and blade lol

                • +1

@ozbbcuk: Good chance to get back into AAA gaming then? You'd be good to go with a 144Hz or 240Hz monitor.

Nice deal. It’s like limbo now. How looooow can they go

    • ok

  • Hanging on to gt 730. Can't wait for these prices to drop a little further $399 and I will buy in a pinch

  • If you buy the Gigabyte card and sell the SSD for $50 you will end up paying the same price $579. The Gigabyte is a much better card if you can overcome the reported fan noise issue.

Personally, I am just waiting for these cards to go below $500. I don't need one and I might not even use it after I get one. Just upgrading for the sake of upgrading because it's so cheap.

    • There was a deal a week ago for the Gigabyte card with SSD for $599 so it would have been even cheaper than this one. I think I'd rather wait for a few more weeks to see what the 3060 pricing will be like.

      • You are right. That was Shopping Express listed as $699 but the cart showed $599. So if you sell the SSD for $50 you end up paying $549 which is a great price. I am just hoping better RTX 2070 Super cards will end up below the $500 mark by the end of the year or 3060 with similar performance for 10% more. Don't forget Big Navi will be a major factor as well.

  • Does this card have fan noise issues?

    • It's not built to be quiet, but doesnt have issues (I.e. rattling, revving, whining). Two small fans and a small heatsink have to work pretty hard under load so you'll hear it. Galax EX model has larger fans, and on three fan version is reviewed quieter

  • If I didn't have my superb 1660 ti, I'd be all over this sweet deal.

    • Can I ask what fps you're getting out of say cod, battlefield 5 and any racers at 1080p and 1440p med-high settings? Wondering if good option for me.

  • But will the new card with same price be much better than this?

  • Im waiting for it to <300 and come in better colours.

    • you're going to be waiting a generation or two until the 1650 super replacements catches up to 2070 super levels then

    • Cause the only 3000 series you can buy today are going for 4-6x this price?

    • +3

what you’ve just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

Why haven't more people negged this comment?

    • Are you related to jv?

  • As someone who is intending on playing Cyberpunk on a 1440p monitor, and currently running 2x 970s in SLI, what should I be doing? I don't want to spend over ~$450 on a new graphics card so should I wait for the current gen to drop further, or wait for this 3060 card everyone is talking about?

    • +2

Sell both 970s and put it on top of your $450 budget. Plus more price drops after new AMD cards and holiday sale for sure.

    • The 3060 may not be under $450

      • Definitely will not be in Australia anyway.

    • +3

you'll be waiting until 2077 mate hahaha

    • I'd just buy this card. With DLSS you should be able to get 60fps on high I reckon.

  • +7

I bought the Gigabyte 2070 Super deal and I'm very happy. I always seem to be a generation behind on tech but I can live with that, my games are smooth at 144Hz 1440p so no complaints whatsoever :D

  • +1

I bought a Galax Super EX Gamer 2070 card (3 fans) with the last deal and sold off the "free gift" (RAM) on ebay … came to the same price :-).
Great card … works fine and runs pretty cool.

  • +3

Be funny if amd releases 32gb vram GPUs with similar performance, and people start panic selling 3080s and 3090s

  • Radeon 6000 is supposed to be on par in performance with the 3080 for a cheaper price, let's see if it delivers.
