You can always put a case over it if you don't like the colour.

    • +16

There is also no harm put a case even if you like the colour

  • never mind I missed code tenten

    • What will the iPhone 12 cost?

        • +2

Beer tech you say? I like the sound of that. 🍺

        • +2

Iphone 12 will be $1200 at least. So unless you MUST have the latest of everything saving roughly $250 is still significant.

          • +2

@cypher67: 5G is a significant enough upgrade to make the extra 250 worth spending.

            • +3

@Icecold5000: Depends on the user, I don't watch videos/play online fps on my phone and considering the 5G rollout map so far I can't see it being useful to me in the next 2-3 years.

A 5G laptop I'd be all over, but current phones I can't see the use case yet.

            • @Icecold5000: The iPhone 12 will have oled apparently even for the iPhone 12 mini. I think the mini starting price will be $1100, anyway no long to go now so worth waiting.

I might upgrade my iPhone XR, not sure if I’d got for 11 or 12, I suppose it depends in price/performance etc. iphone 12 might have worse battery, in any case it is worth waiting

              • +1

@fozzie: At least there is a wide variety of models. I wonder if Apple came to the realisation that not everyone wants to pay for $1800 mobile every year. I think I’ll keep my XS for another year though. More excited about possible a MBP ARM release.

            • @Icecold5000: $250 for 5g alone would arguably be not worth it, even though 5 years from now when 5g is widespread the newer model will be much better. But where Apple newer models make sense, you’ll be getting gen newer SoC, better cameras, better screen, year longer support etc. So while $250 might seem like a significant difference, but in reality you are going to see improvements everywhere with 5g included.

              • @Ronnnie:

$250 for 5g alone would arguably be not worth it,

It just depends on your budget. If you’re a struggling student or on minimum wage I can understand that position. For others not so price sensitive it doesn’t really matter that much.

                • @Icecold5000: This is ozbargain, people are arguing on the value proposition. If you are a struggling student by an A20 or something considerably less. 1k phones aren’t for you.

          • +1

@cypher67: Agreed. I would guess at nearer $1,300 for the 6.1” screen.

  • +1

Side note. I’ve currently got a 64gb iPhone, and have no problems with storage.

    • +3

There’s a good reason Apple have really started caring about camera quality recently, and it’s called iCloud/Apple One

      • +11

Correct …. Oh you can only take 200 photo's before you run out of a storage, better upgrade your cloud storage and give us more money!

        • +2

For this reason I am thinking of signing up an Indian Apple ID. Family plan of Apple one there will be $7/month with 200GB cloud storage and other services like apple music arcade etc.

          • @Pricebeat: You will need an Indian credit card for that.

          • +3

@Pricebeat: Get ready for Bollywood hits in your music recommendations.

        • +3

You can use the Google photo backup if you don't necessarily care about the full quality. I find their unlimited storage to be fine for my photos. Anything I want to use for showcase / editing I download onto my PC manually or chuck into Dropbox/onedrive.

      • +1

Get Google Photos and store high quality photos for free

if you don't play games, 64gb is plenty

      • +6

And if you don't install any more apps; and if you don't take any photos or videos; and if you don't use any messaging apps that retain chat history and media files shared with your friends and families; and if you don't save any TV shows or movies on your phone
        64gb in 2020 is a joke
I don't play games but my phone is saying 220gb used out of 256gb.

        • +2

I liked your comment, I was wrong

        • i barely use 64gb, not everyone takes a picture of every second of their lives

      • +6

If you don't play games, 64gb might still not be enough.

Source me. Yes I take lots of pictures.

        • +2

forgot about that, very true, 64gb won't be enough for people who like taking pics/vids, especially now HD cameras, 1 min video is like 300+ mb

      • +1

With unlimited original quality storage on my pixel, 64 still not enough. I have this phone as well and I gotta say 5w charger in 2020 is a shame and screen is not good for those prefer oled or used it previously.
Especially when you put screen protector on top of it.

    • +4

64gb is dreadful when youre on holidays with crappy hotel wifi/roaming sim. Good thing no one is traveling in the next 12 months tho ha!

  • +14

Don't forget this is an import, not au stock, which means a world of pain if there is a problem with it.
Might be better waiting 1 week for AU stock prices to drop

    • +1

Can't you just walk into any Apple store and get it fixed? I know if you live somewhere without an Apple store it's a nightmare but I thought you could still just take it into any Apple store and get it fixed under the 12 month warranty.

Granted, considering AppleCare is $200 it's probably just worth buying locally to get 24 months warranty (although you do get accidental coverage with AppleCare).

      • For those that have buttery hands the accidental care is a good option.

      • +3

fixed under the 12 month warranty.

AU stock has a 2 year warranty. I wouldn't cheap out with a grey import and get half the warranty.

Plus, I try to avoid supporting Kogan.

      • +2

You can get it fixed if it was bought legit dealer in another country.

Grey import is not considered legit in any country so no warranty applies and they sometimes don't even fix if you offer to pay.

So in terms of this, no one but Kogan will care about any problems you have. You've heard of kogan warranty and support quality.

    • +1

I'd be cautious because of this paragraph in Apple's warranty T&Cs in particular.

IMPORTANT RESTRICTION FOR iPHONE, iPAD, APPLE TV AND HOMEPOD SERVICE.

Apple may restrict warranty service for iPhone, iPad, Apple TV and HomePod to the country where Apple or its Authorized Distributors originally sold the device.

Apple in my experience has been on the generous side with warranties, they replaced my MBP's topcase for free 4 years after purchase because of minor marks in the screen coating, but I'd still factor in the inconvenience of potentially not being able to get warranty work done in Apple Stores. I don't think Kogan's warranty experience even comes close.

    • And it could be a Japanese model which has a camera shutter sound you cant turn off

      • There goes my plans to become a deviant upskirt photographer

  • +2

Well its going to become cheaper still

  • OLED screen?

    • +3

      Liquid Retina displays are LCD

  • +6

Unless you need a phone asap I would wait for the iPhone 12 even if you don't intend to buy an iPhone 12 as you may be able to buy the iPhone 11 AU stock for the same price as grey import from Kogan.

  • +1

Be wary, last Kogan iPhone I bought was Japanese version, with annoying camera shutter YMMV.

    • +1

Was it a Hello Kitty camera shutter?

      • If only, just that you can't turn it off.

        • can you adjust the volume at least or is it like full blast shutter sound? HAHA

          • +1

@skido: Full blast. Live photos dont make a sound tho

  • Do all apple products get 2 yrs warranty (ipad, macbook)?

    • In Australia phones and iPads have two years or coverage under ACL which is almost the same as warranty. Macs have three years. If it was purchased overseas it will only have the one year warranty.

      • Thanks for the reply.

  • It's almost like a marketing strategy that Apple is forcing a lot of people to go for 256GB because 64GB is too small. What's the price difference of a 64GB vs 128GB SSD in a phone in 2019?

    • +1

Almost? It’s 100% part of their marketing strategy. If 128GB were the base, then fewer people would buy the next one up (256GB).

    • +1

Probably next to nothing, like a few dollars.

Calling iPhone XR refresh as iPhone 11 is also a pure marketing strategy, trying to trick people into thinking it's iPhone X/Xs refresh.

  • +1

Kogan and iPhones ain't a good mix.

  • iphone 12 announcement next week though.

  • +1

I think most people are aware there's a new iphone imminent. Doesn't mean this isn't a very good price for the 11.

My guess is anyone looking at buying an 11 now isn't obsessed with having the latest model. Is it likely to be any/much cheaper than this anytime soon regardless of the new launch? Look at the price history of Apple products, I think not.

  • Great price. Vomit colour.

    • +1

If your vomit is this colour green, please see a doctor immediately.

  • Please bear in mind that Kogan are notorious for selling international phones. Not a HUGE deal but phones purchased in australia have two years of coverage under Australian consumer law. International phones only have Apple’s one year warranty. If you buy appplecare then it doesn’t even matter 😂

  • Does it come with 3 free lightning cables? One for each year as they manufacture them to break. And you'll only need 3 because they wind the clock down on the phones to 'preserve the phone due to a degrading battery'. But don't worry, they'll replace your battery for free…… Just don't plan on them honouring it when you get to the apple repair shop - they'll tell you some BS like your phone is bent, then invite you to pay a $129 inspection fee and send it off with no guarantee it can be fixed. Absolute shisters this company, but the fanbois can't see past it.

    • Sounds like you had an iPhone 6+ haha

Mine was bent too.. but after they started noticing everyones was bent.. replaced it free

      • Wow that's interesting. Never offered that for me. And you're correct, iPhone 6.

  • +1

more than $900 for a 64 gig soon to be superceded ? As Tony Abbott says 'are we mugs?'
Apple this Apple that will you all just stop it already, that died 5 years ago

    • You’re quoting Tony Abbott; the suppository of wisdom?!

      • well for once, I think he is right that we are 'treated like mugs'

  • If it only was 128GB (or even 256GB).
I actually like the colour, as it matches my car (BA Falcon in Ice Mint Silver).
I'm actually tempted to switch to iOS from Android after so many years, since google has killed of Google Play Music in favor of YouTube music.

    • What's the difference b/w google and YouTube music?

      • -1

YouTube music has made it very difficult to listen to your local stored music on your phone. It basically forces you to stream music off YouTube

        • -1

No idea why you think that way. I can easily mark any songs I like to be downloaded and listen to them locally without streaming off the internet.

          • @dji1111111:

I can easily mark any songs I like to be downloaded and listen to them locally without streaming off the internet.

That what my Spotify subscription is for.

However, not all of my music is available on services like Spotify and I shouldn't need to rent music that I own outright.

            • @nick90: No idea what the big deal is. I just use Samsung music if I want to play the songs I have on my phone. Not that I do since I haven't come across any music that's not on YouTube music

        • I use samsung music app to listen to locally stored music. No problem at all.

          • -1

@Modesty: Only problem with it is that I don't own a Samsung and it won't work with Android auto.

            • @nick90: Then download one of million music apps out there

              • @dji1111111: Unfortunately very few of them work with Android Auto. Moreover, the one that do are largely based on a subscription service. Apps like VLC, Doubletwist, Mediamonkey claim that they work on AA. However, they don't appear on AA when I plug it in my car.

  • Lol at buying a new phone 1 week before a new model is released. The price on tech only goes one way. Clue: it’s not up.

    • +1

Apple is the only exception, they would rather dump it all in the trash compactor than put it on 60% off clearance - reputation is at stake, apple products never go on clearance, they just get removed from the website and that's that.

  • My friend just bought an iPhone 11 from Kogan, it’s a Chinese model, which has a 20% low battery sound you can’t turn off. But you get dual sim with Chinese models.

    • AU model has e-sim so it’s dual sim too.

    • is this dual-sim?
