      Yes

Do you know what drives are inside these? 5400rpm ultrastar? Or 7200rpm black? Something else?

  • +2

Thanks OP been looking for a 10TB deal for steam game storage (faster to move from HDD to SSD than redownload).

  • Will officework price match this?

    • +1

No, it's a membership only price

  • Is this a helium disk?

    • +5

Depending on the batch you get. Originally they were helium filled but the newer ones are air filled. Not sure about Australian stock but US stock have moved over to air filled.

      • +1

Hmm that's disappointing. I'd probably go for the 12TB one assuming it's definitely helium filled.

        • +6

Should be, they're firmware locked capacity reduced 14TB drives.
Basically with WD these days, if you want Helium filled the only way to guarantee that is to shuck 12TB+ drives.

  • Got the 8tb for $209, thanks.

    • +1

Confirmed 8TB is not helium filled

      • Australian stock?

        • Title says WDBBKG0080HBK-AESN so should be AU however looking at the specs table is says EESN not AESN which is Europe… So depends if the title is correct or the specs table.
          Delivery date is 23/10

@mark-emark: Wasn't curious about the Amazon's stock but rather what stock sicaboy is confirming the 8TB drive to be air filled with. Most Australian stock I've come across should be fairly old batches with helium drives. (Most Australian based retailers are low on stock and haven't restocked until roughly now, so the stuff coming in stock now in Australia would be expected to be air filled though).

      • So not good then? As helium is cooler for RAID/NAS, right?

        • +2

Technically yes, they also supposedly use less energy because of reduced drag on the spinning platter.

        • +2

They run much hotter if not helium.

  • 14TB is $299 from Amazon UK

  • Thanks OP, bought the 10TB drive.

  • +1

    Thanks OP This looks good.
Max per person 3 units though.

  • I received my 10TB WD Elements and have opened it up. Not sure what drive it is as the model is WD101EDAZ, anyone know what it is?

    • DAZ not MAZ?
if it is WD101EMAZ then info is here on reddit
if DAZ then I am not sure.

      • +1

I can confirm. 4 arrived (3 + 1) and all were WD101EDAZ. They seem to be 5400RPM and work well.
