Thanks OP! just bought one for my new pc build, perfect for what i need

  • +1

not sure if i should pair this with zen 2 or wait it out for 3

    • I'm just pairing with a cheap 3400G in the short term, but will upgrade to a zen 3 and dedicated graphics once the cutting edge tax has abated…

  • +2

Have done 2 builds recently and seems to be an excellent motherboard. 1 build I used a 3400G to await the 3080 release and take advantage of 20 series price reductions. Have just bought a 3700x (which I put in the other build) from the Computer Alliance sale to replace the the 3400G as I now have a 2070S and the 3400G will go in a B450 matx. This price is amazing - although a pain to wait for USA and possibility of return.

  • will these work with zen 3 out of the box or do we need to flash the bios?

    • Bio flash, easy to do but you'll need a zen 2.

      • +3

dont have a zen 2, (still on an i5 atm). But reading the page it has this:

        Easy BIOS Updates
With GIGABYTE Q-Flash Plus, you don’t need to install the CPU, memory and graphics card nor enter the BIOS menu to flash the BIOS. Just download and save a new BIOS file on the USB flash drive, then press the dedicated Q-Flash Plus button and you’re good to go.

So can i just plug the MB up with the psu and update with just those?

        • +2

          Ahh yes, that'll work then

    • -1

The B520, B550 and X570 will work with zen 3 out of the box. Some b450 and x470 will work with zen 3 but with bios update which is coming in January for major boards.

      • so all current b550/x570 (this one included) will too?

        • Yeap. No new boards coming for Zen 3 as of now. Heard a rumour the b650 and X670 boards will support AM5 socket.

          • +1

@LiquidX96: Thanks! will make things a lot easier in the new build, rather than fiddling with bios updates with no cpu.

            • @happycake: You might need to do a BIOS update if it isn't recent enough. It's different with the 4 series motherboards as IIRC, the new BIOS won't support pre-Zen 3 CPUs and won't be ready until early 2021.

              • @scix: So check the specific mobo for compatibility beforehand, now just hoping zen 3 will be priced reasonably here, and in stock. Thanks!

Paid $100 more recently for this, great board though

    • Bought it a month ago for $346 too. Feelsbadman.

  • can't decide on this vs asus tuf x570-plus (w or w/o wifi)

any strong views? reviews seem to favour the asus slightly

    • +1

I was undecided but went with this just for aesthetics. Probably will have similar performance.

      • very valid point - agree this one looks better

lasts for another 44 hours and shouldnt disappear like the RAM deals so i'm going to hold off to see if there's any other offers over the course of tomorrow

        • +3

Audio is better on gigabytes if that's something you care about

          • @MagicMushroom: Best for logic pro.

            • @BewareOfThe Dog: I use USB audio so the audio won't matter to me

Deciding to go with the Aorus Elite for 2 factors:

              1. Fan speed can be controlled (silent mode sounds like its basically off) - Asus no control
              2. Fan located away from GPU slot
  • Since this has front USB-C and not rear, anyone know of good cases with USB-C front panels? Preferrably with a 5.25 bay? Or if not, USB-C 5.25 panels (for an existing case) that connect to that header?

  • Planning to build with a 3600 very soon. Potentially upgrade to a Zen 3 later on down the track. Is this overkill or should I just get a cheaper B550

    • You should get this, better than b550

  • Guys does any1 know if this board has offset voltage settings or can you actually set the values? My Gigabyte X470 Aorus Ultra Gaming was only with offsets and I didn't like that.

    • Did you check for the bios update?
I bought the same board last year on prime for like $160 but it's still in the box.

  • no usb-c ?

    • Nope. not on the budget end of Gigabyte X570s.

Still very good deal for a X570, albeit a hamstrung board.

    • Yes; but only only using Front Header, none on Back Panel IO.

    • +1

You could try one of these for back panel : https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32991244384.html?src=google&…

or just by a case with one on the front panel. I put mine in a Lian Li Lancool II RGB as it has the TypeC @ on top @ the front but you still have to buy the 3.1 Type E to type C as it doen't come with the case - I haven't bothered yet.

      • Doesn't the header allow for two ports or is it just one like this plate has?

        • +1

The motherboard only has 1 Type E port and I can't find anywhere that says you can connect 2 ports to it nor can I find cabling that does so.

If it's important, for $40 you can have a PCIE card that does two at the back - but I hate plugging stuff into the back of a PC…

          https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B074QGBXSP/ref=sspa_dk_detail_3…

      • yes on the back but no on the front. i ordered it from amazon 6 weeks ago. got lost in the mail.

  • +1

I can't seem to pull the trigger on this, it lacks ram support only up to 4000mhz. I'm leaning towards the tomahawk X570 wifi, purely because i suspect ram will drop gradually in price where 4000mhz+ is affordable.

    • +1

Zen3 is reusing the current memory controller so I doubt you could push the FLCK past 2000mhz. Any higher clock speed on the ram will desync the FLCK and reduce performance. Straight up buying high end ram is a bit of a waste of money, especially if you have to wait for it to drop in price. Watch for a 3600c16 rev. E deal and overclock it to 3800 with tightened timings.

  • Can I run my R5 2600 in this and later on upgrade to the Zen 3 5000 series later or will it not support one or both of them?

    • -1

Doesn't support Zen+, only Zen 2 which is 3000 series. However it does come with a BIOS flash button so you don't need a CPU, so you can use it when Zen 3 comes out.

      • Thank you! I'll have to decide whether I upgrade to a R5 3600 and keep my B450 or just upgrade everything haha

        • +1

If you don't mind waiting till Jan/Feb you can flash your BIOS to support Zen 3.

          • @Yuri Lowell: You think my Asrock b450 steel legend will support Zen 3? I've heard mix opinions on whether it will, I really hope it does but I've been told not to hold my breath :c

            • +1

@MrPariah: I'd be surprised if it doesn't but it seems like MSI is the guaranteed brand to get it. No one really knows at this point other than AMD saying they will begin rolling out Jan onward.

              • @Yuri Lowell: Oh that's so good, makes me feel inclined to just wait for the BIOS update, I'm in no rush only nervous about not being able to buy a R5 3600 around Jan if for any reason my mobo doesn't get the update

            • @MrPariah: AMD already said so, B450 will support Zen 3 but you will have to wait for the bios update, it might not come on release day.

    • +2

Yes, you can run a R5 2600 in X570. Dont listen to the guy that says otherwise.

      https://www.gigabyte.com/Motherboard/X570-AORUS-ELITE-rev-10…

      • Oh that's awesome! I wonder if it's all X570 boards or just the higher end ones I'll have to do some research then

But if it's likely there is going to be a BIOS update for my B450 I'm more inclined to wait, but I also don't want to wait so long that if the update doesn't come out I can't buy a R5 3600 at all. Then I'll have to update everything that way thanks for your help!

        • All X570s support Ryzen 2000's… Support for Ryzen 1000 Series was removed.

      • My bad. It's the B550 that doesn't support Zen+, X570 does. You can just politely correct me rather than being rude about it, was only trying to help another user.

    • +2

im running my 2600x in it right now.

      • Oh great! Thanks for the input I wonder why the guy above told me it wouldn't support my R5 2600

Looks like VRM is fine without airflow all the way through to 3900x.

Most likely fine for 3950x and for 5000 series as well.

    Amazing price though!!

  • Those looking for intel might want to gander at this: https://www.amazon.com.au/gp/product/B087YP3HBT/ref=ppx_yo_d…
(ASUS TUF Gaming Z490-Plus, LGA 1200) for ~$280.
Cheapest local price on StaticIce is $338+

Now just waiting for some good processor deals… and of course the 3080 to come down and into stock

    • That deal was available last night for 1hr. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/572666#comment-9445522

      • Ah cool. That's okay. I don't have time to waste waiting around for specific windows to buy (a la Computer Alliance) - also don't have eB+

Would be nice to get that price right now however. Oh well. I can wait, components coming from everywhere will take a few weeks so lets see what crops up.

  • EVERYONE CANCEL THIS ORDER QUICK AND ORDER IT CHEAPER FROM THIS DEAL-
