  • thanks

  • thanks heaps, bought 1

  • 5400rpm good enough for PS4?

    I've only ever bought WD

    • +2

      The internal drive is 5400

      • +1

        Thanks

      • SMR or CMR/PMR?

        Rosebud or not rosebud?

        • Idk, I just wrapped out the 1TB HDD for an SSD in my PS4 Pro and remember seeing 5400rpm speed

    • -6

Correction - a work colleague told me that wd purchased Seagate. I think he was confused with Sandisk.

Current info on wikipefia is that both companies are still trading as sepearate entities. Both companies have gobbled up their competitors in the past to be where they are today.

Seagate Drives are usually standalone as internal (This was mentioned in the Australia post seagate posting yesterday). Wd are usually proprietary so they cannot be used internally, but this may depend on the model.

The seagate backup plus can be used on both Windows and macos, so this will be great for my ryzentosh. Hopefully this includes internal use as well.

Who knows. I don't think buying 1 for me and 1 for my missus is depriving too many people

        • +3

          Couple goals <3

  • Thanks op, got one

  • OOS?

  • OOS

  • Must be OOS - cant add to cart or buy it

  • Silly question: can I use this to play games? I mean save game to this and play it directly from it?

    • +6

Depends on the game but for the most part, yes it's possible, no it's not going to be a good experience… Pulling from USB is going to be very slow.

    • yes you can but not great but it will be very slow to load things compared to SSD. SSD is a must for a great experience.

    • PS4 and Xbox One, yes. PC would also work but it’s going to be pretty slow. You could remove from the case and install internally to improve it a bit

    • +1

Thanks guys:) Looks like it’s OOS now. I am too slow

    • I got this model drive earlier in the year for my Xbox.

The 4TB model actually runs two discs on RAID0. My games launch faster from this drive than the internal Xbox HDD and, I don’t get ‘jitters’ with some scene loads / montages.

I tossed up this or SSD but I couldn’t stomach the SSD cost for the same size. The RAID0 makes this more than acceptable.

      • What is with all the misinformation on this comment chain? The drive won't run any slower over usb3 than internal in your system, usb3 can easily handle this drive at max speed.

I have a 4tb seagate backup plus and steam games run no problem off it, yes it's only 5400rpm but the 4tb density makes it decent speed and when nothing else is accessing the drive then it gets the full speed of the drive dedicated to whatever game you are playing. Of course ssd are faster but not by very much on most games and in multiplayer titles you're still waiting on other players to load before you start the match anyway.

Also to the guy who said this is 2 drives in raid0 I'm not sure what legacy drive he bought as that hasn't been done on 4tb drives for many years and this is definitely a single drive inside, I've shucked a few of them.

The drive is slightly taller than normal so if you shuck it doesn't fit in the ps4 pro hdd tray. I had to take apart my ps4 pro and put it inside without the drive tray and double sided tape it in place then reassemble the console. It bends the casing slightly so you can't put the drive cover back on, I just put some black tape over the hole and it's not very noticable.

    20 mins late…

Didn’t even trigger my ozb notification :(

    • Just got it and out of stock 😭

    • Black Friday?

    • -1

Can we get notified when popular deals get posted?

      • -3

Would you also like this notifier to automatically purchase for you too?

      • +2

You can turn on notifications for certain categories, unsure if you can do it for 'popular' deals, but I'd guess deals like this are OOS before they get too many upvotes.

  • -1

Missed out on this again :( my order from this deal still hasn't shipped yet and I have half a mind of cancelling seeing how low prices have gotten

  • -1

Damn it, must have been on the site just before this was posted

  • -1

I always wonder how did you guys find such a good deals ?

    • +2

    • +8

link to fast 12tb for $89? I'll buy a few

    • +4

70MB per second seems decent for a portable HDD.

  • +1

    Damm missed it

  • -2

so quick, all gobbled up…..throwing money away

    • +1

But people are poor as a result of covid…

  • +4

I bought one on back order late August. The ETA was 15 September to 15 October. That has now past and they still don't know when they will have it in stock. I'm not sure why they keep selling back order when they can get the stock? Maybe someone has received theirs already so it's just me missing out.

    • That is pretty bad if true.

    • +1

I ordered two separately, a couple days apart, end of August/start of September. The dates kept changing for delivery, one has no expected date now. So this is a bit bullshit of them

      • +2

Yep. Mine the same. No ETA date now. Just 'we will let you know when it's in stock.' That's ridiculous when they still keep on selling them.

        • well why did you buy it then?

          • +1

@9hundred: It's the first time I have bought on back order and thought they would deliver it within the time frame they provided. I don't think its unreasonably to expect they would deliver it within that timeframe.

            • @enjunuet: i guess there is always a catch whenever chasing a bargain…..cheap for a reason.

          • @9hundred: He probably felt Amazon AU wouldn't take longer to ship than their estimation.

  • Can someone post a screenshot of seller and price please? (Proof of purchase) I want to check if its the same as who I bought from.

  • +1

It says sold by Amazon Commercial Services on the order details

  • That's an amazing price… Picked up a 2TB for $99 about 2 years back, so the prices are definitely decreasing :)

  • I ordered 3 x 4TB drives two months ago. The first drive was delivered this week, they sent a 2TB drive instead of 4TB.

  • 3 weeks and still not shipped out…

  • Order was just cancelled :-(

  • Received order cancellation email saying it was a price error! The hell!

  • Order got cancelled :-(

  • Same

  • +1

My order was cancelled as well:-(

  • -1

    lmao canceled

  • I’ve got a pending charge for this order. Not sure what’s going on.

    • My order was shipped today.

  • +1

Shit, such a long waiting and then all the sudden it got cancelled. It was a reasonal price, not price error. I would expect such cancellation came from Kogan not Amazon.

  • -1

    My order cancelled as well.

  • Mine got cancelled as well so I got annoyed and contacted Amazon. They gave me a $10 credit as compensation so you guys can try contacting them too.

    • -1

For such cancellation, Amazon usually provides $10 voucher as compensation. You do not need to ask for it.

      • Oh really? I got an email stating that the order has been cancelled but it didn't mention any compensation. hmm…

  • Mine got cancelled as well but no compensation!

  • I went on chat and they gave me $15 credit

  • got 15 compensation
