  • Note: TPG has the same offer

    • Not on their website, it was for a flyer and posted on ozb https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/552080

      https://www.tpg.com.au/fttb Shows nothing.

Doesnt matter really, both products using the same service, just the front end is different.

      • They definitely still do - I signed up for three months free last week.

It has a different code on a flyer which isn't on Ozb but I just mentioned iiNet was doing it and the bloke said it was fine.

        • Nice, it's the same service anyways.

          When you getting it connected?
Is there more than one phone socket in the home?

  • Was really happy for a split second, thought this deal was for the NBN plan.

  • Bargain basement pricing right there

  • I assumed I was on FTTB in my apartment block, but Aussie reports it as "NBN Fibre" and not "NBN FTTB".
I haven't seen that as delivery method. Anyone know what's the difference in technologies there?

    • +1

That means you have FTTP. ie. you have a Fibre connection at the Apartment. Must be a new build apartment.

      Congrats.

      https://www.nbnco.com.au/learn/network-technology/fibre-to-t…

You'll never be able to get this TPG/iiNet FTTB Non NBN product @ $59.99.

But you can get FTTP so it's different kinds of fruits.

      • It didn't occur to me that apartments blocks would be laid out with FTTP.
Called them up and they confirmed it's not FTTB.

Bittersweet, I guess, as my Aussie plan will be increasing in price next month.

        • Most or all new apartment builds nowdays must be FTTP unless the developer is super dodgy and installs Cat cable in each apartment (ready for FTTB).

Some new apartments dont even have NBN FTTP, they have Opticom FTTP or LBNCo FTTP (Probably because the developers have a contract or get a discount upon the install)

  • A friend has moved into an old apartment only HFC is available. Is there a way to find out if tpg/iiNet is planning to roll out FTTB anytime soon for his building ?

    • +2

Nop. They don't tell. Usually you will know if they do a letter drop.

  • FTTB, FTTP, HFC, etc…. I got a headache…

My current internet speed is 30.7 Mbps download and 15.2 Mbps upload from Belong NBN at 9:10 pm on Thursday(now). If I take this offer can it be improved?

So many information these days… I feel I am getting old…yeah I am old.

    • This deal is non-NBN FTTB and it is different from NBN.

On paper this should be much better than NBN.

Probably first check if FTTB is available for your address?

  • Trying to determine if a static IP is a (paid) option ?

    • Not sure

They are quick to answer on live chat

      Maybe ask them tomorrow?

    • You cant get a static IP with FTTB Non NBN can you?

As long as you dont reboot your modem and the modem stays connected you will always have the same IP address.

      or just use noip.com

  • This plan sucks as it changes to $79 with no Free anything when using a different addresses (in Qld) Ahh well typical iiNet.

    • It's not iiNet's fault. Your home doesnt have TPG/iiNet FTTB so it is their fault?

      • -1

I am fine as I have HFC on Superloop. Was disappointed for a friend who I was searching for.

This listing should have had some info about "requirements" as I am not a mind reader, so yes it is "their fault"

Why this not mentioned on the top of the page to save peoples time? Or people dont matter and its always their fault?

Each to their own here, Cheers!

        • Because NBNCo has made all of Australia think that if you have broadband you must have only NBN, so when Non NBN products come on people think they can get it. There are plenty of Non NBN FTTP and Non NBN FTTB out there.

  • Anyone know whether iiNet offer reinvention benefits to existing customers?
