Free AirPods with eBay Plus Trial Today Only from 2pm AEDT @ eBay Australia

2290
TPLUSPO

I did a search and I don't see this has been posted yet. Just received this in my eBay messages, only 700 pairs available. Check your account to see if you're targeted eligible.

Here's a link to a screenshot for proof.

Edit: now that I've had a chance to read through the T&Cs more closely, it's important to note that you must have signed up to Plus before 2pm today (see highlight in bold below). Also, according to the actual listing, these are 2nd Gen Airpods so they should be okay.

Edit 2: if you strictly interpret the T&Cs this is not targeted. So, if you already have Plus I don't see why you can't sign up with another eBay account and see if you get the invitation to redeem the code.

T&Cs:

Acceptance. By using or attempting to use the redemption code for this offer, you agree to accept and be bound by these terms and conditions.
Offer Period. This offer is available from 14:00 (AEDT) 26 October 2020 until 23:59 (AEDT) 26 October 2020 (“Offer Period”) or until sold out. eBay reserves the right to cancel the offer at any time.
Conditions. The offer entitles Eligible Customers to $249 off the purchase price (excluding postage costs) on the Eligible Item listed on www.ebay.com.au, up to a maximum discount of $249 per transaction. A maximum of one transaction, one item per person applies. All monetary amounts specified in these terms and conditions are in Australian dollars (AUD).
“Eligible Customers” means Customers who:
Have signed up to a free trial of eBay Plus between 07:00 (AEDT) 26 October 2020 and 14:00 (AEDT) 26 October 2020; and
receive an email from eBay inviting them to redeem the Coupon code TPLUSPO

“Eligible Item” means Apple Airpod item number 123932436002.
Redemption. To redeem this offer during the Offer Period, enter the Coupon code TPLUSPO into the redemption code box during the checkout process. This code cannot be used in conjunction with any other eBay offer, coupon or voucher. You can only use the redemption code once during the Offer Period. The code is provided to you as an eBay User and the limitations on its usage apply on that basis even though you may have registered a number of different eBay User IDs.
eBay rights. Without limiting other remedies and in addition to eBay’s rights under the User Agreement, eBay reserves the right to disallow or reverse a discount or prohibit access to this offer in circumstances where eBay believes:
you have provided false information, conspired with others to gain an unfair advantage or have otherwise been involved in any way in manipulating, interfering or tampering with the conduct of this offer;
a sale or purchase of any item as part of this offer has not been made in good faith, including where eBay considers that the buyer and seller may be related parties (such as family members or parties sharing the same dwelling); or
buyers or sellers have engaged in collusive conduct or any other conduct which eBay considers unfair, fraudulent or untoward.
Active. You must be an ebay.com.au registered member with an active account at the time of redemption (not suspended nor made inactive by eBay).
Shipping. Items will only be shipped to addresses within Australia.
Returns. If you return or seek a refund on any item purchased using this discount, the value of the discount will not be refunded to you.
No withdrawal. This offer cannot be withdrawn into your bank account and cannot be transferred.
Stock. Sellers are responsible for their own stock and eBay does not guarantee the availability of stock. This offer is only available while stock lasts.
Liability. To the extent permitted by law, eBay will not be responsible for any loss incurred by you in redeeming or attempting to redeem the offer or for any costs, damages, accident, delay, injury, loss, expense, or inconvenience that may arise in connection with the use of the offer.
Changes. eBay reserves the right to vary the terms and conditions of the offer at its reasonable discretion by publishing revised terms on ebay.com.au.
Jurisdiction. The parties submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of the state of New South Wales.

    Desperation intensifies

    • End of month/quarter gotta get those new user numbers up!

    • I am panting!!

  • +3

    Great find OP!

  • good job OP!

  • +2

I don't see if in my account - guess I'm not targeted. :(

  • if i have had ebay plus before but canceled if i re sign up at 2pm am i eligible ?

    • +1

If you were eligible you'd probably get something in your Messages. If no invitation then you're likely not eligible.

      • if i make a new account now would i possibly get it?

        • Now that I've re-read (and re-re-read) the T&Cs then you might be able to do this. It certainly won't hurt to try!

    • you have to sign for eBay plus trial beween 7am - 2pm today & if you receive a code you can claim at 2pm (I think)

Have signed up to a free trial of eBay Plus between 07:00 (AEDT) 26 October 2020 and 14:00 (AEDT) 26 October 2020; and
receive an email from eBay inviting them to redeem the Coupon code TPLUSPO

      • so if i sign up now there is a chance i get the message?

      • +1

Correct. I highlighted that above in the OP.

      • How fast did you get the email after sign up ?

      • +2

Just read the T&Cs… prior trial offers and memberships are not eligible. If you click on the trial offer they tell you this and that you must pay for the full membership immediately. No bells and whistles are offered… you just pay A$49.00 and that's it.

Having trialled eBay Plus before, the were no benefits I could indulge in (no longer use Coles FlyBuys rewards, I don't live in a metro city etc)…. in fact I can't remember any bargains I could participate in that made the $49 annual fee a worthwhile investment. e.g. eBay Plus seller Computer Alliance had a 20% off promotion running at the time. I decided to build an Intel NUC (barebones) PC plus components. By the time I included everything needed into the shopping basket, applied the 20% off, I found the same basket applied on their website plus shipping was actually cheaper and then I went to Umart repeated the same process and it was cheaper again. I am not suggesting that Computer Alliance of price jacking, but doing this every time om eBay (Plus) was both a waste of time and time consuming. I am way too cynical to keep chasing the rabbit down that hole.

Checking eBay Plus today there are even less benefits on offer than a year ago. No thanks.

        • theres an ozbargain link that gives u a $50 voucher for signing up effectively free if u were going to spend $50 anyway

  • Signed up for it. I have been looking for ear pods

    • how was there a certain link i cant find it

      • Just sign up for eBay plus trial

        • too late!

  • OP, was a message received on eBay or through email?

    • +1

eBay messages. I've been finding recently that all the best offers (e.g. $1 FVF for Sellers) only show up in Messages and not in emails.

      • righto cheers, just signed up for eBay Plus 5 minutes ago, all the best!

EDIT: was this message sent immediately after signing up?

      • I received it as an email. Have signed up, but haven't received the code yet. Any idea how long does it take?

        Thanks

  • +1

Do I need to sign up to eBay Plus and hope I get targeted by this email? Or does the email come through first?

  • between 07:00 (AEDT) 26 October 2020 and 14:00 (AEDT) 26 October 2020;

  • +4

All i got is the 15% off code PLUSXMS code.

  • +3

Didn't get the offer, I just got this:
"This Offer entitles you to a Coupon for a free gift from the Eligible Items if you sign up for an eBay Plus membership during the Promotion Period (‘Offer’)."
Then gives a list of cheap $15ish items to choose from. Yeah, nah.

    • +3

I got the same pointless offer with a bunch of stuff that will just end up in landfill.

  • How you know you are eligible or not

    • +3

      it's sign up roulette

    • If you receive the email/eBay message that highlights this offer, then you're eligible.

      • This deal should be marked as targeted and still isn't for some reason. Mods?

  • +27

Funny how these promos make me dislike ebay plus more…..

    • It works for them, see how many OZBs are signing up

      • Yeah but only for trial. And most will likely not even end up using it. They can keep baiting people into their free trials but if they keep offering trash, there wont be any long term customers.

      • +2

yeah but every single OZBer will cancel it. all it does inflate their internal numbers not their profits

  • +2

wow ebay really giving out AirPods for a subscription to their plus deal.. interesting.
Amazon doesn't need to do this to get our sub

    • not really, they are giving them out for a Trial to their plus deal :)

  • +7

AU $30.00 off your purchase. See conditions
    Redemption code: YOGIFTExpires 31/10/20

    Thanks. No thanks

    • +1

Got that as well, dont think i have ebay plus though

    • Same deal over here on a couple of accounts. Wouldn't have figured out how to even use the code if it weren't for this thread and checking the offer T&Cs. ebay's marketing team is cooked.

  • anyone who has just signed up let us know how long it took for you to get the message

  • Damn they must be getting desperate

    • +1

Yeah like me I'm cancelling this crap nearly nothing I can get from being a plus member except for some pathetic "Plus member free delivery" always labeled on the items that I don't actually need. I've paid to subscribe Amazon Prime member and it's a lot better. Let alone the Prime day deal and the Prime exclusive deal and almost everything free delivery for Prime members, the Prime Video alone is well enough worth the money. Oh I forgot Twitch Prime, free games and loots as long as you have a twitch account. And Prime Music is also free, at least better than nothing.

  • Ebay plus server down lol

  • +7

Is this a bargain or a competition?

    • +3

It's a lottery, as we know from the past.

    • +3

      Its a waste of time.

  • Desperate moments for ebay!!

  • -3

so just conforming that you only get this if you are a current ebay plus member

    • you only get this if you've probably owned the account for years but never signed up to ebay plus

    • You are confirming wrong. I got the message, was not and never have been eBay Plus member.

      • ok then

    • You never get new benefits from being a current member of anything, it's always for new signups/members

      • cos new signup increase their stats for shareholders

  • if anyone gets the offer can you post the link

  • +1

    I wasnt the lucky one…..always :(

  • -1

Of course they won't disclose how many they will actually give out. This is only for a chance to get a set of airpods which they might only have one set of. Or they will only make access to the code to a very limited number of accounts.

    Desperate marketing is desperate.

    • +3

      It says 700.

      • 700 available in the listing. eBay can limit how many they send the code out to.

    • +1

If you click on OP's screenshot, you can see that they have listed "700 pairs available at 2pm AEDT".

    • +1

      The OP says 700 units

  • +1

You have to start your trial and hope you get the offer. Not great because there’s no way to know if you will get the offer until after you’ve started your trial :(

  • Only 700 available. Hmm… how quick can you click?

  • +1

    Its a competition?

    • +1

      Nah, just a gamble.

  • +3

This is really confusing. So do you get the damn message before or after you start the trial?

    • +2

No, there's no guarantees. If the stars align with your chakra, you might get a message with the code.

    • After. Not everyone will get the message either.

  • I received the initial offer and signed up, if successful, do we receive code at 2PM or is it a random time after sign up?

    • did you have an account with ebay earlier but never signed up to ebay plus?

      • I've had an account for years but never signed up to ebay plus

        • thanks.

        • then you will win free ipod ears!

  • -2

Screenshot implies 700 pairs available, although find it difficult to believe Amazon will give away $175k worth of Airpods?

    • +1

      *eBay.

    • +13

would be weird amazon giving away 700 pair of airpods on eBay

    • How many people do you think will sign up for the trial? probs way more than 700… How many of them will keep eBay plus or forget to cancel? CACHING!

      • it's on ozbargain.. now multiple acc sign ups taking place as we speak

  • +5

Checked all 10 of my alt accounts and not one has the message in the inbox with the offer…

    • +2

The question is did you previously have Ebay Plus for those 10 accounts.

      • +1

No, none of them had eBay plus. Some of them have had transactions made in the past year and some haven't had a transaction in 1+ year.

    • +1

You have 10 accounts with eBay plus?

    • you need to sign up to the trial then you may or may not receive the offer

      • +2

Signed for the trial and nothing. Not gonna waste any more time on this shit.

      • Signed up for a new account then activated ebay plus after several tries with the button, none was working.
        No email with the offer.
I guess the airpods are OzBargained already.

    • Why do you have 10 accounts? Doesn't this violate their terms and conditions? I thought it was a maximum of 3 accounts?

But back to the important questions, why 10 accounts?

      • Multiple $5 vouchers every now and then.

  • +1

Seems like offer is for already existing accounts who have never tried ebay plus. Guessing that new accounts created today wont be eligible for the offer. Can someone confirm otherwise?

    • Nope. Had my account for several years. The free gift im being offered is a choice from 100 items under $25

      • +1

yea i meant even for existing accounts its pretty much a roulette. I just wanted to rule out that new accounts created today are ineligible so people can stop signing up for new trials to support marketing tactics.

        • I had an existing account that had never had EBP trial - worked perfectly got the pods
my partner made a new account and trial - didn't work
