Is this only for new customers?

    • +4

Yeah I'd like to know if this can be used as a recharge.

      • +5

        port out and back

        • +3

I read porting out and back has been painful for many customers recently. Any particular carrier would you recommend to port out to for a day (or a month)?

          • +1

@virhlpool: Coles selling Optus $40 pack for $15..

    • I have try to call boost and the phone manual is terrible. It taken me into a loop. Could not find this answer.

    • +1

Pretty sure this is for new customers. These are the recharge plans:

      6mths: 60GB/$100, 150GB/$200
      12mths: 80GB/$150, 240GB/$300

      • Have you recharged yet? You got one recharge grace (at the old price) only afaik.

        • what is a recharge grace?

I recharged the $150 plan this september, does that mean i cant use that recharge offer anymore?

          • @ATTS: Correct (at least thats how it seems from previous threads.. Keep in mind boost communications are useless)

Go to the boost app now and see what it will charge for a recharge. Albeit that's not definitive as they probably will implement this the lazy way (wait until mid next year then update the recharge price)

      • +3

I will just recharge mine next month as I have only use up 6gb out of 240gb of data in 11months :).

        • +3

I too have bought the 365 day $300 240GB recharge, now almost 10 months later I'm at 204GB remaining.
I thought I was a data hog!! But apparently not, so in 2 months time
I will buy the recently available and hopefully still available 365 day $180 100GB recharge.

          • @PukeyLuke: Yeah I'm about the same. When I was on a monthly plan I'd sometimes need a decent amount of data, but it seems that those months are rare. Also, with COVID19 I've been working from home for 7 months - so I'm always connected to the home wifi.

          • @PukeyLuke: I have 145GB left from the 240GB. But I have been working from home so have used more wifi then the data on my boost plan. Not a good indicator of normal use away from home

        • Same here. It's weird as I thought I'll chew through 240gb (or at least close to that) in 12 months

        • Will the data rollover after recharge? I thought they don’t do it on 24 months plan.

          • @bypeng: I’m keen to know as well??

Also what happens when the 12 months expires? Mine is due next month, can you not use data, make/receive calls/sms until you recharge or port?

          • @bypeng: @bypeng No data rollover on recharge unfortunately, 12 months not 24 months, prepaid not a plan.

      • But this is 12 months $200…

    • +1

      Hi @ Chathy,

The sim can be used for new customers getting a new number or porting from any other provider other than Boost Mobile.

      Thanks
      Team @ Cellpoint

      • Sent you info on order. Ta

      • Edit: Answered below

  • +1

Can this be used to recharge?

  • +2

And when do we need to activate (recharge or otherwise) it by? Thanks.

  • Should i wait for a better deal??

    • Woolworths Mobile is 84GB for $130 after the cashback plus you get 10% off at Woolworths once every month. It uses the Telstra wholesale network but I don't know if that makes a difference in practice.

      • +7

Makes a difference if you travel to regional areas. Boost uses the entire network and the wholesaler providers do not.

In reality, if you're in metro then it won't matter.

      • 10% grocery discount every month is worth $60-$80 for us… so it's a bargain!

        • you spend $600-800 in one shop? Wow.

          • @lostn: Pretty sure he means over the 12 months.

        • +1

No, it's a month. Some of us have teenagers… yes, OzBargainers are fathers and mothers too.

          • +1

@Anonymous User: Note that you only get the discount once per month, so you must be doing that $600-800 shopping in one go.

      • plus you get 10% off at Woolworths once every month.

Ah so that why I have that and my mum's rewards card doesn't get it.

  • Can anybody actually confirm either way whether a blank sim is required if I'm coming from Telstra prepaid? Many thanks.

    • I had to request a blank sim from boost, then the credit was loaded from the purchased boost sim to the blank.

      • +1

        Hi Overproof,

Thanks for your response. Thats the exact process.

        Team @ Cellpoint

    • +1

No they are having issues atm, my son was able to activate new sim via online chat last week without having blank sim

    • Yes, blank sim.

    • Usually Blank SIM. If they have SIM shortages then they’ll permit you to use a $2 SIM. You’ll need to contact a CSR.

    • +1

I ported from Telstra post-paid a few weeks ago and they programmed my SIM after I spoke to them via live chat. DM me if you need more info

OP Any chance of a deal for Boost recharge?

    • +1

Yes I have an interest on this pls OP

    • +2

      Hi,

Thanks for your interest. Currently there are no offers as such for Boost Mobile recharge vouchers.

      Thanks
      Team @ Cellpoint

  • Will i get 100 gb if i activate after 5 months

    • +2

Not unless they extend the offer, "first recharge by 23 November 2020."

  • +3

just want to confirm do we need to activate by 23 November 2020 to get the bonus data?

  • How does Boost differ from Telstra right now?

    • +2

esim and telstra air, the rest is same

      • um I'm on boost and I get telstra air… but esim is definitely telstra only.

      • I assume no VoLTE either, meaning no calls in and out can be done when in Telstra 4g only areas? (Went through about 6 towns the last few weeks that we got a text saying this, as a Telstra customer)

        • +1

boost has volte and wifi calling as well. I have tried with telstra air but it said i'm not telstra customer

          • @nguyentran: Does it? That’s good to know, everything I have read said zero resellers have VoLTE at the moment and it would be mid next year before Telstra/Vodafone/Optus would allow it.

Telstra Air, even some new Telstra plans don’t have it anymore. Never bothered with it myself.

            • @PVA: boost is only one exceptional reseller has this ability, it's basically exactly like Telstra prepaid without the above featured that I commented before. it has visual voice mail, call from google home as well

        • +1

I get VoLTE (& WiFi Calling) with Boost.

    • +2

No difference, except that Boost don't answer the phone when you call. Telstra are slightly better.

      • +1

not really, they use the same CS

    • +3

Also no 5G yet on Boost

  • +13

Boost Mobile seems to be slowly awakening from their greedy brain fade that was the introduction of the 365 day $200 85GB SIM/recharge.
Now they've sweetened a very sour deal to 365 day $180 100GB SIM/recharge which is still not as good as the apparently
too popular 365 day $150 80GB SIM/recharge. What were they thinking??!!

    • +1

Greed, thats what they were thinking!

    • +3

No, it's still $200. $180 is a sale not a new RRP. Clearly marked as a sale on their site.

    • +1

Yeah, Boost is greedy. Hopefully they can change the deal.

      • -1

        It's called business, not charity…

  • Can see free streaming for Apple music, anyone know if they do data free Spotify streaming?

    • No free Spotify

    • no, only apple music atm

  • +2

Woolworths mobile currently has 84GB for $150 on their 365 day plan ($12.5 for 7GB) and you get 10% off shopping every month. So essentially it does not cost you anything if you shop at Woolworth most of the time

    • -2

Hi there, I'm keen to know more about 10% off shopping… Is this something to do with the Boost? Could you point me to some info? Many thanks :)

      • +1

It’s for Woolworths mobile, not Boost.
You get 10% discount off shopping once a month (up to $50 discount on the shop)

    • Just clarification: you can avail 10% discount only once a month.

  • Good deal. Thanks dealbot!

  • +1

Expiry date on the sim? (Not the 15gb bonus, I don't care about the extra 15gb. I just want to not pay too much for renewing my families current 80gb/$150 that expires in 10 months).

  • I'm about to run out of data from my 240gb/yr boost, looking to port out. How long should I stay on the other carrier before I port back in? Thanks!

  • +1

@OP - when does this need to be activated by?

    • Hi,

To avail the offer of 100GB data the sim must be activated by 23/11/2020. Please refer to the below fine print.

      https://boost.com.au/shop/200-prepaid#the_fine_print

      Thanks
      Team @ Cellpoint

      • +1

Ignoring the 100gb, what's the typical expiry on the sims?

Edit: ouch. It's 30gb in that case (not 80 or 85gb). Geez boost are asses.

  • If I am on a Telstra post paid plan, can I buy, activate and port straight in? Or do I need to port out and port in first?

    • They had to send out a blank sim for me. Knowing how hard it is to get through to them on the phone, it would be much easier for you to port to another carrier and then come back to Boost.

    • From what I know it is a two step process.

Below is the chat extract from my old discussion with Boost rep.

"And you need to transfer your Telstra PostPaid first to Telstra Prepaid.
Once it is transferred to Telstra PRepaid you can call our SIM Replacement team and transfer your service to Boost."

This was the reason I took up Telstra prepaid offer in Jan which was for $200 on special.

      • Nope. Can port directly. I did it a few weeks ago.

    • Yes you can, do it via live chat on the boost web site. You have to do it in a private browsing window with all ad blockers disabled etc. for some reason.

  • How quick the delivery will be? I need this before Saturday, is there still enough time?
