    • does belong cancel automatically?

      • I don’t believe so. I lodged a support ticket just in case (with still no reply)

  • getting the same issue with the SQ check on my address.. anyone else been in contact with customer service and know when this is going to be fixed?

    • +1
      • thanks! I managed to get the SQ working and signed up like… 5 minutes ago… and only 1 minute ago it was provisioned and up and running.. holy heck that was quick.. Thank god I'm on FTTP.

  • 250 Mbps typical evening speed on the 1000 plan, that's 25% of what you're paying for. Are they serious?

    • +2

I think many ISP say a similar thing, but in reality the speeds should be close to 1000Mbps.

    • +2

When the Gigabit plans were released all ISPs had to put a typical evening speed number on it to satisfy the ACCC and they went with a safe bet of 215-250Mbps. It's not accurate of real world typical evening speed.

    • +1

Part of the problem with advertising averages for such a new plan, as well as being a rare plan, is not having enough data points to be able to provide accurate "average" speeds.
Hence, erring on the side of caution and seriously underpromising, so as to not encounter the wrath of the ACCC.

    • Well, you guys have helped raise some optimism, I'm moving into a new house soon in a new estate with FTTP and I'm hoping to get onto a gigabit plan. I would be sorely disappointed to only get 250 megs down in the evenings.

      • +1

No problem getting Gigabit on FTTP with a good router. Hard wire everything you can with Ethernet.

  • not able to sign up, getting error-

    Oh no!
We were unable to complete a qualification of your address.

    anyone also facing similar issue?

  • Anyone have experience churning away from ABB. If i churn mid month do i get a pro rata refund? Also do i need to give them advance notice?

    • +2

Yes you will get a refund - or they will charge you less for that part month.

Once I was connected to Superloop I called to cancel to make sure it was closed off and the credit applied. It may happen automatically but I don't like leaving things to chance (or worse - NBN and billing systems…)

    • +1

Just rang them, they said yes I will get a pro rata refund automatically. Will see how it actually goes.

    • I just moved from ABB to SL 20 mins ago.. The whole transfer took 5 mins.. Called ABB to cancel and they already sent an email saying that I will be refunded on pro-rata basis so all good now!! Speed with SL is same as the speed with ABB. ABB was quite polite and nice over the phone so no awkwardness.

      • I cancelled with ABB and asked them to disconnect on the last date of month which was 4 Nov 2020. They advised me it would be deactivated in the early morning, which it was when I woke up. I asked them that it should work at least until 6 PM that day but they said that's how their systems work :(
        Switched to Tangerine now.

        • Yes, I read that on their FAQs. In my case I called them after my SL service got activated so didn't have any downtime at all.

  • +2

placed order , moving from ABB after a long time, ABB great service/speed no complaints whatsoever though !

  • i Just signed up and it got connected in 2 minutes….I had ABB, will give them a call to get confirmation on cancellation.

  • Quick question, I need bring over my land-line number as working from home. I am with flip tv and a happy customer. Paying $68 for 50/25. Does this plan includes line rental or not? Couldnt find in CIS. Thanks in advance.

    • +1

Most likely not. It's extra if you want to keep your fixed line phone.

      • Ok thanks.

  • Signed up yesterday with Tangerine $60/month yesterday for 50/20. Got activated today. Works fine. No issues as of now.
Wanted to join Superloop but there wasn't $20 discount until today.

  • Just signed up to 100/40. Was tempted to go for the 250 but really don't need it and it's an easy $30 i can save.

    • What did you pay all up?

  • I switched to Superloop 7 months ago for the monthly discount and the 6 month period has passed, now looking for another good provider with monthly discount for the next 6 months then will probably move back to Superloop or ABB if they have discount. Can someone advice me which provider to switch to? I have HFC. Thanks

  • Anything for the existing customers?

    • +1

A pineapple. As in, the rough end of…

But you could leave and come back as a new customer. Can't see any time restrictions on that in the T&Cs unless I missed it.

      • 6 months.

        • I just signed up again one the $49.95 plan, after a 2 months break from Superloop with AussieBB

          • @muncan: Did you use a different name?

            • @Twix: New username, same address/phone/email

              • @muncan: Okay maybe SL changed their policy.

                • +1

@Twix: Just ported over now (I delayed the start date). Confirming was billed $49.95.

    • +1

Give referrals to your mates and family.

    • +4

Nothing.. As always.. I hate how ISP's just constantly bait and switch. Just like insurance, banks and so many other industries. Customer retention = 0 on their priority list. It's all about getting new members..
Been with them for a year. Quite happy with their speeds, but it would be nice to give back to customers for their loyalty…

  • -2

I say this everytime I see SuperLoop. They suck. Awful customer service. Not entitled to a refund, not a thing, then I take it fair trading and as a gesture of good will they offer me a partial refund but I have to accept it quick! And then magically after fair trading intervenes, they offer me a full refund, also as a magical gesture of good will.

Not once did they apologise for shit service, or how rude the manager was.

  • Will superloop work with opticomm? Their website is not showing my address.

    • NBN only I believe

    • Opticom have a list of ISP’s that can connect to their network and for that particular area.

  • Thanks OP. Just signed up also. First time moving from Telstra HFC after 3 years. Anyone have experience with moving from Telstra? Do I need to call them up also? Hopefully I get some refund back as I've just paid my $99 bill only a few days ago.

  • does SL do pro-rata refunds?

want to cancel and signup under my wife's name for this offer.

    • +1

I doubt this would work, as you would have to justify being a "new" customer to Superloop at the same address - you would need some kind of proof of transfer of ownership or a lease agreement etc. as you will be connecting at the same address.

  • From Aussie BB, you can disconnect at any time. Can anyone advise if superloop current deal is similar or if they need 30 days of notice?

    • +1

Pretty sure SL is the same.

    • Same as ABB

      • That is pretty good then.

    • -8

Need to give them notice before hand.

I did a credit card dispute as I transferred out two days before the anniversary date. They still billed me and would not refund me $90.

Credit card charge back was my last recourse. Be very aware of their tactics.

  • Superloop is $10 more expensive than Mate for 50/20 plan, comparing their standard price. Any pros?

    • +2

transparent about their CVC and entire network between nbn is controlled by superloop (easier to have issues troubleshooted).

    • +1

Used mate before superloop. Absolutely no difference. I'd swap back if they were cheaper but I'm on a grandfather superloop plan of equal price

  • It’s been almost three hours since I switched from ABB for this deal and still don’t have connection. I’m on FTTP and last time I switched to Aussie it only took five minutes. Anybody else experiencing the same?

    • +1

Have you moved the ethernet cord to another port on the nbn NTD?

  • I'm on Telstra atm. Do I have to buy a router to use with Superloop? I'm using the Netgear Gateway Max C6300BD-1TLAUS given by Telstra.

    • That modem is not locked to Telstra

      • So it should work right?

        • What are you on now? NBN?

          • @OldBugger: Telstra cable 100/5. Our plan ends on Jan 2 so I was hoping to leave sometime next month. I haven't churned to NBN because Telstra would put us on another 24 month contract.
NBN came out and installed the modem 8 months ago. We just haven't done anything with it yet.

  • good deal, but i only left Superloop 6mths ago for Launtel so cutting bit tight on the 'new customer' bit

    • Not sure how strict they are - you could call and ask.

  • Just churned from ABB.

On FTTN, took all of 5 minutes after I submitted the application.

Didn't even need to reset the modem.

    • +1

same, have you contacted ABB or they'll just cancel it automatically?

      • +1

Have to phone ABB for a "pro-rata cancellation".

Did it last night, not long after getting connected to Superloop.

ABB are one the few that will give you pro-rata refund on unused amount for that month.

ABB service person was very polite and helpful and asked if there was another ISP deal going on, as they had a run on cancellations yesterday.

Very happy with the service and speed on ABB, but as I commented to their service guy, we're the consumers, so going to go where the best deal is.

Have used Superloop several times in the past too and no real world performance or reliability difference to ABB for me.

        • +1

          thanks,

called up to cancel and he confirmed pro-rata refund.

transfer to superloop literally took 2 minutes from completing sign up. No router reboot.

  • Anyone if superloop can offer a range of ips maybe a /29?

    • +1

You would need a business plan to get that kind of subnet, a bit of a strange request on a residential connection…

  • This Superloop 50/20 or Internode 50/20 +fetch box
    Same deal?

  • I just signed up to ABB for first time FTTC setup yesterday morning, already have NBN appointment for next Thursday.. Is it worth me cancelling my order to get an extra $5 off for first 6 months. hmmm

    • Darn, I didnt realise it was $20 off for 50/20 plan.. so cancelled with ABB and waiting for it to go through before I order this now.

  • Thanks OP - my Belong contract just expired and was paying $55 per month, now going up to $60, so getting the 50/20 for a dollar less and will be interesting to see how speeds and support compares :)

Edit: Less than 3 minutes after signing up I am online with Superloop with no disruption to my connection (Belong modem plugged in for those wondering) and speeds are quite a bit higher as the Starter Plan with Belong did reach up to 50 MBit speeds certain times but with Superloop now I am getting 55 MBit consistently so way to go! Now let's wait for nbn prices to reach Europe/Asian levels!

    • FTTN?

      • FTTP (Inner West Sydney).

        • thought you would have to change the port on the NTD

          • @PissLUR: Didn't have to do anything at all… Even my mesh set up is working, which is connected through the Belong modem's ethernet ports.

            • @mrkrazy: how do you know that you are now using superloop's and not belong's?

              • @PissLUR: IP and speed increase (did a speed test before) + have received confirmation from Superloop that I am online and router reboot was possibly needed if things weren't working.

            • @mrkrazy: The Belong modem is not needed. You know you can hook up the mesh router to the nbn NTD?

              • +1

@Twix: Yep - might do that soon :)

                • +1

@mrkrazy: You should do it because the Belong modem is doing nothing. In fact it can cause port forwarding problems.

  • +2

who the heck downvoted this..? and why? lol.

  • +1

Sorry for the n0ob question: I just joined the nbn for the first time, with FlipTV.. mostly cos I'm purely a scab and they were the cheapest regular deal I could find at $45/month for unlimited with 25/5 speed, and it seems to regularly average a respectable 16/4 in real usage (never gets 25 though - sometimes 22). Anyway.. how come everyone here on OzB pays more ($60/month seems the norm for that slow 25/5 spec) for what seems to be the same spec connection? Am I getting a rubbish connection? I wonder why mine's only $45/month, but no-one here uses it!

    • +1

Flip is new to me, and when I looked at the website, the $45pm deal was for 'Value 12', not 25.
So, did you ask for 25 and they chucked it in for nix?
How is the service, reliable? Fast? I am in Melb burbs, does it work there?
      Any info welcome, thanks

      • Hey Branners. Flip's been brilliant so far.. but prolly cos it suits me and my minimal usage. I'm old, so not a gamer etc. The two kids watch YTube vids a fair bit, but that's about as maxed out as it gets, hence my going for a tight-arsed, cheap 25/5 speed limit, which never gets stressed even when they're both on it, which is regularly. Support isn't great, but I've rarely needed them, and can figure most stuff out, so all fine. I signed up with them when it was $45/month for 25/5 speed, unlimited. That plan I think is now $49/mth.. still cheap compared to other providers though, it seems. I'm on a HFC connection - I can't get FTTP or FTTN where I live, and I'm using my own FritzBox 7390 router.

Flip seems alright.. I don't expect anything good from the NBN, so I'm never disappointed!

    • +1

Your essentially taking a risk by buy the cheapest possible plan and it shows with that 16/4 average. Those speeds are only ok if you are on a fttn connection and even then that would mean there is an issue with your connection, which you should be able to get fixed for free since nbn guarantees 25/5 minimum.

If you bought a slightly more expensive plan you should be able to hit 22 -25Mbps down no problem, assuming nothing is wrong with your connection.

The likely reason why your only averaging 16/4 is because fliptv has oversubscribed i.e they haven't bought enough CVC to accommodate all their customers.

      • Thanks Triviums. Does my being on a HFC connection affect things?

  • Does anyone know if Telstra smert modem GEN 2, will work if I switch to Superloop? Obviously back up sim card is not going to work but I wanted to know if anyonw as tried to use telstra device for WIFI on other networks?

    • +1

Telstra supplied routers are compatible with SL.

  • +1

stepping into new world! made the switch.

  • Those that switched from ABB - what happened to your VOIP service/number? I've got one with ABB but I don't see any mention of VOIP with Superloop

    • +1

Port your number over to Siptalk, Crazytel or Maxotel.
