Does it come in black? - Batman

    • +6

      Actually yes it does.

      Hate that Noctua poo brown.

      • But it ain't $109.99 + $9 Delivery

      • Sounds like somebody needs to go see a doctor!!!

(serious, blood in your stool is bad).

      • How dare you desecrate the fine noctua colours.

    • yes, costs like $180+

    • Yes and it looks way better

  • +11

I don't know why people hate noctuas colours ahaha
like, it's their flex - best fans out hands down, they can make them whatever colour they want ;P

    • +4

Someday when Noctuas starts to have their own cases, and other parts then people may not hate it as much because everything can finally colour matched.

      • +19

Someday when Noctuas start incorporating lights on their fans, there will be no R and G, just B for Brown

        • AHAHAHA

        • Lol I spat out my food reading this

      • Full brown case is something to behold.

  • How does this one compare to the Be Quiet! brand?

    • -1

BeQuiet is the budget version, this is the premium

      • +4

Not so - Dark Rock Pro 4 is comparable temp wise and marginally quieter. Looks better too.

        • Yep spot on they are on par with each other from all the reviews I watched. I was looking at them both and would have gone the Dark Rock Pro 4 except it is a pain to install from reviews. I'm looking an ITX build for the next so don't need any more headaches for myself.

  • i went cheapo and got myself t6 snowman :(

    • how's the performance thou?

      • Won't know till I get my aliexpress order which will be forever haha.

Apparently good reviews on YouTube for what you pay for!

      • Snowman is fine. Its better than you would think for the price! I would be slapping it on a 3900/5900+ duh. My biggest complaint is the RGB…

    • How did you go with the snowman?

      • +1

Still haven't arrived yet lol. I ordered a grizzly thermal paste and t6 from Ali. So far the thermal has arrived.

I picked up the z63 kraken recently so will not use the t6.

  • $10 cheaper than the Plusflash + 5% off ebay gift card price. But I'm ready to build my PC already once I get my hands on a 5000, so wont be waiting the extra 2 weeks for a cooler.

This was the same ish price as a NH-D14 recently…

  • +1

    Worth upgrading over nh d14?

    • Depends how much room you have

    • +1

There is minimal (few degrees of difference) in performance between them.

      https://www.guru3d.com/articles_pages/noctua_nh_d15_review,1…

I have the NH-D14 myself and it works great.

This is the best price for the D15 for a long while (although not lowest) though so it's really tempting. The only issue is that in normal configuration, the NH-D15 140mm fan (which has a 28mm RAM clearance) presses on my RAM sticks (44mm clearance) so I would have to offset the fan a little bit to run it (which I personally think is ugly). Otherwise this unit is really tempting for the price.

    • No, unless you are running a 3950 or threadripper.

      • +1

You may need another cooler for threadripper, it's usually not compatible with other sockets due to larger size.

    • I have both and 2 thermalright silver arrows, you won't notice a difference with these big dual tower coolers.

  • For $9 my fan came by DHL express in 3 days!

  • Wonder what the difference is
Dedicated special edition for the AMD AM4 socket
    https://www.newegg.com/global/au-en/noctua-nh-d15-se-am4/p/1…

    • Looks like it only comes with amd fittings.

    • Will these fans also work on the new AMD CPUs?

      • yep, am4.

  • Will this fit in a NR200P?

    • Don't think so, it's tight even for the NR400. You'd have to get a low profile cooler.

    • Scythe Fuma 2 is the best D15-like alternative for NR200 I suppose. Temp and noise are nearly similar. However with NR200P it's all depend on your motherboard.

  • If you have a LGA1200 socket 10th Gen you can use this as well

Does it come with Trump or Biden?

    • Why would it, neither of them are cool.

      • What about Kanye :/

        • Relatively speaking?

Though personally I would have voted for the asteroid. :)

  • this or an aio water cooler ?

    • +4

This is quieter, cheaper and has better performance than most AIOs. But it is quite large and won't fit in quite a few cases. Also brown and no RGB for people that absolutely NEED that.

      • Not to mention will last longer than an AIO.

        • +2

          That too.

My D15 is about 9 years old. I got it when I got my i5-2500k.

      • Larger and heavier, use a gpu stand or string to help it a bit.

    • +1

Air cooler. Most people don't need AIO.

Watch this video from gamers nexus. Main advantage with liquid coolers is that the CPU stays a bit cooler at the beginning. Air coolers are simpler with less things to fail. A good fan will be quieter and cooler better than most liquid coolers.

      • aio's got to be cheaper than this so they were a good option - prices have now moved the other way….

  • I've bought a Noctua CPU fan before for my 2013 build but it was so bulky that it got in the way of the RAM slots. Just something to be aware of.

    • I had same issue with TT Frio bought back in 2010… Just try to find a low-profile ram.
Good thing that I still can use that TT Frio for my new to come build based on intel LGA1200

      • Yea I think it was also because my RAM sticks had heatsinks at the top. I didn't realise the problem until I bought everything and started building. It's almost impossible to tell otherwise.

I think I just sold the Noctua and bought a Corsair watercooler.

        • are the aio watercoolers pretty good ? Quiet ? Easy to install ?

          • @hotukdeals: good ones are, but now pricey so big air is back..

    • Yep this is one chunky boy. Honestly unless you really need the extra cooling I really would recommend a single tower.

  • I bought a Fuma 2 which is pretty good and can fit into a smaller case

  • Noctua, never fail

  • +1

great cooler, love mine, though i went for the S model so it would fit and be the correct orientation… be aware of this when buying, you will lose the top pci-e slot with most boards and potentially have ram clearance issues the S is offset and only comes with 1 fan… i had a spare a12x25 that i added to it and its great

  • +1

Is there a comprehensive list of motherboards that don't have issues with RAM/PCI-E clearance for this?

    • Like. None. You need to buy low profile RAM for this.

    • +1

For the PCI-E clearance issues just check the placement of first pcie slot compared with the ending of the IO shield, it should be slightly further down the board and not inline. From memory its mostly Asrock X570 boards and ROG Crosshair that has this issue.

How about some actual CPU deals?

  • Thanks OP. Perfecr timing for my new build with the lian li pc-o11 dynamic xl case

    • Great case but that's a really tight fit btw, 167mm clearance with the case and the cooler's 165mm. Some people has theirs touching the glass.

      • Yeah I've read the reviews about it. If its too tight, I'll just sell the Noc and go watercooling

      • Damn. I must've got lucky. Mine is fine!

  • My RAM is 44mm in height so am I shit out of luck?

    • +1

Not really, the fan is poo brown colour so you’re in luck

    • The fins will clear every ram out there, but the front fan will sit on top of the ram. For me my case was too narrow when you add ram height + fan height. This cooler can be slightly misleading in that it comes at under 165mm but doesn't factor in ram height plus fan height. It's more like 180mm when fan sits on top of some ram. Check the specs of your case max cooler dimensions

      • Yeah figured it will be quite tight and also dont want to risk blocking the pci4 slot for the 3090. Replacing it now for a Corsair 115i RGB AIO + fans

    • fan can be shimmied up but that will of course require more clearance up top

  • +4

I don't need this. It won't even fit in my NR200.

I should buy it because it is cheap, same price as an NHL9a, and then I should build a whole new system just to utilise this heatsink.

    Sounds like a plan.

  • Can I use with AM4 without going with the Noctua NH-D15 SE-AM4?

    • +1

      yes, has AM4 mounts

  • +2

Grabbed one of these a few years back for my 8700K. Works a treat. I used to use the Coolermaster 212+ in my previous systems. Will admit I decided to be lazy and just install 1 of the fans instead of both, right in the middle. Slightly less noise and you wont notice any temp change. The second fan is for that distant day when I feel like overclocking. Actually where did I even put it…

    • +2

I use only one fan too.

  • If i was already thinking about purchasing the Noctua NH-U14S, should I just get this instead given the price?
only thing is it's not black.

    • Once the fan is inside your case you wont even see it again unless you have it sideways on your desk with the side panel off.

  • Has the deal expired? I don't seen an option for $9 delivery, just $68 plus

    • Yeah, I get the same, was $9 when I tried yesterday.

      • damn, guess I missed it. Ah well, I'll continue waiting/looking for a decent deal!

        • Try again, I just tried on the off chance and it came up as $9 shipping again.
Edit: Actually, that was for the AM4 edition, standard edn still seems to be up there for shipping

  • This is back on, I just got one!

  • +1

My Noc arrived today. Pretty Impressed with how fast it arrived compared to Amazons lame attempt. My motherboard which was ordered during prime day still hasn't arrived.

    • Nice, tracking still shows mine as : 'Shipment information received'
Been like that since the 5th

  • Thinking about ordering one of these. Has anyone received their coolers yet?

    • +1

      I got mine last week.
      It arrived very quickly.
      Box is HUUUUGE.
